I would describe myself as MGTOW. I've not had a problem with partner breakups, or divorce or have any children. I just prefer to live the Batchelor lifestyle. I have nice job, nice car, nice house. I enjoy the freedom to do what I want when I want without worrying about someone else in my life and what they want. Call it selfish if you like but it's a lifestyle choice. Another thing that may have had minimal impact on my choice is the fact many friends have even told me they envy my freedom. Some have had issues with partners, access to children and this also goes into my own family. So standing on the outside looking at what's going on with men around me I just don't want a female in my life. I've abstained from any female interaction for just over 10 years now. Of course I chat and interact with women everyday but not on a personal level. I'm happy in myself and my life. I've seen some of the MGTOW videos and it's obvious some of these men are just nasty, or hate women, or some have been on the receiving end of a miscarriage of justice and in some cases quite rightly feel bitter towards certain women in their lives. Not all but some are like that. There are however men like myself who are decent/average looking guys who would rather live their life free of strife, stress, and worry while enjoying all that they've worked hard towards. A I said I have no hangups about my past... my last relationship of 6 years ended amicably and we went our seperate ways. There was no animosity between us it just ran its course... it was since then that I decided I really couldn't be bothered going through all the dating and trying different people and personalities and games again, and I definately don't regret that decision. In fact I think there would be more decent, rational, calm, happy, and intelligent men if they did "Go Their Own Way".

I've found talking to a counselor is rarely helpful. Most are barely competent. All are primarily concerned with a diagnosis that they can use to bill insurance and max out your insurance allowed sessions. If you have insurance. When you don't, they won't even schedule you and tell you to go to the ER if you are in "crisis."
So true. As for me, they make their diagnosis in the first few minutes and the rest of the '"treatment" it's all about cherry picking to confirm this diagnosis.
Well it depends on who they are and what degree they have. PhDs on psychology are like that but licensed clinical social workers tend to focus on cognitive behavioral therapy in my experience. And psychiatrists are straight drug pushers.

Comes with so much trouble, lets you age a lot in short time, drains energy and especially in the early years they steal your sleep and I hear "If I knew what comes with a child, I wouldn't have done it. But I'm very happy. Love my child." It all feels unrational to me. It seems like they are trying to push away all the bad stuff and only try to see the good things yet they have to deal with all the trouble and right in those very moments they can't feel good or happy. Same goes for marriage. How is all this drama making people happy? Not rational. Also the divorce rates plain numbers are speaking a different language than subjective feelings about the personal situation. Ask married men if you should get married and demand an honest answer. LOL I am a Stoic, have been for most of my life and just didnt realize it, now Im 26 and ive been studying it for a few years and honestly I feel it's changed my life by 1. giving me a name to put to the way Ive always kind of seen the world and life but 2. giving me knew ways of looking at things now. It's not for everyone but I do believe everyone would be happier with a moderate level of it in their life but to each their own.

I would support this movement from the outside if in fact they did actually “go their own way.” But you would be surprised how many claim to believe these ideals, yet still pop up in women’s inboxes or have dating profiles. They hate women, are disrespectful, degrading and insulting but then seem to lack insight as to why they have failed relationships. But maybe these are just fringe, extreme cases and not what the the idea is truly meant to be. In the same vein as feminism is literally just the belief that women should have equal rights under the law, but you have radical fringes that turn it into an idea of women being better than men. Divorced, father of two. I went MGTOW as I filed for my divorce. I tried casual dating and hookups but was finding that women who are willing to hook up with a guy of my caliber (fat, father, divorced) tend to be at the bottom of the barrel and littered with red flags. The kind of red flags that make you run. maybe when I accomplish my goals with weight loss I will try again, but I am content with 'opting out' of any kind of sexual or romantic relationship for the time being. I discovered MGTOW when I was researching how to succeed in divorce court as a father. I really felt like an island until I seen there are a plethora of men who have similar experiences as mine. I jumped into marriage thinking it was the obvious next step in my life. I ignored red flags in the beginning and agreed to start a family just months after the wedding. The honeymoon phase wore off fast and my emotional and sexual needs were no longer being met. at all.. My entire life became 'how do I earn more money to make her happy' and 'what do i say/do to preserve her temporary happiness as long as possible?' We both came from rather broken homes with few skills to prepare us for adulthood and marriage. But we were plugged into a good church with sincere people helping us along the way. As the years went by, I earned more and more, and slowly accepted the fact that everything that was bad in our marriage was my fault. She had me trained to accept that she could do no harm to me and that expressing emotional needs was just a way to manipulate her. 7 years and two children into the marriage, she finally dropped the masks. She was experimenting with drugs, asking to sleep around, admitting she was attracted to children we knew, and at one point asked for my blessings for her sex change. When I told her I didn't want to be married to a man, she conveniently changed her mind. She cheated on me once and I forgave her. We sought marriage counseling and found a woman who shares our faith and took our insurance. A few months into it, the counselor agreed to see my wife one on one. I was relieved to finally see that what I was experiencing wasn't my fault. Another three or four months into that, and my wife once again cheated on me with the same guy (an old ex). She first told the therapist. Then she told me a few weeks later, also confessing that the therapist advised her NOT to tell me. The therapist told her it was in my best interest to not know about it, and that if I find out, I would go into a violent rage. Instead, I just wept. Not only did I feel betrayed by my wife, but I started to see the invisible sisterhood that all women have to protect each other from the consequences of their actions. My wife would go on to make many more terrible choices throughout the divorce, and I was awarded full custody of my children. She was in and out of relationships faster than I could change my socks. While living in a homeless shelter, a guy volunteering fell madly in love with her. They've been together for a couple years now, mostly because she accepts his lifestyle of dressing up as a woman and he accepts her mental health challenges. They've been waging war against me this whole time to get revenge for me winning custody. TL;DR I was a simp, got burned by crazy ex-wife, and she has an even bigger simp taking care of her while I am raising our kids.

There are a LOT MORE narcissistic women than what it said. Most of them are diagnosed as BPD. Even the psychopathic women, some of them also diagnosed as BPD. One can be 70% BPD but the 15 or 20 percent of having ASPD with narcissism is not talked about. One don't have to be 100% one way to ruin lives around them.

MGTOW is the result of a simple cost/benefit analysis. For a variety of reasons, these men have determined that their situation is better off without a life partner. I would describe myself as MGTOW. I've not had a problem with partner breakups, or divorce or have any children. I just prefer to live the Batchelor lifestyle. I have nice job, nice car, nice house. I enjoy the freedom to do what I want when I want without worrying about someone else in my life and what they want. Call it selfish if you like but it's a lifestyle choice. Another thing that may have had minimal impact on my choice is the fact many friends have even told me they envy my freedom. Some have had issues with partners, access to children and this also goes into my own family. So standing on the outside looking at what's going on with men around me I just don't want a female in my life. I've abstained from any female interaction for just over 10 years now. Of course I chat and interact with women everyday but not on a personal level. I'm happy in myself and my life. I've seen some of the MGTOW videos and it's obvious some of these men are just nasty, or hate women, or some have been on the receiving end of a miscarriage of justice and in some cases quite rightly feel bitter towards certain women in their lives. Not all but some are like that. There are however men like myself who are decent/average looking guys who would rather live their life free of strife, stress, and worry while enjoying all that they've worked hard towards. A I said I have no hangups about my past... my last relationship of 6 years ended amicably and we went our seperate ways. There was no animosity between us it just ran its course... it was since then that I decided I really couldn't be bothered going through all the dating and trying different people and personalities and games again, and I definately don't regret that decision. In fact I think there would be more decent, rational, calm, happy, and intelligent men if they did "Go Their Own Way".

I've found talking to a counselor is rarely helpful. Most are barely competent. All are primarily concerned with a diagnosis that they can use to bill insurance and max out your insurance allowed sessions. If you have insurance. When you don't, they won't even schedule you and tell you to go to the ER if you are in "crisis."

Comes with so much trouble, lets you age a lot in short time, drains energy and especially in the early years they steal your sleep and I hear "If I knew what comes with a child, I wouldn't have done it. But I'm very happy. Love my child." It all feels unrational to me. It seems like they are trying to push away all the bad stuff and only try to see the good things yet they have to deal with all the trouble and right in those very moments they can't feel good or happy. Same goes for marriage. How is all this drama making people happy? Not rational. Also the divorce rates plain numbers are speaking a different language than subjective feelings about the personal situation. Ask married men if you should get married and demand an honest answer. If this MGTOW thing is really just about men choosing to stay single, I have no problem with it. A lot of women also make that choice. It's similar to choosing to not have kids, or to not practice a religion. The world is a better place when people have the freedom to do these things at their own will, with no external pressure. However, from what I have seen on the internet, it does not appear that this is the full extent of what MGTAW means to the majority of men who describe themselves this way.

I would support this movement from the outside if in fact they did actually “go their own way.” But you would be surprised how many claim to believe these ideals, yet still pop up in women’s inboxes or have dating profiles. They hate women, are disrespectful, degrading and insulting but then seem to lack insight as to why they have failed relationships. But maybe these are just fringe, extreme cases and not what the the idea is truly meant to be. In the same vein as feminism is literally just the belief that women should have equal rights under the law, but you have radical fringes that turn it into an idea of women being better than men. Most “feminists” don’t feel this way, but then were not the ones yelling the loudest so aren’t as visible. There is absolutely nothing weird or wrong with a person deciding that the benefits of relationships aren’t worth the potential risks. Divorced, father of two. I went MGTOW as I filed for my divorce. I tried casual dating and hookups but was finding that women who are willing to hook up with a guy of my caliber (fat, father, divorced) tend to be at the bottom of the barrel and littered with red flags. The kind of red flags that make you run. maybe when I accomplish my goals with weight loss I will try again, but I am content with 'opting out' of any kind of sexual or romantic relationship for the time being.
I discovered MGTOW when I was researching how to succeed in divorce court as a father. I really felt like an island until I seen there are a plethora of men who have similar experiences as mine. I jumped into marriage thinking it was the obvious next step in my life. I ignored red flags in the beginning and agreed to start a family just months after the wedding. The honeymoon phase wore off fast and my emotional and sexual needs were no longer being met. at all.. My entire life became 'how do I earn more money to make her happy' and 'what do i say/do to preserve her temporary happiness as long as possible?'
We both came from rather broken homes with few skills to prepare us for adulthood and marriage. But we were plugged into a good church with sincere people helping us along the way. As the years went by, I earned more and more, and slowly accepted the fact that everything that was bad in our marriage was my fault. She had me trained to accept that she could do no harm to me and that expressing emotional needs was just a way to manipulate her.
7 years and two children into the marriage, she finally dropped the masks. She was experimenting with drugs, asking to sleep around, admitting she was attracted to children we knew, and at one point asked for my blessings for her sex change. When I told her I didn't want to be married to a man, she conveniently changed her mind. She cheated on me once and I forgave her. We sought marriage counseling and found a woman who shares our faith and took our insurance. A few months into it, the counselor agreed to see my wife one on one. I was relieved to finally see that what I was experiencing wasn't my fault. Another three or four months into that, and my wife once again cheated on me with the same guy (an old ex). She first told the therapist. Then she told me a few weeks later, also confessing that the therapist advised her NOT to tell me. The therapist told her it was in my best interest to not know about it, and that if I find out, I would go into a violent rage. Instead, I just wept. Not only did I feel betrayed by my wife, but I started to see the invisible sisterhood that all women have to protect each other from the consequences of their actions.
My wife would go on to make many more terrible choices throughout the divorce, and I was awarded full custody of my children. She was in and out of relationships faster than I could change my socks. While living in a homeless shelter, a guy volunteering fell madly in love with her. They've been together for a couple years now, mostly because she accepts his lifestyle of dressing up as a woman and he accepts her mental health challenges. They've been waging war against me this whole time to get revenge for me winning custody.
TL;DR I was a simp, got burned by crazy ex-wife, and she has an even bigger simp taking care of her while I am raising our kids.

My dad became a MGTOW monk long before MGTOW (or the web) existed, so don't blame any organization. He remained so for 35 years till his dying day and I have been the same for four years. There was a time I hated women (due to two unfaithful marriages), I have moved beyond that but I still don't even want to date anyone, much less get serious. This isn't a mental issue, this is freedom to do as I wish in my own home without getting nagged. How come nobody talks about modern feminists having "mental issues"? @calliope6623 - Some of the very things he says imply a conspiracy. By calling it a "movement," he implies some sort of conspiracy. Somehow, some of cult like organization has popped up and made millions of men somehow decide, apparently against their wishes to stop getting married or cohabit with women.
Meanwhile, things that actually ARE movements and conspiracies (me2 anyone) get ignored.
Other than the name and the set of philosophical concepts, there is nothing new in mgtow.

A lot of MGTOW is also about men who have been abused and hurt by women who suffer from A lot of the cluster B personally disorders. Mainly narcissistic personality disorder that have been found out to have changed from the 90% of the men to the 5% of women b.s.
There are a LOT MORE narcissistic women than what it said. Most of them are diagnosed as BPD. Even the psychopathic women, some of them also diagnosed as BPD. That's why so many people have so much hate on the BPDs , because they can be comorbid with narcissism and ASPD. And most of the time, personality disorders ARE comorbid with each other. One can be 70% BPD but the 15 or 20 percent of having ASPD with narcissism is not talked about. One don't have to be 100% one way to ruin lives around them.
Much of the withdrawal and aversion to the opposite sex are bad experiences with Type II personalities and people with very poor character.

@@RN-gx7wt when one is betrayed or taken advantage of by a callous, greedy or selfish person, one has to take stock and consider what flags one overlooked that left you vulnerable to an unscrupulous person. Signing off on a whole gender is silly. Personal responsibility is key. There are always warning signs. Remember the saying "All is fair in live and war." It means that the manuverings of both can be brutal and the stakes equally high. You have to have a strategy, you have know yourself and you have to be flexible enough to change tactics. Blaming the world or an entire gender doesn't move a combatant closer to victory be love or war. Then again, there have conscientious objectors....

We are all mostly blind to our own frailties, bias, presumptions and deep seated needs. It seems we are all a work in progress all our life.
