      @@gospodinkenobi9903 From what I understand once these machines are in place they run literally for 24/7 for years and years with the right operators. I was doing some reading on these beasts and of the like. What blows my mind is the weight the table can support while making rapid movements from a dead stop to next position and be within a couple of tenths and repeat that all day long.

    Although I am happy for her, I am a bit envious. Unlike her, I did not follow my father’s foot steps to come a machinist. He was a farmer. I did not enjoy working with my old man so I pursued a different career. My dream was not his dream. When I was in high school, I was in the FFA, and my team took state in the crops competition. He didn’t even congratulate me. Through my own hard work and dedication, I have aches level of greatness in CNC milling. It makes me wonder farther I could have gotten if I had the same support that this young woman has. At best, in my experience with industry I only had three days to sink or swim.

    I'd also like to see someone react to a lathe doing large DoC on a large part since I've always found it more concerning having a part spin at 1000rpm than the tool at 15,000rpm.

      My first machining job was making huge pillow block bearing housings for cargo ships, hydro damns, etc.. I ran the mill and drill operations on old Carlton machinery. Would regularly drill out 3" diameter bolt holes on a minivan sized radial drill. I remember the first time I saw them turn one on a vertical lathe and thinking something that big should never be allowed to spin like that lmao

      @D3nn1s 15 днів тому

      Are you on a manual or cheap mill mb? On those you do it because of spindle rigidity, if your machine is ridgid enough you can do both, with the cut for better surface quality or conventional e.g. on surface hardened parts for longer tool life

    • @cadenkorzan
      @cadenkorzan 12 днів тому +1

      climb milling is in this case going with the spin of the tool. long story short everything about it is better. better on the tool, faster speeds, better finishes, ect. conventional milling aka against the spin in generally recommended for manual machining because the mill has leads screws instead of ball screws. If the cut is big enough the endmill or tool can pull the slop out of the lead screw and cause it to take a big cut instantly and can break your tool where as if you conventional mill it try's to push your part away aka it takes the slope out of the lead screw and there is no where it can go.
      I myself climb mill all the time on manual mills. reason for that is the table and friction is enough to stay still of a lot of aluminum parts and can do that for steel as well. however you got to be care full because it can get ya depending on what shape the mill is in. if the mill is worn and very loose, then mostly conventional milling with a small climb cut to clean the finish up would probably be best. but a newer mill that is tighter you can get away with it. You will know when you take too big of a cut on a manual mill with lead screws and the pressure on the feed handles will drop and you will feel the table being pulled into the endmill.
      But at the end of the day I would say it really comes down to this one question. Does you mill have ball screws like every cnc or does it have leads screws? If the answer is yes then climb mill all day. if the answer is no, conventional mill for the big cuts and climb mill for the finish and smaller cuts
      there could be some materials out there that won't go with this, but for probably 90 percent of all the things you would put on a mill, i would guess this holds true to that. for the most part. personal preference plays a lot to. find something that works for you

    Knowing what 1500 ipm rapids look like, not sure thats moving at 2000ipm, just cause ya program at that feed doesn't mean it gets there. People aways say they are cutting at 400 ipm on a Haas ,, Iv'e had a few, they never get there.
