  • In this video, I do a long term review on the Geshelli Labs JNOG2 [J2] external DAC, my new favorite for under $300.

    I bought one of these used a couple months ago, also with the ES 9026PRO. I have only compared it to the internal DACs in my 30 year-old CD player and my new BT receiver, but the J2 easily blows both of those away. It is extremely airy and 3D and has a shimmer on the top end that reveals details I’ve not heard before.
    Nice to see a review of this DAC in a main system, which is how I use mine. Most of the reviews I’ve seen are with headphone setups.

    Is that an e30 on its side?
    I have one and it was a replacement for a DAC IT x that died which was a replacement for my ancient Audio Alchemy stuff. I’m seriously considering the Socketted version with the 4499 and Sparkos.

    I side-by-sided this DAC with an ancient MSB Link Dac III and to my ears the MSB was clearly superior on my system. Plus knowing where the Giselli is set (input setting) and how you set it, needs to be re-engineered.

    Is the Sparkos SS3602 opamp upgrade worth it?

    one thing you didn't mention is gain settings. If you hold the right button it switches between 3 different gain settings. I managed to switch gain settings and was getting low output in my 2 ch stereo system and thought something was wrong with my dac.

      @nadiraudio  Рік тому

      Good point. The default gain setting works well for me, but it would be easy to accidentally change it and not realize it had changed.

    Hi! Sorry for the silly question. I listen to music and movies via my laptop. I sometimes use Fxall as an equalizer in my laptop. This is routes to a basic DAC then a NAD or a Marantz 1601 depending on my mood ;) and a good pair of speakers. Would this dac make a difference for my type of setup which is not really/pure audiophile? Thank you!

    Thanks.
    Maybe this is not the G2S that has the option for the Sparkos op amps ?
    Do you know if you can roll op amps ?

    Question: What is the "Use Case" for UBS connection ?

    • @nadiraudio
      @nadiraudio  Рік тому

      The primary use case would be to connect a laptop or desktop computer, although there are other types of devices with USB outputs.

      Yes, but you'll also need a headphone amplifier like the Geshelli Archel.

    Passing through the tv, aren’t you limited to 48kHz?

    • @nadiraudio

      Yes, everything passing through the TV is limited to 48 kHz, but most of my digital music collection is Red Book 44.1 kHz.

      I thought it only made a difference with the 4497 or 4499 series vs the 9038pro. I would have expected the 9028Q2M and 9026pro to be at least equal to the 4493.

    I tried to love it. Sounded detailed and engaging until it was annoying and irritating. I couldn’t listen to it for any longer than 15 minutes without getting a headache and fatigue. Oh well, not a good fit with my system but I am sure it is fine for most.

      what is your setup? do you use this dac on USB input?

    • @naqqashsharif5561
      @naqqashsharif5561 7 місяців тому +2

      Audiolab CD transport to Yammy as-701 via audioquest coaxial. I speccd the DAC with sparkos opamps and akm base chip. Carina bookshelves with SVS sub. Sounded detailed and wider than anything else in the $300 price range. But I couldn’t listen for more than 15 mins. Just too much information, and less musicality. Ears and head plain hurt. Odd as it sounds.
