F30 330i Gets Dual Exhaust! Installing an OEM 340i Exhaust! - EP 009

- Hi guys welcome back to another video! Today we’re going to get rid of the single dual tip exhaust and put on a OEM 340i M-Sport Exhaust to achieve that dual outlet look. This should be a fairly easy mod for anyone to do! With a couple of tools and a weekend, this is definitely doable for a weekend warrior.
OEM Exhausts are for sale everywhere, on Craigslist, eBay and the forums. You can pick one up for about $200 usually!
The car is pretty stock for the most part. I currently have a BMS Intake, FTP Charge Pipe and JB+.

damn, 200 buck, thats a steal man, didnt know. thanks for the idea. annyways if you want more sound you could just get a small drill and drill a coupple holes in the muffler, just to let a little bit of sound out and still not be straightpiped loud, i didnt wanna do it to my exhaust but if i can get one for 200 to experiment with id try it out, since the 340i exhaust is made for a 3liter motor after all and 330i's are 2L annyways man great mod, looks great
Mineral Grey is hands down the best colour for this car. I'm so happy to say I own an f30 328i in this colour at age 20, something I've always wanted. Next stage is to black out the rims and tune it, already done a custom exhaust and carbon fibre lip.
Congrats man! At the age of 20 that is huge accomplishment! I know right? Mineral Grey is one of the best colors for any BMW. I heard with a tune the car really comes to life!
@@chantars Thank you!, I have an aftermarket exhaust on it but no tune yet, its so fast already at stock, 5.7 with 245 horsepower, but with a stage 1 tune would be better. I first want to do some aesthetics to the car , eg black rims/green callipers

@@chantars hey again haha sorry for the late reply. Had the car for 2 months already and tbh I love it I just wish I would have bought a 340 or at least the m sport 330. Even with all of that I still love the car. Thinking of getting the MST air intake and upgrade the body kit from the current stock but still not sure on the ins and out (do’s and don’ts). Any thoughts?
@@patrickpuma3042 I def know where you're coming from! If it helps, my 330i was a base model as well and I pretty much made it to an M-Sport with the bumpers, steering wheel, etc . I have a long commute so the gas mileage is awesome! Although I do wish I got a 340i too but the 330i is def capable as well!
What is the difference between the M Sport and M Performance, and why is there barely any price differences, even though M Performance looks much better and more expensive?
Also, how is gas mileage on your 330i? Do you drive alot and what do you average mpg? How is the car overall, upsides and downsides?
I’m very close to either buying a 330i, or the new Mercedes A250. The BMW is pretty much better in all area’s except perhaps interior. My only problem is that the BMW’s of this generation are starting to age, even if they’re beautiful cars, the design is already 10 years old, where as the new Mercedes A250 is new generation, but then offers less car, speed, fun, horsepower, options too (I believe).
I also found some g20 330i M Performance for suspiciously low price, but perhaps that might be because there are barely any option on except for the M Performance parts. For some reason M Sports are the same price or MORE expensive than M Performance which makes absolutely no sense in my eyes.
Nice! Man that's a pretty hard choice, can't go wrong with either car to be honest. However, if you want more of a sporty sedan I would definitely go the BMW route if you're learning towards a F30. If you're looking to get a G20, it's comfortable and the interior is nice but in my opinion it lost a lot of the sporty BMW sedan characteristics that the F30 had.
M Sport - A car that has the M-Sport package, would come with M-Sport front and rear bumpers as well as the side skirts. M-Sport steering wheel would be included as well. Optional things to look out for would be M-Sport Adaptive Suspension and M-Sport Brakes.
M-Performance - This is a little different than M-Sport, think of M-Performance as additional options you can add to your vehicle if it was being built from brand new. Some options you can add would be the louder M-Performance Exhaust, wheels, steering wheel, brakes, etc.
As for gas mileage, I think I get around 30ish MPG, and with a full tank I usually get around 480 miles to the tank. If it was the F30 330i vs G20 330i vs Mercedes A250, I would lean more towards the F30 330i. However, with F30 340i prices dropping, you may want to look into those if you're looking for a true sport sedan with the famous B58 motor which is such a beast.

Hi guys! Great job on the video. I've been watching videos of 330i-s with the standard MPerformance (single, not double) exhaust and to me it sounds like this double exhaust (although non-MPerformance) sounds way better than that. Sounds deeper, more mature, less ricey somehow. Do you agree? Also, what is the price difference (between the single pipe 330i MPerformance exhaust and the double pipe stock 340i exhaust from the video)?

Ahhh yea over here in the US 340i OEM exhausts are pretty easy to find. I hope you find one!!
did you have to change the lower part of your bumper? Changing from exhaust tips on the left to both sides
A update on how it went for me. I've been able to successfully install a 340i muffler onto my M sport 328i. It was probably one of the easiest mods I've done.
It's very important to cut the exhaust where BMW specify. I had to use a 75mm to 80mm exhaust sleeve in order for the bigger pipe of the 340i exhaust to connect to the smaller 75mm pipe of the 328i exhaust. The exhaust flap connector plugs right in so the exhaust flap on new LCI models is basically the same thing.
Sounds great for what I wanted. This video has been great as on BMW forums it's was full of people spreading misinformation.

This is great for people with the m sport package, just find a cheap muffler, order a new diffuser and you’re done.. non m sport also requires getting a new bumper cover which costs over 1k painted and installed -.-
I believe a 330d is the same as I am going to also add a 340 exhaust on it. It should fit right?

@chantars I’ve got a 340i back box for my 320i, what adjustments would I have to make to the exhaust mounts at the back or would it fit on right away?

It's definitely worth it! Although I got mine from someone on the forums and I only paid $100 for it. If you can, definitely wait until they pop up on the forums.

done it yesterday. it aint as easy as shown in the video (430iX F36 LCI). diameter of exhaust pipe in 430i and a intake pipe to 440i muffler is different so using this clamp needs welding on one side. also fitting the muffler to existing mounts is quite difficult cuz there is almost no adjustment so all is made in the connection clamp and he says nothing about the mid-silencer pipe that goes down and touches the bracket on the undercarriage of the car. Used 100mm muffler tips in black with schmiedmann diffuser and it looks great. after all sound is perfect - still comfortable to long trip drive and loud when U want it with definetely more popcorn than before upgrade. a lift is a good thing to have when U got M-suspension because U need space to fit everything properly. Took 3 hours with 2 people.

I heard the 340i MPE sounds wayyy better than the regular 340i exhaust on the 330i. I think ThatF30 has it on his F30 330i and it sounds so good! BUT it is about 5x the cost LOL.

Right?! It made a huge difference. And this is just the OEM 340i exhaust! Not M-Performance.

If you check Craigslist or Bimmerpost they come up for sale pretty often, either the full exhaust or just the muffler section for usually $200! As for the mid pipe, not right now. Congrats Mark! Those are pretty underrated, I'd say intake and exhaust are the best mods to get started without breaking the bank.

I believe so! It should produce the same noise! If you want to see what an 340i M-Performance exhaust sounds like when paired to a 330i, check out ThatF30!

I noticed in your build info you have an aftermarket charge pipe, but you live in CA. I've been wanting to upgrade my charge pipe as well so I can safely do a tune, but apparently a charge pipe doesn't pass smog (or rather it isn't CARB certified), I take it you must know some people or how were you able to run that?
Since the car is so new I haven't had to pass smog yet here in CA! It's a simple swap too if you wana swap it over if you get tested!

Do you think the 340i MPE would fit on a 328i? I don’t know the difference in piping on the axle back but I’ve heard they don’t fit and I’ve heard they do all around and I’m just struggling to find a definitive answer before I buy it. I don’t want to go with the 335i MPE because of the valves and I just really love the “M Performance” logo on the muffler. Would appreciate if you know anything about this! Thank you brother 🙏🏻
I'm interested in doing this too. But from what I've the pipe diameter on the 328i is 75mm while the one from a 340i is 80mm.
Hi Kalel, I think the for the 328i your best bet would be to go with the 335i MPE :( I'm pretty sure the piping is different, that's why most of the time 328i models use the 335i MPE and 330i models use the 340i MPE. But you might be able to take it to an exhaust shop to have the 340i MPE fitted! Hope this helps man!

sounds sooo good. I’ve got a 2017 330i luxury line, and am looking to do install this exhaust. I’ve got two questions.
1: is this mod possible if i have the non m-sport bumper? Theoretically i could cut the diffuser on the right side to house the other tip, since the diffuser is non removable. i also know that AWE tuning sells a template for cutting it, but I’m not sure if the holes would line up on either side with the dual exhaust, coming from the twin pipe on the left side. What are your thoughts?
2: would i still get the burble in sport mode without any mods? Currently have no tune or other engine/exhaust mods.

Yesss do it! Definitely one of the best mods I've done, super quick install and you can find those exhausts for pretty cheap sometimes. Hmm.. you can cut the non m-sport diffuser to make the exhaust fit! If you have a template that's even better. That'll be unique for sure if you do it! I say go for it.

@@prodcomplexion I think for sure it'll sound exactly like mine! I have no downpipe, and no tune! Just a JB+ which turns up the boost.
Hey I was wondering if you ended up going with this? I also have a 2017 330i Luxury line and I’d love to change the exhausts for this. One of the issues like you mentioned was the stock diffuser being non removable, and if you have done the entire mod, how did you end up removing it?
@@omi4850 I planned on just cutting out a hole in the right side of the bumper to house the other exhaust tip using the quad tip marking plate that AWE Tuning sells, then converting the single exit tips to quad exit tips in order to fully utilize the space in the exhaust cutout on the bumper. Otherwise, the two tips would look weird in the cutout holes meant for quad tips. Unfortunately the asshole who I bought my 340i muffler from 8 months ago never sent it to me so I never did the conversion :(

You can definitely do it on a non m-sport car but you'd have to trim the rear diffuser out for the exhaust tips since the rear diffuser on the base cars aren't removable.

For the F generation there is no M340i. Just 340i but you could get an M Performance exhaust. This is the base 340i stock exhaust.

Hi Yadir! I bought the exhaust from someone off the Bimmerpost forums locally! You can usually find them pretty easily, and for the clamp I bought it at the BMW dealership, just give them the part # and they should have one!

Hi Andy! These are 437M reps, so the offsets are the F30! If you run the OEM 437M wheels they poke out just a tiny bit.

Hi! I found it on the forums, usually you can find them for cheap since everyone goes for the M-Performance diffuser. You can probably find the Rep M-Performance Rear Diffuser for cheap on eBay. I have a Rep M-Performance Diffuser now and I got it from ikonmotorsports on eBay. Check em out!
