- The 2012 Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival payed tribute to Lima-born comedic icon, Phyllis Diller. Executive Director, Len Archibald presented Ms. Diller the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award in her home. This is a video excerpt of the presentation in her Brentwood, CA home in June of 2012.

Rest in Peace, Madame Diller. - Розваги
Phyllis was 95 in this interview.. Incredible
I met Phyllis Diller in the late 60's. she had a summer home in a tiny place in the Idaho Rockies named China Hat. She was often in the little store bait shop. she was very kind. she would buy a treat for me. I was just a child. I will never forget her.
she deserved this award. she was a great lady
I wish people like Phyllis could live forever. She wasn't only funny...she was a good person!
Josh Popichak I think she was!
She was! I met her once! She was just awesome!

I met her 3 times, I'm not bragging, just really lucky. She was exactly the same in person.
SharkSport Oh! I have a funny story about her! I met her while she had a broken elbow. I had no idea who she was since she looked so different in person. She did not want to be recognized! I didn’t know, since I had no idea who this lady was. I said “You remind me of someone”, meaning my great fantastic Grandmother. I had no idea!
She went ballistic! She thought someone had blown her cover! I was insulted and told her off how I had given this unknown woman a great compliment, since my Grandmother was the sister of General Emmons who was one of McArthurs generals during WWll, and my Grandfather, Lt Colonel who served in North Africa. She calmed right down, and muttered a apology to me.
I thought this lady, had to be a bit crazy since she had bitten my head off by giving whoever she was a simple complement!
Anyhow,a day or so after, she was released from the hospital she was at, gave a press conference on TV thanking me !! How kind she was! Amazing!

Great story! Have you read her book?
Is there Anyone Who Does Not just LOVE Phyllis Diller?!
Didn't think so.
The interviewer did a great job...didn’t keep cutting the person being interviewed off, like so many do.
Gawd, right!!
She passed away just two months later. She did not look or sound like a 95 year old woman here one bit. If I could live long like her while making change to the world and inspiring so many people like she has, I would be happy for the rest of my life.
And you know her health remained very good up until the end, her eyesight had started to go and she had stopped walking because of it. Besides that she was pretty stable.
It was reported that Phyllis was found passed with a smile on her face. Such a wonderful legacy. Love you, Phyllis
Richie R i thought she was in her 70s when she passed .she doesnt look 95 here wtf
Leave the Lamps here. 💌
"I'll enjoy this the rest of my life, which isn't so long!" Priceless
Yes she was a comedian but much more then that she was a very kind and a very intelligent and wise woman. She really was a treasure.
I heard something, years ago, that was very interesting about her: she took her fan base very seriously, to the point of personally answering every piece of fan mail she received. Fans would often send her jokes, hoping that she could use them in her act. She kept all her jokes on file, and this included many of her fans' offerings. She would even write back to fans with critiques on their suggested jokes, offering suggestions to improve them. Knowing she had that kind of care and attention made a deep impression on me.
Remembering your 100th Birthday! God the world misses you. Forever loved and admired...
Have loved this lady since I first saw her on TV back in the 60's as a child. Her humour, her wisdom, her insights cleverly written into her comedy. She was funny, and there will never be another like her.
I always adored her , but never got to meet her . thankfully , I sent her a letter about a year before she headed to heaven , and she sent me a lovely autographed photo and a note . Her humor was clean and funny , unlike todays garbage !
Phyllis was quite a woman and a accomplished woman. She was very talented not only as a comedian but in life. She liked to paint and played the piano also. She was a very down to earth woman who loved not only her family but her fans. Though her life wasn't always easy, Phyllis lived a good long life and made a lasting impression on many of us. I saw her once in a live performance but wish I could have met her.
Phyllis is one of the loves of my life. I remember my mother dressing up like her for a costume party when I was 7 years old. I've carried Phyllis' wit and wisdom all of my life. An American Original, Brilliant Comedienne & a Beautiful Lady inside and out. I miss you, my friend.
Oh Phyllis...I always loved you so much and will always.....RIP sweet lady.
Laugh and you'll enjoy a long life. Phyllis Diller is proof of that.
God, I love her. I can't help but cry watching this. What a beautiful soul.
that laugh..i swear..LOVE IT
"You must know where you're going, then go." Phyllis Diller. This is manifest your destiny. Believe in yourself.
p m I’m the interviewer’s wife, and this is the one line that I couldn’t shake from that day & from meeting her. I have so much respect for her!
@@jessicaarchibald8015 Your husband did a great job. I loved this.
That's the quote that stuck with me as well.
I remember reading that Phyllis Diller was inspired by the book, "The Magic of Believing." It was like Norman Vincent Peale's "How to Win Friends....", etc., and it's really a spiritual book that teaches readers how to envision and go after their dreams. I too read that book when I was a teenager, and always wanted to become a writer & actor. I followed the simple but profound steps in that book and did become an author. When I heard that Phyllis credited this book as something powerful that "launched" her, I wrote her a card & told her how much the book also meant to me, and sent her a copy of my book "The Place We Call Home." I enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope and kindly asked her to autograph it for me. She not only SIGNED the card, but she sent me an autographed copy of her book "A Lampshade in a Whorehouse"! along with a beautiful Hallmark card; she wrote, "To Robert, MUCH LOVE, Phyllis Diller..." (the word "love" was written across the whole top half of the card). This was back in 2008. I remember someone telling me she used to bring cases of the book, "The Magic of Believing" after her shows, and hand them out to everyone. She'd tell audiences to "DREAM BIG & KNOW YOU DESERVE ALL GOOD THINGS IN LIFE, AND FULLY BELIEVING, THOSE DREAMS WILL COME TRUE!" I'll treasure Phyllis Diller forever...she illumined the world.
Thank u for sharing your experience robert, that's lovely to hear. Really, I do appreciate it!
R grant great words. I enjoyed your comment and I ordered that book. Should be in my mailbox today. 🙂👍
the book you mentioned, the magic of believing, is it by Claude Bristol
That was awesome to watch , Phyllis Diller will forever be remembered as a comic genius and at the Forefront for women in comedy , she looked great at 95 and it was awesome to see her and good spirits and with her wit still
I miss you, wonderful lady...Thanks for all the wonderful memories!
Thank you SO much for this, Len! I've adored Phyllis, since my childhood. Fortunately, I spent an afternoon at her home in 2008. Hearing that laugh in person, unforgettable! She was sharp and hilarious, and a marvelous human.
"My face has been pulled up more than Bill Clinton's pants." HAHAHAHA Such a Funny Lady!
Wonderful Lady. RIP Phyllis.
Love her attitude about how much time she has left on this earth.
Kindness, humor, and humility makes for a joyous life 🙏🏼
Great woman! I love it when wise people tell stories of the past! History!
The Best Laugh Out Loud I've ever heard. Every one was sincere. She was the best.
God, we've lost so many funny women in the past few years: Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Joan Rivers, and Phyllis Diller.
@Tom Cross elaine stritch was left out for a good reason... she's not memorable.
Carrie Fisher was a comedian?
@@sharksport01 exactly. wouldn't put her with the others mentioned.
Loved her and Fang!!!
Carrie Fisher? Huh?
I love her cackle.....go girl. From little Lima, Ohio. Thank you Phyllis.
What an honor for Len Archibald to have been the one to bestow such an esteemed award to the world's greatest comic (in my opinion). Congratulations to Executive Director Archibald for conducting her final interview. I can't wait to meet Phyllis at the Purple Onion in heaven!
Shes appearing at the Hungry i.
Was she a born again Christian? I hope but if not no heaven not for anyone who is just good. Christ alone opened heaven
she was a Gem
She died only 2 months after this interview. RIP, Phyllis.
Really? Wow. Yeah what a beautiful award toward the end of her life. :)
Beautiful woman. There can never be another one like her. Bless you Phyllis
Such an amazing, beautiful soul. I watch clips of her and just laugh. So funny but very bright and a wealth of knowledge. Phillis, you are missed.
ALL I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS WOMEN IS -SHE WAS ONE STRONG PIONEER OF LIFE -R I P - PHYLLIS DILLER FOR ALL THE YEARS OF LAUGHTER.

PD was one of a kind. She really was a hoot.
My aunt was identical in looks and personality to Phyllis. RIP both-they are now bring their humor (which I inherited as my greatest gift) to heaven.
RIP Ms. Phyllis Diller
that was terrific. i love her.
There will never be another Phyllis Diller. We have no more icons left. All the good ones have gone. Thank you Phyllis for all the memories
A great lady. Thank you, beautiful Phyllis.
she had very twinkly eyes. There was always mischief there.
Phyllis Diller was way ahead of her time. She is a lovely lady. I miss her. She’s the aunt you loved to have visit. She lived very elegantly in Beverly Hills.
That infectious laugh! Thank you Phyliss!
love this woman awesome!
she carved out a totally new world for her and all who are continuing to follow her. Genius. And where she came from, a totally conventional life until she realized that there was something else out there for her, something that no one else could see.
Oh My God.!! so wonderful to see her during a 2012 interview. She deserved this life achievement award. She was a funny and very brilliant lady. Rest in Peace Phyllis Diller.
This woman scared me as a kid but know that iIam grown I realize how great she was!! Bravo Phyllis
I don't know why I started thinking about her today, some flashback to my earliest memories of watching TV with my family made me think of her. Rest in peace
This lady was a true, classy, talented , legend!
This made my day. I'm 68 and grew up with Phyllis Diller entertaining. I really miss her. Incredible lady who accomplished so much.
Loved watching and listening to her while growing up. I recently named my Peruvian guinea pig after her, no offense to Phyllis' memory it's just that the hair is all wild as was Phyllis Diller's.
I remember my dear Mom loved Phyllis Diller. She was great
such a quick wit, even at 95 ! that is so amazing.. "art should be a part of life." To me, she is one of comedy's greatest legends, just like Joan Rivers and Bob Hope (the USO tours; notice the painting of him, between Phyllis and Len) - Phyllis Diller, R.I.P.
I was wondering if that was Bob! She must have loved him dearly to have such a beautiful portrait of him
Oh lovely Phyllis. There's never gonna be another quite like her! 3
darling angel....
Madame Phyllis Diller was an icon in so many ways!! she was not only a comedic genius, she was a gifted piano and pump organ player, and more than that, an incredible woman and person.kind, caring, friendly, She was Americana at her finest!
Phyllis Diller such a sweet, funny n down to earth kind of lady. Thank You my dearest Phyllis for entertaining us all these years. May u Rest In Peace.
Phyllis was a dear friend of mine over several decades. Most people will never realize that Phyllis was a great Concert Pianist. The Pittsburgh Pop's To The Carriage Hall Symphony she was gifted & amazing soul.
These were the old Hollywood greats. They'll never be anybody like them again. They said in another youtube video that she died with a smile on her face. Phyllis and Liberace were friends.
Phyliss Diller still the funniest comedian- loved her so much
phyllis Diller funniest woman ever
What a blessing she was to the world.
Classy lady and comedian. Promoting the Arts and safe communities working together in small town America. She must have been a wonderful human.
Phyllis certainly deserved this award and many more. She was extremely talented and funny. She worked hard to achieve her dream. You were and are something special, Miss Phyllis, and take it easy now and rest in peace.
Phyllis had a great laugh. I'll never forget it.
Growing up, I loved Phyllis. Truly an icon for eternity. An amazing woman.
Just incredible... oh boy the very last words in this interview where she says "leave the laughs in", just bowled me over. I was a very young vocal performer when I discovered the laughing giggling sighing making human expressions over the microphone was priceless. It gives the audience a broader sense of Who You are. It's a very intimate personal way of transmitting once's persona. Thank you Phyllis for that special affirmation. She will always be my idol.
What a funny and beautiful woman...heart and soul! She and my dear Mamma both passed in 2012...Phyllis in August and my Mom in December....and they were both born in the same year. Yes, Phyllis is right, it is troubling what society has become, especially with the kids of today. Mass shootings and the likes, at schools, etc., is very sad! My Mom would always say that it all starts from the cradle and parents play a big role in those early years in most instances. Where did all the values and having love and respect for one another go? ...Anyway, beautiful and touching interview with Phyllis, Len...and she still had it to the end! Loved that last joke...and her *LAUGH!* ....Seems fitting to say this after seeing that handsome portrait of her dear friend Bob Hope.... *THANKS* for the memories dear Phyllis...and dear Bob too! Bet Phyllis is keeping my Mom and everyone in stitches in Heaven! ;D
we love her and always will!
Awesome!
she made me laugh sense i was a little kid its been a great60 some odd yrs thank you Phyllis Diller
Grace and charm like hers is rare today. On top of that she was a brilliant wit and a true lady.
“You’re 42 and the principal!” LMAO 😂😂😂
I love and miss Phyllis. She was a good friend of Liberace. There isn't any actresses and actors like this anymore. Legendary Phyllis.
Very cool lady!
She was a true talent!! fantastic person.
some may not realize that she was a talented concert pianist and spent her later performance years often doing charity music performances.
Wow, at 95 and two months before she passed her mind is still as sharp as a tack. Everyone loved her.
Rest in peace sweet lady!
Can't believe Phillis Diller is in her 90s, her 96th year! Her face lifts work; many look like the faces are stretch. Maybe it isn't so bad to live into your tenth decade.
Wow -she is incredible
Lifetime achievement award was right on time... I think she passed feeling truly accomplished & at peace..
I love her body of work, I miss her and thank you for uploading. I fear Ms Diller and the other wonderful ladies we've recently lost this decade have left the world a beige-coloured, humourless and politically correct landscape. Ms Diller was indeed the first trailblazer but over and above that, she was funny - genuinely funny and from all accounts at least in my experience and knowledge, a kind heart. Heaven must be in stitches, laughing.
GRACIOUS LADY
So lovely to hear her reminiscing and talking about her home town. This made me tear up and I dont know why RIP Phyllis thank you for the laughs
God bless her heart! Such an amazing woman
I laughed just hearing her laugh! I wish that I would have made it a point to see her live. Damn!
I loved everything about this amazing, eccentric, dynamic and talented woman. I will forever miss you Miss Diller... You were one in a million!
That truly was a hallarios jolk at the end. Unexpected ending!! She was amazing, even a couple of months before she passed!
Phyllis had a beautiful home in Brentwood, CA. (Ironically, on the same street as O.J. Simpson's old place).
I saw it in person about a dozen or so years ago, while doing the old "map to the star's home" self-guided tour. As luck would have it, the gates were open because there were workmen sawing tree limbs and what-no. I. Phyllis was standing in front of this huge picture window peering out and watching the progress. What a thrill that was for me. I used to love her corny jokes. She said in her act once that she "has a friend in Beverly Hills who's had her face-lifted so many times there's nothing left in her shoes!"
What a wonderful woman! And her contagious laugh!!
She was an electric personality even at 95!!! Love Phyllis Diller. Beautiful person 💛
Nice to see her sweet and kind side we always knew she had.
My favorite comic from my childhood
As an up and coming comic I am totally inspired and in love with Phillis! She is such an icon in the game!
Thank you so much for this! God bless you, Sir!
