Will Heineman He’s right, Nissan was really struggling there for a bit and it didn’t help that they constantly had to battle poor upper management, it seems that Renault has finally taken good control over them but also allowed the company to work independently from them as well and the turnout is looking good.

A company that makes the decision to close a factory, and leave more than 25,000 families without bread in Barcelona, in the midst of the worst crisis in its history, does not deserve for someone to buy its products, let alone this model that could be assembled in Barcelona without any problem.

@@salmaaxx_09 That really sucks about all the people losing their jobs. I have nothing but sympathy for all of them. But this is what happens when a company is badly run, and in this case almost run into the ground. You can thank Ghosn for that, as well as the Renault alliance. They all have responsibility for how Nissan was run, how it operated, and ultimately leading it to financial disaster. But what is done is done now. Nissan is financially wrecked. So Nissan either does this......cut costs, scale down it's workforce, withdraw from markets, remake itself, and present a new fresh image to consumers, and most of all better start making some actual good cars (because fuck knows their cars have not been good for years)... Or they are going out of business. And at the end of the day it's a business. It's main goal is to stay in business.

While I'm sure they might be able to stay in business there is no underestimating the degree of financial shit Nissan is in. They are going to be in a fight for survival. And sadly when companies get driven into the ground this badly by management it's the employees that suffer. I guarantee you that Ghosn won't be having any money problems.

As long as renault has any say at Nissan, Nissan will have an uphill battle to be truly great. Somehow renault hasnt been much of a blessing to Nissan in recent years. Nissan is already the most profitable of that group and can only get better without renault's influence.

The fittest survives in today's highly competitive economy! If they can't survive in the European market, if the business environment (tax, labour cost, environmental friendly regulations etc) is not favourable to them and they can't sustain their business there. Why would they keep the plants there? So that they can go bankrupt? As much as we don't want to accept, big global corporation isn't a charity. They provide job opportunity but it's not forever. The biggest automobile companies failed in the US in 2008 and the federal government couldn't afford them go bankrupt so they help. Do you think the Spainish/Japanese governments have capital to help? I don't know about that lol
@@suckitupbabe isn't that straight forward am afraid.. over the years local governments have given them millions to keep the factories going, bit they have not done anything to make them more productive and efficient. Nissan basically left the factories die slowly. Along this years also made agreements with the staff getting rid of hundreds of them in exchange of continuing.. frozen salaries, reduction of workers rights.. besides sacking hundreds of them both in 2009 and last December other 600. Precisely last December were given 70 million by government bodies to invest in a new painting factory, and they did nothing! Now, amidst the covid pandemia when there little it could be done due to mobility restriccions, they announced the closing. That's of a mercenary.. you don't abandon 25000 families that provided you with loads of benefits in the past just like that. They are not productive now because productions have been sent to Renault in France, which holding the 46% of the alliance have passed over the cowards Nissan directors and stakeholders. The management is crap and have become simple puppets of Renault.

Nissan had a leadership shakeup, so hopefully this won't happen again. I really do feel for the people that lost their jobs. i hope they can find something else so they can continue with their lives. this shouldn't have happened, but it did and now the people in charge need to make the best of the situation.

Another new corporate identity change for a motor company after 19 years with the previous logo. Hope this Japan giant can get its direction and targets realised and rely less on the quirky and eccentric French bits peppered around the current cars that definitely are not innovations that excites. Go forge closer cooperation with Mitsubishi Motors and put true Asian values into the future cars. You don't need to be as big as Toyota but you need to stamp down your credibility as a reliable and easy to maintain image that typical Japanese motorcars gives. Bring the true Japanese spirit back into your cars! All the best!
