How about riffs you need a Les Paul for :)
ua-cam.com/video/VxL5PbYOXmY/v-deo.html
Anything ACDC that is for sure.
Sweet child o mine
LoudNProud AC/DC used Gretsch’s and SGs...
LoudNProud AC/DC had an SG and a Gretsch though
15 RIFFS NEEDED FOR A GRETSCH
Why no David Gilmour? He was a strat guy for sure.
Pink Floyd is my favourite band ever but they don't really have any famous riffs that would be interesting enough to watch
@@hobojoe8104 run like hell is a good one I think
at least his most famous solo (another brick in the wall) was played on a les paul.
hbert06 I think his most famous solo is the one in comfortably numb
@@hobojoe8104 Money is a pretty popular one
Under the bridge is on the bridge pickup!!! Hahaha
My thoughts exactly haha
Wouldn’t it be a river?
Sebastian2003! Still sounded cool though lol!
Yeah lol, it wasn't played on a strat, too
firstname lastname It definitely was, check any live recording, and You can definitely hear the strat throughout the whole thing, Froosh only used the Jaguar for overdubs throughout bssm and for the video
Top 10 riffs you need an acoustic for
also this list could entirely be Jimi Hendrix or SRV riffs lol
I almost did all Jimi as a joke haha
lol!
Robert Baker Make a part 2 with only Jimi Hendrix
SherlockConanHaibara I second this lmao
And Deep Purple :)
Anything by Gilmour is just soooo strat.
Lots of Gilmour stuff is Tele.
Civic Blasphemy!
DeadNogg g He’s right........... loads on a Tele. Solo for Another Brick in the Wall studio version is a Les Paul.
go most of animals and a lot of the wall was recorded on a tele
Apart from ABITW solo, that was a 58 Les Paul
To be honest, this list could’ve been all Pink Floyd and Richie Blackmore stuff and it would’ve been completely justified!
*EDIT:
Oh, so you didn’t include any Pink Floyd or Richie Blackmore? Well, better make a part 2, then...
A song that makes me think about a strat is Scar Tissue by RHCP
ReyQ very much so
ReyQ Love that song!
Dan Parro em no lol
Dan Parro it was recorded on john frusciantes blonde neck stratocaster
Great vid! I was surprised we didn't see a single Gilmour lick or any Clapton from strat years.
Christopher Violante I was expecting at least one Nirvana song tbh.
ItsTheFitzCPT you think? If it was a jag or a JM I would agree but I have to disagree for the strat. I don't think Kurt ever publicly played one, may have owned one but no one saw him play it (that I can find )
Mustang, and jazz master.. Never played live with a strat..
Ya one song and it was Pat Smears that he got for Kurt not long before that show..
@@rickeyryan303 well, one of his most used guitars was the vandalism strat, and he used one for almost the whole live at reading
Do a tele one too
Stratocaster = JOHN FRUSCIANTE
Janmeyjay Shukla yes my friend :)
Janmeyjay Shukla of course!
Oh hello there! RHCP are life
There is so many concert where john use a les paul for a song
Dave Murray
If you've not gotten a recommendation for this yet, 10 best bass riffs to play on guitar would be pretty cool 😂
Keep practicing under the bridge. You'll get it someday. Lol
lol was good until he got to the chord progression. sounded like he just forgot and decided to skip it lol. Being a big rchp fan tho, it's not super easy to play
true 😂
my thoughts exactly, far from frusciante :D
I play under the bridge complete :p
Arm chair critics in their natural environment
Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. That’s my favorite Pearl Jam song. Of course, all of them could be strat riffs
Aaron Siemer Gotta love Pearl Jam!
0:38 When you say “hi” to your crush and your voice cracks
Man, you have amazing Strat tone
Why was there no Eric Johnson!?!?!?!?!?
Cliffs of Dover?
+prehistoric pigeon that's no so much a riff in my mind more of a solo piece
+prehistoric pigeon but EJ is the man :)
Well, Riviera Paradise isn't really a riff either 🤔
You tell pat to hush up :) Just kiddign it was recorded on a 335 buuuuut the solo is a strat
prehistoric pigeon it isn't even really a riff
I missed some Ritchie Blackmore here but great video as always!
Strat = Dave Murray ... Maiden
Jefferson Sixx *Strat with humbuckers.
You just can't play Maiden on a single coil
Exactly - I use Seymour Duncan but yes, no single coils!
My guitar has single coils, and it does metal
He uses a DMZ Superdistortion though.
For the riffs never to play on a strat, anything Zakk Wylde lol
Oh dotn worry I have some Pride and Glory stuff planned :)
Or just never play.
@@BeefNEggs057 that's no fun!
Some other riffs I’d include
- Layla - Derek & the Dominos (Eric Clapton)
- Money - Pink Floyd (David Gilmour)
- Nowhere Man - The Beatles (George Harrison & John Lennon)
- Reptilia - The Strokes (Albert Hammond Jr.)
- I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys (Alex Turner)
- Ace of Spades - Motörhead (“Fast” Eddie Clarke)
- Walk This Way - Aerosmith (Joe Perry)
- What’s My Age Again? - Blink-182 (Tom DeLonge)
Heard Free Ride this morning and instantly thought "that is a strat set to position 4". This video confirms it. Thank you..
Always been a tele and HB guy, but recently picked up a strat style guitar (Reverend Eastsider S) for inspiration and have been loving clean strat tones in positions 2-4.
Purple Haze tone was too trebly and grainy (still with good playing; bridge pickup?), but Manic Depression had really awesome tone.
If you think about making a part 2 you should put an Iron Maiden or Judas Priest riff in my opinion
BOBO 10 no really Strat!
I've had lots of guitars and my favourite music is the more metal stuff i.e. All the solo Ozzy stuff, Van Halen, Extreme etc but I still prefer my Strat to any other guitar! A few tweaks on the amp and it'll sound awesome playing anything from The Shadows to Motorhead!
Great licks, But under the bridge is played on a Jaguar ... some songs I love on a Strat are Layla:Clapton, Wicked Game:Chris Isaak cliffs over dover:eric johnson and jeff beck the Wired album. Thanks
Albert Pena As others have said in these comments, Under the Bridge was recorded on a Stratocaster. Frusciante only used the Jag for overdubs in the studio, and for the video. Except for overdubs, all of Blood Sugar Sex Magic was recorded on a Stratocaster.
I used to think strats were only for Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn and County twangers. Till I stumbled across a heavy known late 80s Tri Stereo (Dytronics/Eventide) chorus sound. They were also playing exotic and heavy distorted solos with SING COIL Strats in that effects setting. I never knew lol!!! I looked for videos and can’t find ANY where they are using a Les Paul!! I was kinda ticked because I’m actually a Les Paul guy myself lol!
El tono de tu guitarra es sublime ! Me encanta
1: Run To You - Bryan Adams
2-10: Anything Ritchie Blackmore and Yngwie Malmsteen
LAYLA!!!!!!!!!!!!
YA GOT ME ON MY KNEES LAYLA!
Duane Allman used a les paul actually. People only think of Clapton
Zachary Sedlar DARLING WON'T YOU EASE MY WORRIED MIND!!!!!
+Ashton Mapes Allman played slide. The solo-ey riff is all Clapton and all strat.
Right
I would love to see a video on how you dialed in such a beautiful strat tone. I've been trying to get my strat to sound that nice, and I feel like I can never quite get that true bell like strat tone
jdavis137 Most likely your amp? Just a guess. MIM strat stock pickups are a little less chimey if thats what you have. Little darker. Just a couple of things I’m passing on in my tone journey. Recommend a Princeton Reverb and some alnico pups (avoid the noiseless and obviously the humbuckers if you want chime and glass). ✌🏼
David D thanks! I have an '89 MIM with Texas Specials, and I think you are probably right about the amp. I brought it to a store and played it on a really nice tube amp and it was beautiful. I've been looking for an amp upgrade and I'll definitely check out the Princeton reverb. It looks like exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
jdavis137 less mids, more presence/treble. Look for clear sounding pickups
I took your advice and just got myself a '65 reissue Princeton Reverb and it sounds INCREDIBLE! Thanks! I finally have my dream strat setup!
Axe fx dude
all of those were spot on ...the Jeff Beck / Rod Stewart version of People Get Ready is another one that comes to mind with the perfect strat tones :)
Under the bridge was recorded on a Jaguar
Under the Bridge was played on a Jaguar in the album recording and music video. However John usually played it live on a Strat.
New subscriber due to your very well riffed video! I'm a Strat and San Dimas guy (4 Strats/1 San Dimas). I have a thing for Daphne Blue and Surf Green finishes so the Strats are divided between those two colors and my San Dimas is Specific Ocean...I just love those hues. I'd love to see more Strat vids...this was very helpful for a newer player like myself!
Ty for adding under the bridge as it should've been played on a strat but was played on a jaguar
Scar Tissue and Hey Joe are the first two I think it when I think distinct Strat sound. Cliff's of Dover is up there too
How about one of these videos but with superstrats
Oh you can count on that
Robert Baker hahaha great
awesome, i'll be waiting too
Robert Baker looking forward to that
Super strats are lame
Cool intro - I had Gary Wright as a guest on my radio show a few years ago!
Love the vids Robert baker enjoy seeing the new ones every time I get a notification keep up the good work my brother
I literally just rediscovered Dreamweaver and it’s been a wonderful 150+ hours of having that song on loop
Under the bridge by RHCP was actually played on a Fender Jaguar
Only for the video
Just ordered a 50’s Vintera Ocean Turquoise
To me the strat is the quintessential electric guitar, even more so than the les paul. So many of the all time greats played strats primarily - SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, just to name a few.
You should've played every song ever recorded on a strat. It's the only way to keep the comment section happy
Under the bridge was played in a seafoam green Jaguar.
Under the bridge in the studio version is played on a Fender jaguar
Not true
John Mayer plays "who did you think i was" on the neck position with a bit of overdrive. Not in the 4th position with the middle and neck pickup.
Yes but 4th position gets rid of all of the hum from my pickups 😉
Ah okay. Well personally i only listen to the live version and he plays it dirtier so i like the noise. Fair point.
the Trio stuff is sooooo good
Yeah man, that tone he get's is just amazing. Try and out of my mind (with the one you played undoubtably) are my top favorite. And Belief in the Nokia live Concert is like the best tone i ever heard. That second solo i just.. Ghoosebumps.
Riviera Paradise is such an unknown song and it makes me sad cause it’s so beautiful
Awesome, but no Eric Johnson riffs?
The intro is how I look at my strat before I play. My girlfriend doesn't like when I drool on the carpet...
Dude, I am a Viking it's such a cool riff, we made you choose Ships of Fools. I don't know that one.
I've been looking forward to this since the les paul video! Awesome video and good tone!
Nicely done, mate.
Rory Gallagher?David Gilmour? RITCHIE BLACKMORE?
Buddy Holly? Jeff Beck? Randy Bachman?
I’m going to play all of these riffs on a jackson
0:20-0:30 me every time I see my Strat 😍😂
Also, SWEET harmonics on the SVR song. 👍
Under the bridge was not played on a strat but on some not so common fender
Alexander jt was played on either a jaguar or a jazzmaster im not shure but i think jazzmaster
He used a jaguar in the video but the recording is 100% strat. Frusciante used a jag for overdubs on blood sugar sex magik, but the whole album just screams Stratocaster
Detlef Davis nope! Jaguar!
again, no. he's right. he never used it for the recording, but only for overdubs and the music video for UTB.
Check any UTB live recording, Strats are always used
Hey Robert, forget the guitar, you may be the next Spielberg. Seriously, think about it, Directed by Robert Parker, Another Robert Parker Production, etc..., Hollywood is calling! Your lessons are great, but I'm waiting to see your 1st Big Movie. Great lighting, seamless editing, clear closeups, high production values, crisp sound, think about it
Under the Bridge is played on a Jag, although it plays really well in a strat
Jag was used only for the video
Dang, I was expecting Pride n joy, but Riviera Paradise was absolutely loves!
i believe under the bridge was actually played on a gibson firebird.. maybe that was just the chords and not the intro tho
Bravo good sir, the tones were bang on!
More creative intros lately, love em! Keep em coming!
Strats are just awesome guitars iove mine
(+Dennis Breault) Says the person with a Les Paul as their UA-cam picture. 😆
Please don’t take this comment seriously at all. I’m always glad to hear from a fellow Strat lover.
Under the bridge was played on a fender jaguar but later was played live on a strat
I need a strat to play Under The Bridge and the original album version was recorded with a jaguar.
Nothing feels better than digging into the strings of a Strat :)
You’ve gotten a lot better dude
Top riffs for acoustic
Robert Baker I follow a lot of guitar UA-camrs, but you are without a doubt my favourite. Keep up the great work man! 🎸
That intro was great.
Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix was actually recorded on a Telecaster.
Awesome playing in this one man!
Excellent video and great playing
What, Robert, no Gilmour or Clapton riffs in your selection? I did enjoy those you did select & play for us in the audience.
Gimme three steps sounds awesome on strat
Man, that Free Ride sounded awesome?
Anything Hendrix with the exception of Red House, ya gotta have an SG for that
I used to be a fenderhead now I'm esp for life. I have never looked back.
David Nwokoye you should be an everything person. I am. If its good i use it.
Luis I would roast u but you've got a big L as your profile pic.
James I also play Jackson guitars if it makes u feel any better.
Me too
David Nwokoye OOH SHIT!! you didn't roast him you burnt him to a crisp
Robert just jamming away, love it!
Really annoys me as a mark knopfler fan that litterly everyone gets the strumming wrong on sultans of swings
Would you mind showing us the right way to play it?
Hey it's not an easy riff! Knopfler parts are really unique so they are hard to get them right
Everyone playing Walk Of Life like it's a Status Quo song is the one that bugs me.
As a Mark Knopfler fan it really annoys me when people say sultans of swings instead of Sultans of Swing.
Reeling in the years, Elliott Randall, one of the brilliant guitarist/jingle composers of the 20th century
Jimmy Page loved Randall for his style. ER was/is awesome!
Free Ride. Gotta learn to play that now.
Kerry Cutler Right!?
Love ur playing and the strat too
Hey Robert, you rock. Could you do a lesson on the Ship of fools intro? pretty please?
Reeling in the years was on a tele but I like it more on a strat
Any SRV riff would suffice and you chose Riviera Paradise...
I LOVE THIS GUY!!! Good choice brother keep it up!! Love your videos!!
Yellowstone ledbetter is a MUST
Under the Bridge is played on Jaguar if i am not mistaken
purple haze was recorded with noel redding's tele
I hate sounding like I'm bragging but today I just learnt the solo to purple haze and I'm really proud of myself. Next up I want to learn don't fear the reaper
Love your style on sultans of swing
basically every srv and hendrix song :D
also rhcp - can't stop, smak - maht pustinja
i'd like to hear srv's cold shot and so excited
you should make a video on how to make cool rifts on a fender jag-stang
awesome video idea, well executed, super talented and diverse guitar playing, and a funny intro? Yeah, i think I'm subscribing
Cool riffs
keep em comming Robert!
under the bridge was played on a jaguar ; )
These old videos just slap
Good stuff! I was waiting for burn by purple.
