This is my second Ultimate 12. The FX is a significant improvement over the previous version. I'm 215 and agree with most everything you said. I can stand to fish but it's not as stable as my Lure 11.5. Sitting, though, I find the boat very stable. The only "negative" I find is that it doesn't like open/rough water as it can take on water.
A friend of mine has 2 natives, and he let me use one of them when we went fishing. I gotta say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! That's why I am buying one of them from him this week. I'm a little over 250 lbs, and it was super stable. I can't wait to get it. It'll be hard to keep me off the water. Great video review sir
They are great. Had mine for 3 years and it's going strong. I'm in the 240 range and I've had it rigged well over 325 lbs and it was still flawless in the water.
I've had mine for 10 months. My 3 negatives are #1 seat squeeks just terribly. Ive got to try something to lube the seat matterial to the frame. #2 The plastic is really soft. The least bit of dragging on the boat ramp or rocks seems to gauge it pretty deep in the plastic. I mean dragging it like 12" #3 Seriously you are paying a pemium for the Native brand name. On the posatives, it is a great riding and paddling boat, very comfortable, very fishable, great storage space and the available accesories are nice.
@olebiker Do you still run your Ultimate 12 basic? I'm debating on getting one myself for camping/fishing trips up to canoe territory at the Boundary Waters (Northern MN) and the basic looked really appealing with the lightweight for portages, yet kayak type performance.
It looks like You have a full size Anchor Wizard. Did it attach to the rail? Do you recommend it? Did you have to install/add the rope separately from the unit ? How deep does it go? Their web site is awful. Thanks for your help. Great review BTW. Appreciate it
I never attached the anchor stow. I did love the product very much. and had it as deep as 30 to 40 feet. I attached it to the rail on the native and to a plate when I had it on my hobie.
I bought one on year 1.... skeg drops down and I put in an electric motor (3 hp) and anchor loop. You cannot turn it over in any normal use. They were $750 way back then.... New.
ThomasHardenFishing just got the boat...well still got my slayer propel. Think I'm gonna be upping my Lews collection too really like their products. What's your favorite lews Rod or reel?
I don't use the rods but I have felt a few and they are nice. I like the Team Custom Pro Speed Spool if money is not an issue. I like high end reels for flipping and frogging, they are lighter and usually hold up better in the heavy cover. Techniques where you don't put as much pressure on the reel like cranking, a Mach 2 will be easier on the wallet. Every fisherman has their own opinion but I know what works for me.
I'm looking to upgrade to a new fishing kayak. I am older, and paddling has become hard. So I am looking at the pedal kayaks. I really like the slayer propel 10, and the Titan 10.5. Are they worth the money over other pedal kayaks? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. Native makes a superb product...so quality should not be a concern. I think they could improve their seats more, as the Hobies have more adjust-ability for lumbar and leg support. The hobie drives and the motion is "apparently" (not known by yours truly) easier on the knees. I would still say the native propel drive is still the best pedal drive on the market. the single piece construction is indestructible. I think the SP10 will be phased out, the design is dated and both turning radius and speed are not comparable to the titan series. The weight of the new titan is much better than the larger 13.5. The native seat is very comfortable. I'll have a comparison vid of the Mirage vs pedal drives up soon in the coming weeks, working on it now!
I have the Ultimate 12 since the year they were introduced at $750. I would never stand in it... too easy to fall out. Just stay seated or on your knees if you want, but standing in a small boat is too risky.
Because native does not value or take care of their prostaff...they would rather pay Jordan lee thousands of dollars to represent them when I've never seen him in a kayak nor will you.....yet someone like me who directly influenced the bulk of Titan sales in 2017 they could care less...great products I would recommend day in day out
Nice review Lou. I love mine. Bought it in 2014 from DPS, Brian and Chris took real good care of me. I need to get it out more this year. Oh, and that premier snakehead guide on the Potomac has got the Snakehead dialed in. I didn't know he upgraded to the FX model. Would love to hook up with you on the water sometime. I'm down near Middle River, not to far from the Susquehanna.
That’s because it’s a kayak, not a barge with pedals and a million bells and whistles that manufacturers are pandering as kayaks nowadays. The ultimate line is more then stable for fishing. Just sayin.

This kayak is the perfect kayak for kayak camping on river islands. I load this thing down and have a great time.
Great review!!! I got my Slayer Propel 10 because of you. I have to say that I still love my yak. Tight lines buddy!!
Bill York awesome! Thanks for that feedback! I really like knowing when I've helped people.
Just my honest review of a great kayak
Hello, Does it track well. I’m looking to take my dog with me paddling. I like the canoe look. Thanks Scott
Great breakdown and looks like an awesome boat.
Another great review Lou
Randy Mirando thanks bud!
Great review man, I just got my pa12 camo in October
Dick Hoskins excellent you will love it that's the best platform in my opinion!
BeyondTheBounds glad to hear that thank you
I fish out of an Ultimate 12 Basic and I prefer it to any kayak I have ever used for flat water. I used my Slayer when I go out on the flats, though.
olebiker was definitely a ton of fun! I really miss that kayak....I'm gonna give the wilderness system commander a try this year

Bulldog I still use it and really like it. It sounds just about right for Boundary Waters.
Which do you find to be more versatile, the Native Ultimate FX12 or the NuCanoe Frontier 12?
Nice review!💯💪👊LET'S GO!!! Awesome yak💯
thanks again bud!

I have an old Native Redfish 10, just a basic kayak. The one you have looks fancy, wish I had that seat. What kayak do you have now?

Love mine,works great for flyfishing
I miss it for sure
Do you fly fish with it in moving water?
@@hillbillysportsman5818 I fish the upper Mississippi River almost exclusively
great boat, great review
Thank you! I had a real blast fishing that boat. And highly recommend

Good to know! I noticed the Titan 10.5 is only 100 bucks more than the Slayer anyway. Thanks for the reply!
Now if I can just find a dealer near me in Spokane, Washington.
Outdoor Cory Delaware Paddlesports ships all over they are really great guys.....give them a call...they even have financing options
Would you be concerned for a bigger guy 6’2 220lbs if I’m not standing to fish. Seated only. Thanks
nah plenty of guys your size. try to see if you can demo one!
Do you think standability is good for a guy that is 6'2"+?
Excellent review, two questions. How tall are you approximately and what length paddle would you recommend? Thanks
5'7...and 160 is good
Thanks
This things perfect how can I get one in BC
Did you ever try a ultimate fx 15 solo? I am 6 10 and 350 lbs. Found a used one and was looking at it.
I did not sorry
Great video and review. To much $$ for me . Lol , love kayak fishing
Ken Hull well bud your paddle is on the way!!
BeyondTheBounds Thsnks. Definitely will be putting it to some good use this summer
BeyondTheBounds got the paddle last night, thanks again.
I have the Ultimate 12 since the year they were introduced at $750. I would never stand in it... too easy to fall out. Just stay seated or on your knees if you want, but standing in a small boat is too risky.
Most dont have the balance to stamd in this boat
I've seen two videos where people are quitting being native watercraft pro staff so here's my question why are so many people quitting
Because native does not value or take care of their prostaff...they would rather pay Jordan lee thousands of dollars to represent them when I've never seen him in a kayak nor will you.....yet someone like me who directly influenced the bulk of Titan sales in 2017 they could care less...great products I would recommend day in day out
How many and what size Plano boxes can fit under the seat?
Two and they’re the mid to smaller size planos.
What length paddle did you use with this kayak? Thanks
I believe it was 160...werner cypress hooked which i highly recommend..ask the guys at delaware paddle sports...buy there and save on taxes

I think he still rocks the ultimate ...not the fx but they are close to the same
looks like an upgraded ascend 12h. Except you will pay a lot more
Liked!
Kayak Chris thanks buddy I appreciate the support....I'm gonna have more of this type of video coming up in 2018
If i could get a dollar for every time he said "kayak" I'd be able to afford one.
HAHA!! I didn't notice until youmentioned that and now everytime he says "kayak", I find myself laughing
NO THUMBS DOWN SO FAR !!!!
Affordability
If I had a dollar for every time he said Kayak,I could own this one jk love you Lou you vids are great
ThatBlue Guy56 yakkity yak don't talk back! Lol thanks for the comment glad you liked the video!
BeyondTheBounds haha Have a good day man!😜
Put a down payment on one today!
Awesome! It really was a fantastically fun kayak. Great in current.
That "kayak" based on my years of experience looks very unstable with you in it. Just sayin.
I mean...it wasnt a titan or a hobie...and took some balance...but it worked
