I am an English architect - started with Foster in London - then 16 years in LA - now in Mexico… Since I was at university I have always loved Doshi’s simplicity and ‘low-tech’ approach… I believe he was inspired by Corb’s “Petit Maison de Weekend” - beautiful stuff
Thanks to the beauty and humility of BV Doshi's vision, i spent the most memorable years of my life in CEPT campus in Ahmedabad (incidently, the ferrocement cave space was constructed on the campus when i was a student there). Today, we see Sustainability as a recently emerged approach to save the planet, which is pushed by those who are concerned about the environment and something which is frequently hi-tech. BV Doshi and other visionaries like him remind us that Sustainability is being aware and inspired by the fundamental play of life and nature and an expression of joy. Thank you for this film.
The articulation of words and the structure of his speech are delightfully meaningful... with the music behind... This video made me high af. He is a Legend.
His contribution to Architecture in India is simply unparalleled over the last 70 years.. Great that the World (Pritzker prize, Padma Bhushan) took note better late than never!
Practicing sustainability way before it was a thing... BV Doshi deserves the Pritzker prize!
