It is also important to know that the same party advocating for the storage law in Colorado and these other gun control measures voted down a proposed bill that would make theft of a firearm a felony. Currently, the law bases the severity of the theft charge on the value of the firearm, the same as any other property. As a result, the theft of most firearms, which are only worth on average $300 - $500, is typically only a misdemeanor. The penalty for failing to properly store your firearm is greater than the penalty faced by the person stealing it. The legislature is not making any effort to punish the criminals stealing and misusing firearms.

Bullets went through over a dozen apartments, including the bedroom of a young girl, but nobody was hurt, not even either of the drug dealers. One of the drug dealers was a local and the other was an illegal immigrant. Both were arrested, charged, and released without bail, and neither showed up for trial. Never been punished, and jailed for only the briefest of times. Yet, they want to punish US, the law abiding people, for this.

I am a 4th generation native Coloradan. I live on the retired Air Force base in Denver where my grandfather took off in 1942 to go fight in WWII. Colorado was where I left to become a soldier and deployed from to "fight for freedom." I wish I could still be a proud Coloradan who is raising a 5th generation native Coloradan. Instead I can't wait to leave a beautiful state that me and my family have called home for 5 generations.

I live in Colorado and most Sheriffs won't enforce these laws. Our Sheriff doesn't even enforce the magazine size limit. I can go right now and grab a 30 rnd mag from my local gun store. Let em try, we won't comply.
As a Colorado resident, this ban would greatly risk my ability to conceal carry. I am basically restricted to carrying a revolver. They knew the ripple effect of what these bills and bans would impact. I am furious and it’s unconstitutional.
I went to go testify with many others against at AR 15 Hbar ban here in Maryland a few years ago. We kept the committee there with our testimony until 3am. Luckily the ban did not pass committee. I couldn't have more proud of the Maryland 2A community as I was that day
I'm Australian and a 2A supporter. Have been since early childhood. Quite a bit of my pocket money as a child went on US based gun magazines because they had better information in them. I'm dead against anything restricted and the real reason for the 2A was not hunting or even defence against common criminals but against tyrants in govt. This is why I say even your 1934 NFA is completely unconstitutional. I'd also put the kybosh on banks being able to say no we won't deal with you because you are buying or selling something we don't like. I'd ban them mandating anything.
Every point you made is spot on. The nfa, the gca, the Hughes amendment and any/all gun bans are unconstitutional and need repealed or struck down. And the atf needs abolished
Also from Colorado Springs and can honestly state that Denver and Boulder have a governor and a representative government, the rest of us do not. if you value your Rights you need to vote to preserve them.
Most state and local gov ignore the Supreme Court the only solution is federal legislation to make it illegal for state and local gov to regulate firearm and self-defense laws.
I’m a Colorado native and the Owner of Oasis Custom Firearms in Colorado Springs. I am very familiar with Dragan man’s as it has been a cornerstone of our city for 40 years. Very good video and I am so glad to see this action and the additional videos she has been posting lately on this subject. I have been very active in the 2A fight in Colorado for the last 10 years. I helped co-found a bill with Larry Liston to increase the penalties for firearms and ammunition theft and testified against the Mass shooting assault weapons ban of 2023. I fully agree that the Colorado 2A community has its head in the sand. Most don’t even know what’s going on and were surprised when I informed them of of the states actions when they came into my store. The only local 2A advocacy group is Rocky Mountain gun owners and they are not near as big enough to hold the line on this battle. The anti 2A legislation in The past 2 years has actually put a huge strain on the gun industry in Colorado, so much so that unfortunately I did have to make a business decision and relocate my business to another state in January of 2024 when an opportunity presented itself so that my business didn’t get caught in the middle of a license term or lease term when one of these bills stick and force my family into debt. I hated leaving my state that I grew up in. But I am still very proactive in spreading the word in and for Colorado with some of the most devastating bills coming to the senate floor in Colorado history. Colorado needs to stand up. Every single citizen matters in this fight. Call you state representatives, they HAVE TO TAKE YOUR CALL, Email them, show up.

What do you call a Republican that wrongly thinks Democrats don’t own guns? Republicans are no longer traditional, conservative, moral, or American so the old labels no longer apply.
What does a conservative call a criminal that never breaks the law? A book owner. Stop the bullshit. This is no longer a Left/Right issue. It's an extremism issue on BOTH sides. People need to wake up and look in the mirror. Anyone saying, "it's not me" is part of the issue.
I live in Colorado, and because of these bills, I bought my first AR yesterday. I'm going in to get my semiautomatic shotgun in two weeks. Gotta get them while I can.
It's important to buy guns. But it's far more important (and effective) to fund Second Amendment Lobbying Organizations like the NRA, GOA, NAGR, etc. etc. etc.
Wow thank you so much for having Ava on to talk about everything we’re struggling with in Colorado. Our news stations do not cover all the legislation trying to be passed and very few people are aware of what is happening
The politicians here voted against punishment for stealing a gun but want to punish gun owner manufacturers and social media but not the criminal who stole the gun
Excellent video. If any legitimate organization is challenging such anti-2A laws in the court systems I'm willing to be a named plaintiff. I've been fighting these laws since GCA68 was being debated in 1967. It's what got me involved in politics to begin with, when I was a young guy in college. I live in Castle Rock in Colorado. Vietnam vet (if that helps), retired, disabled, avid shooter and gun owner. I moved here from California to get away from such insanity. Looks like it didn't do much good, sadly.
The states and local governments explicitly do not have the right or jurisdiction to enforce anything having to do with weapons or the use or carry of weapons. That all falls under federal jurisdiction because that is a federally enumerated right and federal law. Allowing state and local governments to change and modify our rights and forcing citizens to assert their rights in court costing 10's or 100's of thousands of dollars, jail time or even costing their lives to do so is not legal. It is criminal. In order for the Constitution to be law and for the bill of rights to be law, they must be congruent on every square inch of US owned territory. PERIOD.
Absolutely and with this system you can spend thousands of dollars making that very argument in the courts while you rot, out of sight, in prison for decades hoping to eventually, maybe, get a toothless declaration from SCOTUS that agrees with you! The system is a fraud. A dog and pony show to appease certain interests and empower others, while presenting the facade of a free nation. A nation of laws and “equal protection under the law.” 😮😢😵💫
Great presentation. We all need to fight for our rights. I live in Colorado, and our local government has been neglecting the real problem with gun ownership. It's not our firearms. It's the folks that have them, whether legally obtained or not, that are mentally unstable. The amount of illegal immigrants in this state is a growing problem that our government isn't addressing, which in turn leads to more situations where good law-abiding citizens are being forced to defend themselves and family. People need to quit fearing our guns and start fearing the government who fears our guns. Keep up the fight and protect our 2A rights. There's a reason it's so high on the list. Without it, we are just subjects. God bless.
Well take a look at Cali, Illinois, New York, Washington State, and 10 other states. You'll get your Rights back in 5-10 years though endless court battles and millions of dollars.
Yeah but they do it anyway, knowing that it will take years before the SCOTUS sets things straight (if they ever do). By then they just have another unconstitutional law on deck to start the process again. They are violating their oath to uphold and protect the constitution in so doing, and it's a tactic the progressives have begun employing everywhere recently because they know now that they can get away with it. That oath used to mean something to the voters but no longer.
Sorry to hear Colorado has been taken over by bad politicians. We used to go to Colorado for vacation quite often. I guess they will no longer get my tourist money.
The insurance thing is, I think, intended to be much more direct. 1. Require gun owners carry liability insurance 2. Insurance companies see this as potentially infinite liability and refuse to offer policies 3. Lawmakers: "Can't find a policy to comply with the law? Too bad, so sad, now turn over the hardware or we send in SWAT."
There were successful recalls following the mag ban in 2013. Progressives are one of the fastest growing owners after everything that happened in 2020.
its crazy. colorado just introduced a bill to allow people with medical marijuana cards to have a CCW, then they do this.... wtf kind of mental gymnastics are they doing out there?
Hate to say it but any state that “decriminalizes” Maryjane always draw Californians and when Californians move in. They bring their ideology with them.
The owner of the range I go to in MA went to testify in front of the legislators there during the hearing. He’s from Colorado so it’s still very important to him, and as a gun store owner in Massghanistan it’s paramount that more of these unconstitutional bans aren’t passed.
Kudos to that FFL in from Massachusetts taking that trip to Colorado. I’m haling from Connecticut and there’s ONLY two FFLs at the Hartford’s capital out of all gun stores there!!! They were Lock N Load of Plantsville CT and Newington Gun Exchange of Newington CT. CCDL was able to get over 4000 testimonies against HB 6667 but they passed this garbage!!!
Please just keep donating to GOA, FPC, SAF, and whichever state organization you have- if every gun owner in the country would just donate the same amount of money that they spend on a half a case of ammo would be tens of millions of dollars more to get into the fight It costs upwards of $1 million to get a case all the way to the Supreme Court. We are fighting against billionaires and activists with nothing better to do than to try to strip our rights. Politicians won’t stand up for us and do the right thing and if they keep passing unconstitutional laws, we have three choices, support these groups that fight the battles in court, or two of the four boxes, the ballot box, or the cartridge box.

As someone who was born in Texas and was transplanted to Colorado when I was 12, I'm starting to think that it may be time for me to go back to where I came from. With the current cost of living, housing prices, bipolar weather, and the 2A issues, this state just doesn't seem like it's worth it anymore.
Brother, I was born in Oklahoma. Although I got here around 25ish, I feel the same way. I'd like to fight, take up arms, or protest, but I feel as if it is a lost cause. Besides, the people here still believe that out-of-staters are ruining the state. Plus, they are much too compliant in the face of tyranny. Maybe something will change my tune in a bit, but at the time of this writing, Colorado and her people are a lost cause. Rest in peace, Colorado. What you once were will swiftly be forgotten.
I am fairly certain there was never anything "good" about CO except for the mountains and nature. It may look pretty, like CA, but it really is a s**tshow.
I get annoyed by people that make super generalized statements like "they voted for this they deserve what they get" when someone from commiefornia or NY has something bad happen... As a Colorado resident, this was very helpful information for me. I will be getting more involved in the political process going forward, I really appreciate the practical nature of this conversation
We already are, some areas are trying to force us to send our children to school, rather than homeschooling, last I checked that was against the constitution as well.
Dragonman rules!! Thanks Ava!! In Colorado Springs and El Paso county we don’t comply with many of the nonsense laws brought down from Denver but I don’t think we can not comply our way out of the AWB. Need to kill the bill before it makes it to law, and crush the others, too. One of the reasons I moved here from statist, lost-cause Massachusetts was because Colorado was supposed to be a purple state with a majority of political independents, but it’s fast becoming blue and I find that really discouraging. I don't meet anyone in Colo Springs that is anti-gun, regardless of their other political beliefs.
Ava has really stepped up as a true patriot and voice of the people, in addition to being a gunner. I have watched her stand by me and testify for years now, and I am very proud to have her representing Colorado gun owners. Thank you for using your platforms to bring national awareness to this and get more people and organizations involved. If only more people used their platforms to support states like mine, we would probably not be here right now. Please keep this up. The more united we are, the better we are. BE RELENTLESS.

As an Army veteran, I want to thank you both for speaking out about protecting the rights that my brothers and sisters in uniform and I swore to uphold. Keep fighting the good fight!
Excellent discussion. We left Colorado before this crap hit the fan but it makes me so sad. The cost of living was the breaking point for us but this is just absurd.
There's so many bills going on here in Colorado. A tax bill for sale of firearms and ammo, more training to get a ccw, a ban to carry in sensitive places. I'm a native as well, the list goes on and on. And this new AR ban also states when you die, those arms have to be destroyed. Can't hand them down, they'll become criminals with fines fo up to 500,000.00 if they take possession.

As a Colorado resident, this ban would greatly risk my ability to conceal carry. I am basically restricted to carrying a revolver. They knew the ripple effect of what these bills and bans would impact. I am furious and it’s unconstitutional.

Excellent video. If any legitimate organization is challenging such anti-2A laws in the court systems I'm willing to be a named plaintiff. I've been fighting these laws since GCA68 was being debated in 1967. It's what got me involved in politics to begin with, when I was a young guy in college.

But they are still coming for us.
PERIOD.
California passed a law this year for an 11% tax on guns *AND AMMO* and nobody is talking about it, not even these two.
@@curly__3: False, go read the Constitution. This is in no way anything to do with the federal government! I'm appalled!

God bless.
I live in Colorado and they’ve been told by the Supreme Court they can’t be doing this crap
Yeah the heavily controlled Socialist legislature with Polis and Griswald won’t listen to SCOTUS.
Well take a look at Cali, Illinois, New York, Washington State, and 10 other states. You'll get your Rights back in 5-10 years though endless court battles and millions of dollars.
They don't care about the supreme court. They will just ignore liberty and the courts.
@@ryanguldbrandsen7672 if Biden gets reelected it will be only through a civil war because he will throw the supreme court’s republican judges in jail
