As university students they should have replied so simple questions in English. Sri Lankan kids can speak day to day English well enough. But today’s kindergarten pupils can speak English though, so Indonesia is improving now

UGM is one of best and most prestigious university together with UI and ITB, it is the first university to be founded by the government after independence and ranked 1st in the country based on QS WUR 2022. Moreover it is a university with the most foreign students studying in Indonesia.

should've done a more thorough tour of the wisdom park, they've got some beautiful spots there. A tour of the engineering faculty is also a good idea as the main building had just been renovated recently. It really is a shame to see that the students you've met with weren't that good in English. I'd suggest you to visit ITB Bandung next as it is one of the best and oldest technological institute in Indonesia, built back since the dutch-indies era.
also, there weren't many students when you visited because they've just had their last exam for this year. the next academic year will be started in February 2023. Though some faculty may still have exams until mid december
If u visit jakarta, please visit university of indonesia(UI).. Its located in depok near jakarta and also in central Jakarta (the university split in two places). This university one of the best university in indonesia.. Tried the foods in each canteen's faculty.. Especially in canteen in faculty of Humanities.. My old campus.. He
Come to University of Indonesia The location is in Depok, on the border of Jakarta and West Java. From there you can continue your journey to Bandung. Of course I recommend the Jakarta - Bandung fast train. In Bandung, you can have a local guide to find out about popular and historic places in Bandung
You can go to ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) if u don't mind. U may see twin old buildings there, which it's an old authentic building at ITB since Netherlands occupation. Additionally, i think u should search for ITB's history for firstly so u understand the timelines.
Go to the Dirgantara Mandala Air Force museum near the Adi Sucipto airbase. Plenty of WW2 and Cold War aircrafts used previously by Indonesian Air Force. It's a hidden gem of Jogja.

Those plants growing on the trees are types of fern, probably Staghorn or something similar. They're not part of the trees but need a growing medium such as a host tree or piece of wood. The difference between eating in a pasar malam and in campus are the difference of people's behavior, right? Oh ya. The difference between rice cake wrapped in banana leaves(lontong) in long round shape, and wrapped in coconut tree leaves, ketupat, which is usually in rectangular shape, is the taste. The central office you visited used to be the grand campus until the mid 1980s, nowadays it is just office for the university president and her administrative officials. The main library does look really nice and comfy. Near the undergrad thesis' deadline or exam period, it would be quite packed with students trying to catch up with their deadlines and studying. I kinda regretted the fact I barely visited the main library back then. I preferred visiting and staying in our faculty's library instead because they already had all the materials I needed to study and write my undergrad thesis. Perhaps I should visit it next time I go back. 🤔

near ITB, you may also visit indonesia's geology museum, there are hundreds of interesting pieces from fossils to gemstones

there are areas of the library where it isn't prohibited to be loud. The rooms in the upper levels are where talking loudly is not allowed

The main library does look really nice and comfy. Near the undergrad thesis' deadline or exam period, it would be quite packed with students trying to catch up with their deadlines and studying.
I kinda regretted the fact I barely visited the main library back then. I preferred visiting and staying in our faculty's library instead because they already had all the materials I needed to study and write my undergrad thesis.
Perhaps I should visit it next time I go back. 🤔
