    I'm new to weaving and I'm soaking in all the tutorial videos. Yours are great! Very informative, fun, and easy to follow. I'm a crocheter, then I started macrame a couple of months ago, which led to weaving. Now I've made a blending board and I want to spin yarn next. Aaahh I need more hours in the day lol!! Too much fiber art!😁

    Hi Thanks for this video. I'm new to weaving and knotting. I realise this seems a simple question, but I can't seem to get the hang of how you did the knot. Probably basic, but I need to see how to do a knot slowly - appreciate your skill in doing it quickly. even a verbal description would be helpful. Thanks.

      Sandra Marks It’s a wonderful craft and art form. Some weavers use macrame style knitting techniques in their weaving too so investigate that option too. Personally I just love the basic knot! Happy weaving 😊

      @@skycartercolour5736 I actually started my foray into crafting with macrame two years ago. And then I saw weaving incorporated into it which brought me to weaving on a loom. I have become my "crafty" mother. I'm sure she is having a good laugh (as I was always against anything that couldn't be completed in a day).😄

    • @skycartercolour5736
      @skycartercolour5736  4 роки тому

      Ann Newton Oooo! Good question. If you use this technique to make a rug you would most likely need to add a rubber backing (you can get a paint on rubber I think?). I don’t feel it would be washable .... I would experiment with a door mat before embarking on a large project. Also would you make ‘granny squares’ and sew together or source a large loom? Lots of elements to consider. 😊

    • @skycartercolour5736
      @skycartercolour5736  5 років тому +1

      srishti drolia .... So glad you enjoyed the video. Weaving cloth for garments as opposed to wall hangings can be quite different and usually requires other types of looms. I’m sure it could be incorporated.... but it would need a bit of experimentation.

    Hi! I love this, it's so much fun. I'm just wondering if you need to intersperse your knots with rows of regular tabby weave, in order for your final work to maintain its structural integrity when you take it off the loom? I've tried to do things very free-form, but then when I take it off the loom, it wilts and sort of falls in on itself 😩. Either way, thanks for sharing your experience xo

    • @skycartercolour5736
      @skycartercolour5736  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Meghan, Great question! In most cases I don't BUT I do make sure that as I complete each row that I am going around every warp thread (or every second) in some way. Then when I am on the next row I take note of the alternate warp thread that I need to wrap my knotted yarn around compared to the row below, making sure I alternate (I hope that makes sense). I also push my rows down quite firmly as I go and this adds to the structural integrity. On occasion I will use plain weave in-between the knotted rows if I feel the knotted rows are not able to be compacted OR if I feel I have not woven the knotted rope around enough of the warp threads. Good luck xx
