    Thanks for this tutorial. I tried to do a weaving like this, but didn't know about the key step of interlacing the warp thread, so the warp was more like two warps, one on each side. It's something that could work in its own way, but the way you showed was the effect I was wanting.

      @sweetgeorgia  5 місяців тому

      Oh thanks! I don’t take the weaving off the hoop. I keep it on the hoop for display and I think if you take it off the hoop it will likely not be stable enough to stay together.

    Thanks for the great tutorial, it gave me an idea on how to start with the right foot. Very much appreciated!
    One small feedback, maybe use a darker background so that the contrast helps us the viewers follow the actual stringing/looming, maybe one of those mats for cutting or made of foam so that the noise of the ring touching the wood is not distracting.

      @@crazycatladyinglis2736 we use cotton seine twine for the warp. Ashford also makes a “tapestry warp yarn” that you can use too.

  • @FatNebraskaMom
    @FatNebraskaMom 4 роки тому +2

    So if you wanted to get badass with this, you could hypothetically buy a hula hoop and get busy with it. Do something big for a wall hanging or something. That would be cool.

    • @sweetgeorgia
      @sweetgeorgia  4 роки тому +1

    I just tried this awesome tutorial, I am having a hard time keeping my warp strings in place, they slide along the side. Am I maybe pulling them too tight?

    • @sweetgeorgia
      @sweetgeorgia  3 роки тому +1

      Oh great! Glad you’re trying this one. Yes the warp yarn might slide around a bit at first. It just needs some friction to prevent slipping off. So it’s about making it tight enough not to slip but not so tight that I won’t stay in place. Eventually when you start weaving in your weft yarn, the weft will stabilize the warp threads and they will be less likely to move around. Good luck!

  • @lydiay566
    @lydiay566 Рік тому

    One tip is to tie your warp knot on one side or the other of the hoop, so that it doesn't interfere with your outer wooden hoop!

    Felicia, do you think it would be helpful to have an odd number of spokes, so that circular plain weaving would automatically work out, row after row?

    • @sweetgeorgia
      @sweetgeorgia  3 роки тому

      That’s a great consideration! I think it never really crossed my mind because I was intending on going back and forth and weaving “chunks” as opposed to weaving all the way around … but yes, that would be very helpful.
