I've been playing this game with all the characters on normal to check their strengths, weakness, etc... Pretty much beat the game with almost every single character (only skate left) with 1 credit and with the good ending, surprisingly Roo had the best score amongst everyone else (600.000 points or higher I believe) but still, I doubt that I could achieve something as impressive as a deathless run. Amazing display of skill you show in this video as well as the other sor3 videos.

The secret characters in this game are weird. You have Roo who’s kinda amazing, but also bad sometimes on top of having no upgrades? You also have Shiva, who’s unfinished, but has the best anti-air and “back attack” in the game. Which is enough to make him the best character. Roo being slightly unfinished, and Shiva even more so was a product of this game being rushed (still kinda fun tho). I’d really love to see betas of this game being leaked. It’d really show what might’ve went on in development.
There's actually a better infinite combo with Roo, you have to do 3 punches and then punch backwards (tail attack) and repeat. I swear this kangaroo is broken 😁
Roo isn't as hard as you think, at least to me. He's the easiest character to use for me, I played with the norm characters with 5 lives and lost on like the 3rd stage. With Roo I made it so far and when I died died for the first time I changed to Shiva and got wrecked and went back to Roo. Weird how a kangaroo is better than a boss before the final boss that kicks everyone's ass.
Roo unfortunately isn't the best due to his lack of power and range, his primary jab hits twice which is awesome. But honestly I prefer Zan, he easily demolishes the Jet fight along with Axel
As someone who mains Zan, playing as Roo is excruciating. He has no range and no throws, and not much to make up for it but speed, an awkwardly high jump, and a tail whip. I have beaten Hard with everyone except this cursed character.
His jab and jump are buffed in this version, so the jab always does two hits and he jumps higher. His improved jab makes spamming it more effective. As for the jump, I think it is good for fighting Jet and Rocket and avoiding certain attacks/obstacles. Even then, he is still one of the harder characters to use, and he struggles in the final battle with Robot Y.
Even though I had no problem beating the game with all the characters except Roo because he's the weakest character in the game but you can still beat the game with him if you good enough right now I'm on stage 6 with him with 8 lives because when I first played Streets of Rage 3 back in 2011 I couldn't pass the first stage with him now years has passed by and now I have gotten better with him but honestly in my opinion the two lockable character should have been Adam Hunter and Max Thunder don't get me wrong Shiva was pretty good in the game but in my opinion it just doesn't make sense because he's a bad guy working for mr. X so yeah the two lockable character should have been Adam Hunter and Max Thunder that's how it should have been I guess Sega didn't really care for the franchise even though I liked Streets of Rage 3 better because it was more stuff to do in the game but I'm just saying they could have made this game better if they really wanted to it was just laziness and they didn't want to use they brain it really pissed me off instead of giving us a badass character they give us a kangaroo with boxing gloves and in the Japanese version they gave us Ash who by the way sucked also so yeah this game was good but not good enough same goes with Streets of Rage 1 & 2 and that's why I love Streets of Rage remake because there were actually things to do in that game so thank you bomber games for not letting the franchise die
Adam and/or Max would have been great choices for unlockable characters. On Steam Workshop, there is a ROM hack out that allows you to play as Adam and Max in a modified version of Bare Knuckle III. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=675893652 Maybe Streets of Rage 3 had time constraints to work under, so you have issues like Zan's beta grapple attack left in or playable Shiva's incomplete move set. Still, I can't say for sure because I don't think there's that much info about the game's development around.

Roo, Dr Zan and adult skate need to be added to streets 4 along with the estel, max, shiva DLC, I think they could do an amazing job, also could include the first 3 streets in the original retro style, or the option to play through with brand new redesigned classic stages with redesigned old school enemies being able to play as the entire SOR 1 2 3 4 roster, SOR 1 2 3 4 Story, Arcade, Battle etc, we are getting new exclusive music which sounds dope as hell, would be amazing to hear all the original ost from the first 3 games, classic and new variations to have an entire music album of every track back then and now, I think if you add 4 player online with a good netcode, full colour pallet and customizations for each character, the choice to choose 2 different star moves for every character, if by some miracle this happened, i dont think you could ask for anymore that is the Ultimate Streets Of Rage Experience infact thats your name right there, release that shit my bank is card ready, who cares if it cost, take my notes Dotemu, we need this

The third punch is a little slow and doesn't do as much damage as the jab. I usually skip that punch if I'm doing that infinite.
