During this pandemic we hear tons about relying on vaccines, but not so much as a word about diet and gut health to maximize immunity and bolster our over all health to stave off infection, or at least minimize the effects. When even produce choices in the store are grown with chemical fertilizers and pesticides in depleted soils, this free, nutritious little "weed" can boost vitamins, minerals and antioxidants we desperately need! It's an acquired taste for some, but I've learned to love them eaten with a little drizzle of balsamic and some minced onion/garlic, or other aromatics to complement their unique flavor.
I always see this plan in my back yard and never pay it no mind until one day i bought some camomile and i find the both looks the same so i started my research and that brought me to you so thanks for the information
I harvested the seeds for these, I got a couple hundred in like 30 seconds just walking around my house. Took them and grew microgreens, which have a nutty flavor like sunflower microgreens. After just eating a few raw, I feel it is much easier to breathe. I have limited to only a few as I am uncertain of silica or saponin content and toxicity.
The seeds are edible and quite tasty, much more so than the leaves! You just need to sprout them. It only takes a few days. Try to make sure the seeds don't ball up in a big mass because of the little prongs on the end interlocking with other prongs. The fiddly bit is removing the seed case after sprouting, which isn't edible. I eat them on fresh bread. Delicious!
Am living in Kingston Jamaica where the Spanish needle are not common but it started growing in my yard so i wash a peice of it blend it in the blender and make tea but Spanish needle are plenty in the country side here
I have been using this herb for awhile, and have just made a connection with the diuretic action with my urinary habit changes. Think I will ease back a bit. Great video, thanks. I am telling anyone interested about it
Great information I have a ton of these and I did notice how the bees loved it so I would let it grow until it was done flowering. The seeds are what drive me crazy, they get stuck in everthing from my clothes to my cats and dogs fur. But now that I know it is edible that is awesome!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Brighest Blessings!
Wow, cool. I kind of have let my garden beds in the back and side go this year due to construction and this 'weed" has taken over. I knew that it was good for the bees so just let it bee (LOL). May just have to incorporate it as just part of the normal plant bed now! thanxs for the informative video.
So happy I found this video. I have tons in my yard right .. I was wondering if I could u it for flowers essence? Which alcohol to use to make the tintures?
I keep feeling these would be great for allergies and upper respiratory infections, is there any evidence behind that? I'm going to begin my own studies this year
Yes there is good evidence I had the flu in 2019 and that's what get me better but you have to pull it up with the root and flower and the little needles on it wash properly and boil. I add a little honey to it
I think I have this plant growing everywhere I’m in southeast ga it was in my stevia plant that was purchased from a local greenhouse I didn’t know it was not stevia because it was small however it grows everywhere now and is so invasive I think it is pretty but it invades my other plants it grows about 2 feet tall maybe taller in some places I have studied herbs and essential oils and their use. but this plant and it’s use never came up Thank you for the information I am less anxious about it now . I had thought I had ruined the yard by not identifying it and removing it right away I wonder if our chickens would like some 🙂 I will share it with my instructor who has her own business in herbal tinctures etc etc
My instructor tells me this plant can be tinctures it’s has antibiotic properties she uses the roots and the needles put them in a jar with brandy and water or straight vodka it should be 100 proof then let it brew for a few months the needles stick to your clothing like burdock does .i have burdock growing up north in Massachusetts and the roots to that are edible if very young some people dry the roots to make coffee I didn’t care for it anyhow I am happy to find another natural antibiotic . I haven’t taken a/bs in years but have taken echinacea/ goldenseal root a few times when I felt an upper respiratory disturbance brewing It works every time .you can only take it for a few days then stop it helps the immune system kick in. I love it when others share their information about herbs and essential oils blessings to all❤️
Thanks for the video. I have a bunch of this dried out and sitting in a mason jar. Do you know how approximately how many grams one should add per litre of water?
Such great info girl, thank you! Finally am pronouncing the name correctly haha. I just ordered some Bidens Pilosa seeds from Florida and plan to plant and use the leaves for medicine:) Do you know how long it takes for the plant to become full grown?
They will for sure, harvest the plants, boil in water to make tea. Drink hot or cold. Be sure dilute with water after tea is made. Keep the tea in the refrigerator without the cooked plants
Maybe try gathering seeds locally to try again. Sometimes seeds from plants grown outside of our bioregion don't grow as easily. I usually sprinkle seeds on top of the soil and just leave them instead of covering with soil.
Hi I am from jamaica west indies.I used spanish needles for curing pains, cuts, brides, boils and any internal or external problem.
I'm growing this as a butterfly plant. It's very easy to grow and pollinators do like it.
I made tea from the Spanish needle and also eat the leaves raw taste good. I had the flu in November of 2019 and that's what have gotten me better.

We have heard of Bidens Flower Essence. The alcohol is your preference, almost any kind will work to preserve just fine.

It usually takes 1 tsp of dried leaves per 1 cup of water
Such great info girl, thank you! Finally am pronouncing the name correctly haha. I just ordered some Bidens Pilosa seeds from Florida and plan to plant and use the leaves for medicine:) Do you know how long it takes for the plant to become full grown?
Depends on what region you are growing it in, but you can start harvesting leaves within the first few months
Is it good for gas in the belly

I read that the leaves of Spanish needle contain caffeine. Does anybody know how to ferment them?
Purchased seeds online but it did not grow in the pot...Any idea how to grow this plant from seeds? Thanks.
