I've walked most of these areas and streets lots of times. Living far away now and makes me very Homesick 🙂 Thanks for the tour. Saved you as a favourite. 👍
I lived in St. Albans for 10 years, and this video almost made me cry, because Nowadays I’m stuck in the United States, though I’ve always remained British and I’m dying to find a way back to the isles, back to my true home. Thank you so much for giving me this taste of home! I remember every street, every part of the cathedral, I even remember market day in the city centre on Wednesdays! Thanks again for this, you have made my day.
I used to live in St Albans way back in the 1960s residing at 319 Hatfield Road and attending Beaumont Secondary School... A beautiful town which holds many fond memories for me...
A lovely walk through a beautiful cathedral city, the extra footage at the very end was well worth the wait - such amazing and varied architecture. Many thanks for a relaxing little film.
I used to live in Abbey Mill Lane - bottom of the path where you began walking, also Alma Cut, off the street near the train station. Been living in Australia the last ten years now. Miss St. Albans - lovely place to live. Looking back, I had some of the happiest years of my life there. Thanks - brought a tear to my eye watching your walk - so familiar. Thank you.
I grew up in London Colney always loved my trips into St.Albans with my mum as a child. In my teens I lived there before I moved abroad. I really do miss St.Albans, I grew up there!❤❤
Walked up the first hill past the Public School and Cathedral every day from St Columbus College to the Town ( Bunking off School). Memories from the Seventies. Hasn't changed much.
Lived for a year at the french row.... i walked every inch of that town. I wouldnt change it with any other place... everything is perfect ... i hope in the future i’ll move again there.
OMG... I was literally crying all the way through this video!!😭 I lived in St Albans in the early 70's up to the age of 5... I feel quite homesick. I've been wanting to return for many years, but haven't been able to yet... it was déjà vu all the way for me! I remember well the weekly shopping trips my Mother and I did in the town, a lot of the time I was seeing it all from my pushchair! 😅 There was a Sainsbury's a bit like the Harrods Food Hall, in the sense that you had to ask for food over the counter... the smell of a cheese or fresh fish stall, still reminds me today of that very old style grocery store. It was the last Sainsbury's to be be transformed into a modern supermarket. I was also amazed to see how much like Norwich it is, which is where I live now. You uncovered a mystery for me, as to why I have always felt very at home in Norwich. It all makes sense now, there are a lot of striking similarities. I always thought it was a baby memory of living in London a few years before, but it makes more sense I would remember St Albans more. I think you even walked through the park where I tripped over a tree root and landed on a big stone and broke my arm... first time I understood what real pain was! Apart from that, I had really happy memories of living in that town. Thanks for taking me back! My older brother watches your videos too, I know he'll be thrilled to see this. 🤩 👏 👍
Wow, that's so great to hear Suzy, I love hearing how the video brought back those memories for you - there's nothing quite like those childhood memories! Thanks for sharing them with us - I hope your brother enjoys it too :)
@@WatchedWalker Just finished watching...spotted the two eyes 😊 Really lovely walk, thanks for the bonus footage! 👍 I just love the architecture, the detail is really beautiful, I never get tired of looking at all the buildings, there is so much to see! ...thank you for the walk...take care!
Finally found a good video from St. Albans that bring back memories...(Specially the pubs and old buildings) I used to live and study Fine Arts there in mid 90`s. Lovely historical town! So nice on a sunny day! Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. I’m from Canada andi spent a semester at U of H and I loved going to St Albans to hang out and study. I miss it a lot.
St Albans offers the best of both worlds, being a somewhat sleepy English cathedral town/city. Yet only twenty miles, and twenty or so minutes from central London. Who could ask for more?

Great video! I'd love to visit St Albans sometime. To be honest it's always just been the name of a station on the way to London, not somewhere I'd ever thought of visiting. But your video may have changed that...

Another wonderful video, thank you! So grateful you are getting out of the city for a "rustic ramble"! This is an Anglo-File's from the US dream, a walk around a local market town that we may never get to see or know anything about. Again, great job and God speed!!
Thanks again and maybe a future suggestion(if you can), would love to see some of these smaller towns at the holidays all decorated up!! Then maybe some fun holiday window shopping in the local stores. Love the UK at the holidays and Bravo to you!!
My great, great, great, great (not sure how many greats) grandfather lived in one of those cottages at the beginning by the Fighting Cocks pub, he used to swill pigs out on the land in front of the Abbey. Nice to have had money in the family😂!!!!
I predicted it would be worse than this when it comes to busyness I grew up in ware during the 80s and my mum used to come here for an Art shop and kept me waiting for 2hours in and outside the shop while she picked her pastels or whatever else always thought it was a strange kind of place to be honest was never really a regular visitor once I became independent.
Prevalence of houses with red bricks agitated me and made me jittery. Red bricks give the houses an early-industrial era feel, as if they belong to a time when they used to mine and burn coal for heating. Thanks for the video.
This could be a very good video if we could just know where in the city we were. Surely a person with your skills could keep us up-dated as to what we are watching. Thank you for a very good video, could be better if we knew where we were.
