I did the troubleshooting as shown in your video and found that I had the same problem. I bought the sensor from Amazon for $10.00 and installed it. Now my refrigerator is back in business. Big thanks to you. This simple fix saved me over $2,000.00 which I paid for a new refrigerator then cancelled the order.👍
I just wanted to stop by and thank you for this very helpful video. This solved our problem quickly. We got lucky and our parts store had the thermostat in stock for $15. I am so tired of expensive appliances breaking down! I'm forever grateful to you you tubers who help the rest of us. We've fixed so many things without breaking the bank or losing our minds. From our family to yours!! Thanks!!!

Man that was an awesome, detailed how to video. My wife is ordering as I'm typing this message to you. Thanks a bunch brother. Saved me some big bucks. Keep up the great vids. 👍
According to Frigidaire, the best way to clean condenser coils is by using a refrigerator coil brush. After you figure out the Frigidaire side by side refrigerator coil location, you need to unplug the fridge. This lessens the possibility of electric shock.
@@leejonlogsdon hey Lee...fan in back was working..gonna clean later...; I started with the inside freezer..step by step..you think you had ice...I had the Titanic Iceburg going on..fan worked..cleared out all the ice... Plugged in fridge..and immediately the coils started freezing up...defrost thermostat is probably the culprit..do you know what kind of appliance store would have it for 2009 Frigidaire Gallery?
This video helped us. Thank you so much! Ours doesn't have the digital front and we found the front of the inside of the freezer completely frosted over. Bless you!
Doesn't anyone find it sad that we need such a video on a 2 year old $2500 appliance? And that Frigidaire basically told us to throw it out because the warranty is over...
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for making this video, my fridge was doing the same thing and you saved me a big headache. I put the new thermostat in yesterday and today we are back to normal!
Great video. I'm going to have to check my inside my freezer. At one time the freezer made my refrigerator too cold then it was fine and now it's not cold enough and seems to be clicking off and on a lot.
The condenser coil must be kept clean so that hair or dust doesn't accumulate there. According to Appliance Outlet Service, if this happens, the sealed system will overheat, and the compressor will shut off. That's why you need to keep this area regularly cleaned using a refrigerator coil brush.
It's very important to keep your appliances at the proper temperatures. Keep the refrigerator temperature at or below 40° F (4° C). The freezer temperature should be 0° F (-18° C). Check temperatures periodically. If the temperatures aren't kept at the proper settings the more chance Listeria, a bacterium that causes foodborne illness, can grow, especially if the refrigerator temperature is above the safe temperature. Thermometers are the best way of knowing these temperatures and are generally inexpensive.
Thank you for doing this video! I’m having the same issue with the same brand of refrigerator. After watching your video I checked the freezer side of my fridge and sure enough the coils are froze over. I was close to replacing the fridge
Another reason all that frost may have built up is because the door was not fully closed and the humidity outside was high overwhelming the defrost capability and allowing all of that ice to build up on the coil. In other words, a bad seal on your door.
had the same problem with the beer fridge in the garage... tried the first 2 steps you showed here then went to home depot and bought a new garage beer fridge. Ain't nobody got the time...
If you're trying to find the Frigidaire refrigerator condenser coil location, in most standard fridges, the coil will be located behind the refrigerator, underneath an access panel. To access the coil, you have to remove the access panel at the bottom of your fridge. When removing this panel, you have to be careful because it's made out of sheet metal. According to Appliance Outlet Service, when accessing the condenser coil, you also need to be aware of the fan that keeps the compressor from overheating.
Thanks to you and your beautiful family! I went through the coil cleaning, the capacitor relay replacement and finally the defrost thermostat I haven't figured out how to put the wire rack shelf on the bin in my freezer. Could you tell me how to do it please? Thank you very much!
Thanks I seem to have the same problem My coils are also full of ice and so it seems I got the same problem Gonna check it out Thanks for the video hope it works for me too
All fridges are trash today, no matter how much you pay for one. Long gone are the days of 20+ year old fridges as they were when I was growing up. Both of the last two I have owned have went out in under 3 years. The repairmen who came out said they couldn't fix them (both times) as they were too far gone. If you want to see how the manufacturers view longevity, just check their warranty. You will see they only give ONE YEAR in most cases (lolol). Some manufacturers might give you 10 years on the compressor (but usually the compressor isn't the problem anyway). It's f'n ridiculous.
I’m having same experience. You said your fridge wasn’t cooling but was your freezer compartment still functioning and food items were properly frozen? This is my scenario…thsnkd
So far I put a hard start. a damper assembly, and a new freezer condenser fan on mine. The damper is not opening and closing. anybody know if there is a fuse to the damper fan assembly?
Enjoyed the video - nice job / liked your approach and message! Got behind mine and cleared a couple pounds of dirt off the coils - wow. Still in progress of troubleshooting, but wanted to let you know I appreciate it (to a fellow DIY UA-camr)! - DIYNate
Can the defrost thermostat still be bad by defrosting the refrigerator too much? If it is defrosting too fast, I guess it will not have enough time to cool it down. I am just guessing.
Can’t find exact fan motor replacement part but, 241509402 seems to fit a bunch of models. Will it replace Panasonic FDQY38FE1 or 242290001? Thanks for your video and your time.
So, my freezer side is working fine.....it's my refrigerator side that isn't getting cold. Should I check the coils behind my freezer? I'm thinking my problem may be the damper door control.
What about if the fan is not running at all and the thermostat kicks on and gets really hot ? Any advice I was thinking about changing the part out I have the same model as you

And if the defrost thermostat is not the culprit, next suspect would be the defrost heater. I would have checked that first ( easy check with a multimeter for continuity)
Lee, I need your help desperately! I did exactly what you did the defrost thermostat works as do all the fans etc, new capacitor, starter relay, cold control, evaporator fan motor. After putting in the defrost thermostat, the freezer only goes down to 15 degrees and the fridge only goes to around 39 and 40 degrees. I need it to go down to 0 zero so the ice cream will get hard!! Its only 3 years old and the coils are clean both evaporator coils and condenser coils, What could be wrong with it now? Thanks
I have a Frigidaire Professional and the ice builds up on the evaporator fan inside the freezer wall. I unplug it for 24-48 hours and once the ice melts off the fan will run again. I ate having to wait 24-48 hours. What do you suggest for the ice build-up on the evaporator fan?
I don't remember the part # but if you have your refrigerator's model number, you should just be able to google "make, model #, defrost thermostat" and it will find appropriate ones. Good luck!
Great video. Just wondering if you checked the Damper first? I was thinking its our damper, but now Im considering the Defrost controller. Or fridge not cold and freezer is extra cold? Thanks!
If you have a frost issue behind the panel in the freezer I would be leaning towards that thermostat that clips on them coils that controls the defrost heater or the defrost heater itself
Cleaned the coils, still says hi temp on mine. Going on to the next step you did. But I noticed the little black tank thing by the fan is hot. Is this normal someone please lmk
My freezer side works fine but the fridge does not. Low temperature. I just removed everything and let it sit for 24 hrs to try to get the ice maker working again. Now the fridge temp doesn’t get cold enough. 🙄
My fan works and I clean the coil I used all purpose duster to clean the coil I changed the capacitor the freezer fan works but my fridge doesn’t works what can I troubleshoot
