How to Limit the number of Checkboxes selections in Adobe Acrobat

There are times when you would want your users to choose a specific number of options out of a number of options. For example, there are 6 options with checkboxes and you want your user to choose just 3;

thank you for the video. I followed the instructions, the error message pops-up. however, it doesn't let me select a checkbox. I try to select one check box and the error messages immediately pops-up. I reviewed my script and it's identical to yours. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. thank you

Make sure that you named form fields correctly.

It seems that this only works if you have selected 3 Subsequent checkboxes. Is there a possibility to get that error message when selecting three of the six checkboxes at random?
