I love old non turbo engines, requieres a good driver to be driven properly. Those C5 and 407 quite underrated cars, very cheap nowadays. Good video, Joe!
Yeah but repair costs for C5 are nightmare. It comes to the point where repairs are just not worth it anymore because it surpasses the overall worth of the car.
That's not a C5 I, but a C5 II. Many people mix the generations up because they only look at the form of the car but doesn't realize that Citroen changed its C5-generations in 2004. You may now be wondering why I know this. Because I drove one of them from 2005 to 2019 and my papers that I got from Citroen back in 2005 when I bought a brand new car clearly said C5 II. The following generation was the C5 III.
I have a C5 ll , 2005, 2.0Hdi Exclusive. After driving a 2016 DS5 for 3 years I much prefer the C5, the older car. It has the superb Hydractive 3 suspension, the original oleo-pneumatic system which was used for many years in DS, GS, CX. The DS5 has electric steering too which I found imprecise. The DS5 is not as well screwed together as the C5. The DS5 rear doors are very tinny much like an old Mk 3 Ford Cortina. The C5 has the same level of gizmos and a a better overall feel than the DS5. It got me to Spain and back without missing a beat.
In my humble opinion the 2.0i already looks just enough for a car that size, the 1.8 is definitively underpowered. Does anyone have one like it? how is fuel consumption for these?
i had one it is underpowered yes and consume like a 2.0 or more because you need to accelerate always. only scenario where it doesnt drink too much is very flat roads at 70-100kph
it was a very comfortable car and alot of space perfect for familly or go to work. but prefer 2.0 HDI 140hp version alot more torque and consume only 5.5L
If you drive conservatively on the highway, around 7L/100kms, if you drive the speed limit, like 130kmh, expect 9-10L and too much noise From my experience the 1.8 pulls just fine in the right gear, but it is not fast once you get past 110kmh. What I do like is that it pulls very well in second
This car have the best suspension ever

Me too. It feels like at home. I hate the modern digital screen infested interiors.

Nice video. I am waiting for a video with the new generation of VW Tiguan or Honda CR-V, please.
@Joe Black please make a video with the second gen c5 tourer!
Jeżdżę c5 2004 rok przedlift. Oprócz paliwożernego, zmulonego silnika 1.8 to kocham to auto
