These guys are my biggest role models! Joe Ranft especially, after sadly learning about his passing but the work he did. I said to myself: "That's what I'm going to do!" I'll be at Pixar one day ✊💡
...I mean, can you confirm that he left this world way too soon? Did you know his exact expiration date? His time came and went. It's how things work. Are you saying the universe or God made a mistake? He was supposed to live longer but... oops!
Can you imagine....you have to redo and redo and everybody have their 5 cents worth and then you have to redo again! If a director can't work out most of the shot sequences and angles in advance with an artist with somebasic redo's and clean-up. Who's wasting time?
I always wondered, both Live-Action and Animation movies have Storyboards. But an Animated movie gets eddited before it is "filmed", wouldn't it be smart to do the same for Live-Action, to save time and money and kinda know where you're going?
You're right, and they do tend to storyboard scenes where editing is important, such as action or chase scenes, or scenes with a lot of special effects. However, many directors prefer to figure out the shots on-location. But then there are people like Hitchcock, who storyboards everything. I think it makes a lot of sense to have some storyboards, just so you have a general ideal for how the scene should go.
I want to be a story director in Disney. How can I when I don’t have grades never was allowed in university no degree whatever. Treated unfair because of autism by teachers. But still I do videos animating toy soldiers. I would prove how good at storytelling I am. Would someone give me a chance? all my videos are on UA-cam. I live in Aberdeen Scotland. Not America.
I hope to be a storyboard and concept artist at Pixar, the greatest animation studio on the face of the earth!✏✒📒

A prime example of how films are made
Still one of the best examples of breaking down visual storytelling

Ratatouille is the best Pixar film. Change my mind!!!
Ratatouille is a masterpiece, but I believe that Cars is truly Pixar's Magnum Opus.
