The UK got to play with loads of cool US vehicles, but the US never got to play with the Roboskull! Hardly seems fair.

Baron Ironblood replaced by Cobra Commander?! And Duke was mentioned?! Ah this must have been when Hasbro Europe was about to take over the toy line from Palitoy for UK distribution and intergrade it with the "G I Joe: A Real American Hero" line. ;)

No this was before Hasbro aquired Kenner General Mills was beginning to wind down Palatoy as a functional toy company and moving them to just resell existing toy molds in European packaging with the Palatoy brand. They basically kill the R&D team and Action Force stopped making new Star Wars like figures and just relabeled GIjoe toys. They also dropped the separate forces and the Baron became Commander and Major was converted to Destro. Ironically 3 of the UK Designed vehicles stayed for the wave where the line became imports again. This ad shows the Skull that became a cobra fighter and the Triad a retained Action Force fighter. The sub was also kept. It's funny because they recycled the original animation from the previous version of the ad the Troop carrier still has a Z force logo. It's likely the Action Force wave kept the improvements while reverting to its US deco with a action force sticker.

@@JeffreyPiatt You do know that eventually Hasbro Europe did re-acquire the toyline around 1986/87 from Palitoy and turned it into Action Force: International Heroes, before they turned it into G.I. Joe: The Action Force, then finally just as G.I. Joe right?
