THIS JOB PUSHED ME TO THE EDGE
ALEX IS STILL AWAY IN SWEDEN SO I AM ON MY OWN ON A STRAIGHT FORWARD JOB BUT CHALLENGING BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE WALKING UP AND DOWN STAIRS THAT I NEEDED TO DO.
I CUT OUT A DOORWAY AND INSTALL TWO CONCRETE LINTELS BETWEEN TWO BEDROOMS SO A LOT OF DUST SHEETS AND CARPET PROTECTION WAS NEEDED. THIS ALONE TOOK OVE RTWO HOURS TO SET UP.
I USED OUR MILWAUKEE DRILL AND SAWZALL AS THE WALLS WERE THERMALITE BLOCKS.
SIDE ONE WAS VERY EASY SIDE TWO WAS NOT AS IT WAS ORIGIONALLY AN EXTERNAL WALL SO UNDER THE DRY LINING PLASTER BOARD WAS VERY TOUGH RENDER.....ENJOY

Thanks Steve, great video. That was a hard couple of days graft. Funny the owner never even removed the pictures from the wall. Beautiful job. Hope all has gone well with the hip. I missed what you've done with Alex, you needed him on this one. Great channel.

@@SteveAndAlexBuild Best wishes for when you finally get it done. If your surgeon is as good at what he does as you are at what you do, everything should work out fine. I am the last person to give advice but I think you should be mindful of some of the extreme lifting that you sometimes do. Get some strong in the arm, weak in the head types to come along from the gym for some weight lifting with Steve & Alex. Other options might be to quote higher on the shitty and heavy jobs or get a pet gorilla to help with the heavy stuff. Best regards to you both.

Great work Steve as always, attention to detail and a full clean up is a lot of work on your own, feel your pain with the stairs, being a lift engineer on repairs/installation since 1976, wish I had a pound for every stair I'd done in that time lol, I'd definately left a message on that mirror 😅.
Again great work as always, love watching the channel.👍

I hate the cleanup and putting all my tools into the different compartments of my work truck. Do they have RAM board over there? It is a very heavy paperboard you unroll and tape to the flooring and carpet. It helps immensely during final cleanup. You just roll it up and toss it. I used it in one of my videos where I took down a ceiling on a top floor and raised it 18 inches. The carpets were brand new "The Augusta project" you can see the Ram board in the introduction

Thanks for the support and your concern . Unfortunately here in the UK most trades people are self employed which means no work = no money so I need to battle on until I get my new hip replacement. I will then have 6 week’s minimum rest .
Alex is my rock and I would be lost without him . I’m so proud that I get to work with my son who looks after me so well 🥰🥰🧱👍🏽

@@SteveAndAlexBuild I can only imagine the awful situation you find yourself in, about half our work force are self employed and have no help unless they have private insurance in place which is so expensive some just hope for the best. We pay our regular self employed guys a percentage towards their medicare but it does not cover their loss of wages, one guy recently had a hip replacement at a cost of $30k he had to pay the 1st $5k and waited 4 months for the operation 💩 I guessed Alex would be around to take the pressure off you, he seems a great guy ......this is the way

Would an angle grinder with dust extractor attachment have got through the render & created a neater job in the bedroom?.....if there is such a thing.
I suppose part of the problem is that you cannot carry too many gadgets & tools, otherwise you would need a lorry to lug them about.
Got the job done. Hope the hip operation went well 👍

@@SteveAndAlexBuild we currently in bad times. The whole system needs to collapse to rebuild a new one. This is an end of an age ,equivalent to the fall of Rome. The system has been corrupted in every sector of life. A big change is coming for the better of mankind. Bloody hell. Getting a skip and not filling it to the brim is not a criminal offense you know, especially when compared to spending more time clearing out than you do actually working. Next time, have a skip, and if possible install a trash chute out the window directly into the skip to avoid almost all those tedious trips up and down the stairs.

Well done yet again, ding it right without doing “too much” which gets you in another pickle, so yeah good idea to use anchors over toothing where you have to - I do the easy anchor thing when I can, especially when it’s blind work anyway. But then we never had saws like that, and chiseling is only so much fun. Those saws are a godsend, but yeah they do bite. Prefer them over a grinder any day personally, the much lower risk factor is worth a bit of time and effort imo.
