That's probably because that at the very begging of the Chinese Communist Revolution, the main site of Mao Zedong and his Soviet Republic of China was in southern China, mainly Jiangxi province. After the 3rd International sent the German military consultant Otto Braun the Soviet Republic of China lost its battle against KMT's 5th "Encirclement" and was forced to "Long March", when they first arrived in Shannxi province local peasants had never heard of communism at all, so Mao had a low peasant support at that time. What's more, peasant support was an important reason for Mao's victory, but not the only one. KMT's army corruption and low public support is also an important reason, since ancient China, Chinese peasants have been always restricted in their lands and exploited by landlords, Mao's communist government and Red Army forced landlords to give their lands to poor peasants, which is why all peasants support the communist party. Province of Sinkiang under Sheng Shicai(盛世才)'s reign(1933-1944) was pretty much like all other warlords in china at that time, de jure an autonomy province of ROC and de facto semi-independent state. To correct you guys, Sheng was NEVER a Communist or Islamic or possessed by any other faith(could be easily confused by playing HOI4 if you're not familiar with Chinese history, coz it'll always joining the 3RD International in the game), he was purely an opportunist like many other Chinese warlords in his time, struggling between great powers eg. USSR Japan and ROC, trying to keep his rule over the land. In fact, he kept close relationship with USSR during most of the time of his reign in Sinkiang, even once asked Stalin to accept Sinkiang as an SSR integrating into Soviet Union, as he actually cannot control the province on his own any longer(rebelion against him was overwhelming), but after Stalin's refuse based on the good relationship of USSR and ROC at the time, he turned to chiang kai-shek the leader of ROC again, joining his Chinese Nationalist Party(which is extremely anti-communism) and pledged royalty to Chiang himself. In the end of the story Sheng's title over Sinkiang was replace by Chiang right after his surrender, coz by nature Chiang won't be trusting him anymore.
That's true, Sheng Shicai is never a communist, it is just because Sinkiang shares a border with USSR so that Sheng became an "opportunist-communist" in order to seek for Stalin's help. What's more, after the anti-Japanese war, Sheng's father-in-law's family, 10 people at all, were killed by several pre-northeastern army soldiers. Since when Sheng Shicai killed lots of communists (including Mao Zedong's brother Mao Zemin), he also killed northeastern army soldiers. So Sheng Shicai is not a communist, he even killed a lot of communists. And Sheng Shicai is a Han Chinese from northeastern China, its government is not an integration of politics and religion, such as the "East Turkestan Islamic Republic" led by Xoja Niyaz Haji.

You're actually wrong about the foreign investors part of the focus tree. You can go down them without the other country being communist. Either from being in a faction with them or them having a 75 or higher opinion of you (so, if you want their stuff, improve relations).
It seems that Shanxi is likely to choose the "Co-operate with Communists" national focus line if you choose the historical focus option, probably because that Shanxi was bound by communist China...

(and I guess you could always just change ideology again once you finished the Communist Tree)
If anyone wonders - in the period it took Pravus winning Shanxi it is possible to not only beat Shanxi but Xibei San Ma as well and been half wave done with Sinkiang. You just move your troops through gap in enemy lines, grab capital and encircle entire fronts while pinning down with your own troops (it is not like you will generate any significant losses even attacking across river into mountain compared to your manpower...). By the time Japan declares war on Nationalist China, you are done with northern warlords and comparable to Nat. China factory wise as well having some 38 milion population within borders and can just build up as Nationalist and Japanese duke it out on narrow front. In every game I followed that strategy it gives around 2 years of time to build up before Nat. China starts collapsing and needs help. By that time it is possible to have between 3-4 full armies of infantry just defending your long border with Japan and start thinking about deploying armies to focus on offensive against Japan pupets. Also technology choices and National Focuses order in this order were quite meh which didn't help. My advice get 3rd research slot asap, instead of getting bonuses to research, focus on Infantry Weapons from '36 and doctrine first. Allocate all conquered factories into new guns research line as they cost the same and will start at same low efficiency so it is better to have '36 variant being your go-to for most of the game instead of basic weapons. In later patches they added National Spirit for Maoism which reduces infantry weapons industry cost bu 10% and further down the NF tree there is optional additional 10%.
8 width works, you want the width to be a factor of 40, which 8 is. Not that it matters at the start as commie China, you just want as many divisions as possible to exploit gaps in the front lines
Quick suggestion for this playthrough, Mountaineers will be the bees knees mixed with Motorized, Logistics company, Recon, Field hospitals, at least early game since the majority of China will be mountainous. Tanks while good in China can be a hindrance, Mechanized would be better.
Another way of winning is to rush the tree were you take over weak neighbors getting free war goals. Having conquered the northwestern warlords and fast-forwarding a little, this eventually should lead into Japan conquering into deep Chinese territory while you have like around 50-70 divisions, on horseback with no weapons or equipment or training.... No Frontline.. just a zigzag and go behind the Japanese and take over their ports. used two divisions that are equipped and trained to isolate and defend key points. Unconventional way to play, it is very cheesy but this the hardest faction the play by far.
i know tis old, but in case it ain't been said yet, the right side of the tree doesn't require nations being communist to go down it, they just need a 75 opinion of you is all
Actually, I've discovered a good method of beating cliques including Shanxi, Xibei Sanma and Sinkiang, train a lot of 1-cavalry-battalion cavalry divisions, and since these cliques have quite long boarders but few divisions, there must be some states empty, through which our 1-cavalry-divisions can quickly insert and expand in enemies' back, which is quite similar to the German blitz, but using cavalry instead of panzer...
What's more, northwestern China has terrible terrains that it is such a difficult thing to make the attack bubble green, and there is more defence bonus, which guarantees that even a one-battalion division can hold on for a long time. So it is quite easy to maintain the battleline even using the one-battalion division.
Using this method, it is not a tough thing to annex all northwestern warlords including Sinkiang before the Japanese start to invade China, just notice that if you declare war on Sinkiang without joining Communist International, the Soviet Union may send volunteers to Sinkiang, so make sure that the cavalry will reach Urumqi within 7 days before Sinkiang is able to receive volunteers.
7:15 Democratic Socialism and Social Democracy are not the same, at all. One is capitalist with social policies (Social Democracy), another is socialist with capitalist policies or just plain socialist (Democratic Socialism).
in my gameplay i tried this strategy but when the war started after 2 month they had like 17 divisions already and they were not passive like in your gameplay
The entire right side is shared between all Chinese. So its more for nationalists and not communists. But you can imporve relations and become BFF with germany.

Dude, when did all these new mechanics come in? I miss the old game
Да, the revolution can never end!
When i watched this all i see is ads not regular ads but i normally get huawei ads but no it is apple
How did you get that focus tree? I only have the default one
Buy the DLC called "Waking the tiger". If you don't have the focus tree you only have the vanilla version of the game.
Did you get mutinies in the army bug? I tried all options many times litterally over 10 times and I get no result.
when you max out your production rate but China have a brilliant general
I feel like Daniel brain right now.
Yes yes yes yes yes YES YES YES YES
Watching this Commi gameplay makes me hungry
Brave under enemies' gunfire, march on !
Always going with General Lin Biao, always my go to. A fanatic which caused his downfall, but a absolute UNIT of a general.
I just trained a fuckton of troops and walked around their lines
8 width works, you want the width to be a factor of 40, which 8 is. Not that it matters at the start as commie China, you just want as many divisions as possible to exploit gaps in the front lines
Quick suggestion for this playthrough, Mountaineers will be the bees knees mixed with Motorized, Logistics company, Recon, Field hospitals, at least early game since the majority of China will be mountainous. Tanks while good in China can be a hindrance, Mechanized would be better.
There's now a limit to how many special forces divisions you can have. Only a certain percent of your total forces. No more Space Marines.
Okay but still a couple of divisions of Mountaineers would be helpful in dealing with the mountains regions surrounding Communist China
Sinkiang is also a war lord
i know tis old, but in case it ain't been said yet, the right side of the tree doesn't require nations being communist to go down it, they just need a 75 opinion of you is all
Good video. Thanks.
很难想象毛爷爷是怎么做到的
So pravus doesent know about the doctorine switching trick...
Using this method, it is not a tough thing to annex all northwestern warlords including Sinkiang before the Japanese start to invade China, just notice that if you declare war on Sinkiang without joining Communist International, the Soviet Union may send volunteers to Sinkiang, so make sure that the cavalry will reach Urumqi within 7 days before Sinkiang is able to receive volunteers.
why does he play with historical focuses on?
I have managed to get in Comintern without wooing Soviets by the marxist focus tree. However, they wouldn't help me in the war with Japan.
YES
7:15 Democratic Socialism and Social Democracy are not the same, at all. One is capitalist with social policies (Social Democracy), another is socialist with capitalist policies or just plain socialist (Democratic Socialism).
Is this game ban in china or?
in my gameplay i tried this strategy but when the war started after 2 month they had like 17 divisions already and they were not passive like in your gameplay
Let's give Chairman Mao a Chair. He is also tired.
Did you see how fast those troops moved... :((((
Music a bit too loud
Hello everybody and welcome back to more hearts of iron evolved
*doesnt mention the emperor of manchukuo is the last Qing emperor*
Actually, the CCP gained most of its support from farmers. 😂
peasant rise up
The entire right side is shared between all Chinese. So its more for nationalists and not communists. But you can imporve relations and become BFF with germany.
Better then the American start you had in the last play through
Good to know you can reclaim Mongolia
What’s the best China to play as?
New "Battle of Taiyuan", though different forces
this is a mod?
Pravus next please do the civil war Germany way
