A few notation questions: What do the combo "types" all mean? Counter hit is obvious but what about Unstable, Guarantee, and Except? For the stances in the middle of a combo (GEN, MIA, etc) do you have to hit their normal input for the stance there, or does the stance activate there just in the combo string naturally?
I'm not familiar with English notation, so I often use a combination of ssr and ssl. Please refer to the video.

If you read the combo transcript on screen you'll see when he's doing the input manually for the stance to enter MIA or any other.
What’s the purpose of side stepping in some of these combos?
I don't understand what some of these notations mean. GEN? IZU? Wydm by Alternative, C and T... never seen these used literally anywhere else.
GEN = genjutsu stance
IZU = izumo stance
Alternative = Alternative combo route
T! = moves that does the tornado spin in a juggle
C = counter hit

Is Miare 1 guaranteed after izumo 1+2?
No, but its a frame trap I believe.
If you use Izu 1+2 when opponent is looking at the ground with his legs facing you, Miare 1 is guaranteed after izumo 1+2.
