Hey guys, it is very strange that I find myself watching a lash tech video let alone commenting in it. You see, this journey started about two years ago and I am still dumbfounded about how it unfolded. I'll try to make this brief but it's too late now 😆. You see, I'm a dude. And not a young one at that. I have been very blessed that an amazing woman fell in love with me about 5 years ago. She is currently stuck in Canada and I am stuck in the United States due to Corona and we've had other border challenges but that is a story for a different day. The love of my life suffers from severe fibromyalgia and for her to simply put makeup on is a very difficult task. She is not even able to work and thankfully being in Canada and being a Canadian citizen she is getting financial assistance. About two years ago we set her up to get some eyelash extensions which she loved of course. For two people that work this is a manageable expense but since it is just me right now because of her condition it has been tough to get her in for lash fills and the like. At one point I commented to her that I was going to learn how to do lash extensions so I could do them on her and she'd have her lashes and it would be affordable...she laughed hysterically - and rightfully so and informed me that it takes training and it's not something that you can just do on a whim. I took that as a challenge and proceeded to start a journey where I would learn how to do this fine art of lashing so I could someday do lashes for her and she would never have to worry about it again. Now I am a guy who is much more comfortable with a wrench in his hands or a drill, table saw, etc. But dang if after several hours of watching videos and several Amazon orders, I now have a dummy head, practice eyelashes, eyelash extension glue, several sets of tweezers, eyelash extension patches, acetone, eyelashes swabs, etc....you get the picture. I've been practicing for months and I'm getting pretty damn good at it 😊. Before this whole covid-19 started I even went to the local beauty school to inquire about their cosmetology program which of course is necessary to become a lash artist and get paid for it. I cannot tell you how strange it was for this mid-50s man to be sitting in the back office of a beauty school inquiring about a cosmetology program.
Sorry for all that dump of information but I think it's important to know. If you are still taking questions for future podcasts, I would like to know what you think the specific challenges are for men that enter this industry. I've spoken with a few women that have told me women would not have a problem with a guy doing their lashes and I trust them on that. But honestly I think my reluctance about this has more to do with my own feelings. Anyone younger me really will not understand and my girlfriend says "get over it", lol. But it's not that easy. I grew up with strong male/female stereotypes and still believe in them to this day (and so does my girlfriend thankfully - so we're matched well in that department) But a guy making a living putting on lashes? Like is there something wrong with me that I find this fascinating? I kind of liken it to a man that is a watchmaker....or a tailor in a very upscale clothing store. They always say the men that do these jobs are usually the best lol. (Sorry ladies but I've heard that a million times) so I guess my basic questions would be any unique challenges that men face when entering into this field. And I guess even any advantages? Sorry for going on and on....it's just something that I'm struggling with accepting that it could be something that I'm very good at and that I could make some good coin doing it and of course most important of all, taking care of my girlfriend and helping her feel beautiful ❤️

We do have one male lash artists who’s been lashing for 14 years now and is one of our main trainers here at livbay. How can you patent a taping technique, after a while there's only so many ways to apply tape and someone will think of that way all on their own eventually (hope that makes sense, it make sense in my head) lol
Life and Coffee There’s various ways to tape up & section while lashing! Really depends on the lash artist and what’s most helpful to them 💗

Tips on speeding up. When you have the quality just need to speed up.. Also I know ya mention to make friends and be the therapist for this gals and trust me the gossip is good but how do ya lash this gals while they are talking and moving?
Gissell Cazares Speed just comes over time. You can try timing yourself I know that works for some people but ultimately it just comes with time 💕 you can kindly let them know the talking is making it hard to lash and you want to make sure your giving them the best you can, offer a lip masks or sometimes even toning down your talking and responses to them will set the tone of the appointment to be a more quiet one 😊
