The problem is people keep comparing switch to ps5, why can't we be happy that Devs can port new games to switch?
Agree. It's really annoying. I get that the Switch was released in 2017 and is now considered "old" for gamers who are on top of every release, but I've only had my Switch for about a couple years now. To compare it to the PS5, which came out in 2020, is odd. It's not like when the Switch 2 comes out that I'm just going to drop everything and buy it. My Switch is brand spankin' new, and it does the job. It's the same people who MUST have the latest and greatest iPhone. It's crazy.
To me. I view the Switch is better than having a PS4 or PS5. For simply being portable. I don't view mobile as a games platform and NEVER WILL. Not the same audience nor crowd therefore should be excluded.
Considering the Tech inside of the Switch. This game is what the Switch can when you squeeze each single ounce of blood from the stone and achieve it.
@@MaoRattoagreed. Its a console that you can play 5 hours non-stop on the go, that is a big win for me because I’m constantly outside and not at home. The switch made gaming so much of a better experience when travelling that it just became my most used console, second which is my PS5.
The load times for Hogwarts Legacy isn’t a dealbreaker for me, I’ve played open world games in the 90s which have the exact same loading mechanisms and it is still as enjoyable. It being on the switch is already a big win (taking into consideration the switch takes way less wattage in power compared to plug in consoles, and the whole thing fits in your hand.)
@@benedictypx The PS5 Doesn't exist. The Switch exists, ps4 is practically late-life like PS3 all over again. When it comes to platforms it is a decision of either playing on my PC or Switch.
It's the "mine is better than yours".
The biggest slap in the face to switch owners is the realization of how little effort Pokémon puts into their games compared to this release. I truly believed this was going to never be released on the switch and I’m just excited to have this game on the go and brings new life to my outdated device. Great video
When it comes to Pokemon, I'm convinced they do that on purpose. I think they make bleh graphics cuz they're selling point used to be "the next one looks nicer" Sword and Shield looks bleh, Scarlet and Violet actually looks better but runs like poo! I bet you next gen will look slightly better, run more smoothly, but still not be as nice as were expecting. And they'll keep doing that forever
But this dis not proved it. We already knew and the ones that did not are just living in denial. I mean just look a witcher 3, doom and doom eternal. All came out before the shit show that pokemon scarlet and violet was. This is just the next game that proves it.
Outdated is subjective in definition, sure the hardware is outdated but the hardware is still relevant as it’s still Nintendo’s flagship system.
The only Pokémon game I loved was arceus… hands down

I waited for a bigger sale on black firday.. It's only 45 instead of 60 now. Well.
I would not count too much on patches main consoles and pc had two very minor ones and that’s it since launch. Didn’t fox any of the performance issues or anything.
I doubt it will get many patches if any at all. That said, third party games go on sale very often on Switch even shortly after release. I myself couldn't wait though.
It's a miracle for switch players.
If you're not playing on stronger devices then it's likely this will look so good for you. Your eyes are already used to the limitations of switch.
They put a lot of love into making this work on the Switch. It shows how much they really tried there best on a Old 2012 Tegra 1.

The moment I saw the game I thought it looked just like the older Harry Potter games I’d play on the Wii/ps3… kinda made it a little more acceptable to me, makes it feel like I’m playing a game that I used to love

Yeah it doesn’t look as good as most of the other consoles but also when you think about it you have to give it to the developers for trying to port a next gen game to a 6 year old piece of hardware that’s like making this for a ps5 but porting it to the ps3 but some of those scenes where amazing

Don't forget the soc of the switch was already 3 years old when it came out. So we're talking 8-9 year old Android tablet hardware.
i've really waited for this game to come to switch as i don't have the other platforms that can play it better. i'm just glad it works/runs good, i really hope to enjoy this game, i just got my copy and will be playing later tonight.

@@eilzmo i'm enjoying the game so far. The look of the game on this version might need some getting used to though... i also experience fps drops sometimes... loading screens might be an issue to some too.
If the Switch has proved anything is that there are a lot of people who will respect good performance over amazing life like graphics. Which is good, we kinda are spoiled and a lot of gamers are pushing technology to much for those who don't have to live a life of realism, but rather escapism. Bravo to the devs.

as someone who hasnt played hogwarts legacy on any platform, i dont think ill be bothered much by these issues, looks like a ps3 game to me, considering i play games like lunacid, this look doesnt bother me, especially as its not as bad as mortal kombat 1 on switch was at launch.
It’s amazing on my switch. I don’t care what anyone else says. I pre-ordered it in March and have already had a 6 hour truly magical experience so far! Edit: I’m lvl 21 now and think it’s the best game I’ve ever played!
I think it does look good. We have to stop comparing the switch to newer generation consoles.
Finally a comment I can agree with. I'm so fed up with all the videos comparing the switch version to the ps5. It's beyond stupid.
Nintendo should then stop milking old trash & give new gen console 😂
@@neddiego2570As long as the old trash is still making them good money, why invest in new hardware? In fact, all companies should try to extract as much from a generation as possible. The playstation 5 could have waited two more years before releasing. The fact that a lot of players are still sticking to their playstaion 4 proves it.
Hogwarts should be getting huge props right now tbh. I'm shooketh that it was even ported over to Switch. Granted, I might get it for my PS4 Pro, but idk... I might just get it for Switch for the portability. Not sure yet. Haven't bought the game yet on either platform. But regardless, it's SHOCKING that they were able to get this on the Switch and I think most of the AAA ports are extremely commendable. The people who make these should be seriously revered in the gaming industry because, I mean, that CAN'T be an easy feat to accomplish. Kinda like how Grove Street Games stumbled with porting GTA Trilogy HD to Switch and patched it up to a nice state... then they came back around to prove themselves and completely revamped the Ark Survival game (with all DLC and features of the other console editions) which now looks like a presentable version of the video game that runs at 30FPS and doesn't look like an oil painting with terrible pop-in anymore. Not to mention, all the amazing ports done like Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dying Light, Mud Runner, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 HD, Witcher 3, Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Fortnite, Warframe, and so many other next-gen (at the time) video games that play nicely (non-cloud gaming) on "Grandma's toaster" LOL.
I hope this game sells like hotcakes once people realize it's been released. I think it's up to people like you to spread the word about it! This video will forsure help, I believe. Nice review as always! :)
It’s legitimately better that I expected when I picked it up and played it last night, so much so that I sold my ps4 copy because even with the downgrades it genuinely holds its own and I don’t see myself needing to play the ps4 version when I can just lay back with my switch and play basically the same thing and feel just as much satisfaction with it :)
I've been playing it on my Switch today, and sure the graphics aren't great, and loading times are annoying, long, and frequent; but if Switch is your only console and you're a Harry Potter fan, it's pretty good so far. Side note: yet another game showcasing the embarrassment that is Pokemon S/V.

Thank you for this review!! I had pre-ordered when I first heard it was coming out on Switch because I don't have the other systems and to be honest, I don't want them. I'm an older person with 2 jobs (full time and gig work and my weekends are pretty busy with other stuff). I started hearing "There's no way...", "It's delayed because it's crap.", "It's going to be a pixelated mess!" but I kept my pre-order and just picked it up today along with a brand new memory card. Now, I can't wait to play this weekend. :) Thank you!
Considering that this is an ARM SOC and a really old one at that. I'd actually say the game looks amazing.
So actually when I started playing I turned up the in-game brightness a bit (maybe to like 75%?) and I feel like that made a big difference in the graphics and made it look a bit better honestly. Can't say for sure, maybe it's just that my eyes like being able to see things without needing to constantly adjust between dark and light, maybe some other people want to try it and share their opinions.

wonder if the experience could be better for some of these games though if the cart storage space were increased, considering we have 1 tb micro sd cards now, are they really not able to produce something that can hold games like Hogwarts Legacy in Their entirety without dropping files for space? game on pc is 85 gb.
Lol increasing file size do not make the game looks better, the file is made smaller becos they hav to use lower resolution texture packs etc so the switch could run cos switch is under power, u dont increase the quality by forcing it to run bigger files cos in contrary that will end up suffocating the processor and framerates will drop drastically. 😂
Okay so I have a PS4 slim and I also have a switch. As much as I think the PS4 would be the better option. I love the portability that the Nintendo switch brings to the table and would love to get it on there so what advice would you have for me?
I saw a performance review video showing some connection between area changed from just seamless walking to loading screen in Switch version.

I have ps4 and switch, I bought it for my ps4 and honestly it still has issues items glitches into the scenery at some points my controller buttons wouldn't respond but it still worked on the home screen fine so had to close and reload the game, as iv got further its started having loading issues between doors and npc glitches. Might aswell get the version you want as still issues on the ps4. It is still an awesome game and 1000% recommend. I will probably buy it on switch early next year for the portability. Get the version you want to play on its really not gona be a huge difference to your experience. I think it does still look great on switch and as others said it kinda look like a ps3 game. It's looks just like the assassin's creed games ported to switch.
You didn't mention that it's technically not open world because there's loading zones and every shop you go into has to load. Also there's background items that were completely removed so the environments can look very different.
Seamless and open are not the same thing. Skyrim is open, it has loadzones. It is open because the player is in control of the direction and exploration of the world. Breath of the Wild is open, but again has load zones. Some games manage seamless transitioning, but that’s not what makes them open.
I am playing on Lite somehow the textures look better on the smaller screen. I belief that having this game run on Switch is the most powerful magic in all Hogwarts. I had the choice between Steamdeck or Switch Lite and I chose the Lite over the Deck.
Biggest difference aside from graphics is the added loading times. It’s no longer open world on switch.

@@aaron6493 loading into new areas outside of the castle I can kinda understand. But in the switch version, when you’re in a town there’s a 30 second load screen whenever you enter any building which doesn’t happen at all in any other version. You can just walk in and start looking around. I feel that really kills the pacing.
@@JadesOfGrey ok I still have to experience that, I am still at the beginning, finished the prologue and I arrived at Hogwarts.
Regarding the textures I have Valkyrie Elysium and Baldur's Gate 3 on Steamdeck and even though the Deck is a powerful machine the textures are equivalent to Hogwarts on the Switch Lite. Valkyrie is not good looking on the Deck, I did expect more. While Monochrome Mobius and Witchspring R both look amazing on the Deck. Star Ocean 2 R also looks amazing on the Switch Lite and Fate Samurai Remnant is another pretty game on Switch Lite with excellent performance. I have a libary of over 100 games on the Switch Lite and the Deck so I have enough experience to talk about game performance and looks.
I wish I could say I was enjoying this game very very much but I'm not because I pre-ordered it on Amazon and now it's saying is temporarily out of stock I don't know how they messed up. I am going to give Amazon until December 18th to send me my game or I will cancel my "pre order" and then just get it on the switch
I for one don’t really care about flat textures or less expressive facial animations etc when considering buying this for switch. I don’t expect the switch to run this like my ps5 or series x but the fact that I can play it anywhere handheld sells it for me as it will for most switch owners just my 2 cents
I am getting this for my 10 year old son because he loves his switch. He would be engulfed in the magic and scope of the game rather than constantly paying attention to graphics and ray tracing etc. It's nice to see him enjoy just the fun and magic of the game itself. Reminds me of my old (S)NES days.

I got my copy this am. I think its great. I love that I can now bring it with me where ever I go. I do prefer it on PS5 but ilI can’t through the PS5 in my pocket and bring it with me. For what its worth for the game awards ut absolutly should have been nominated its in my opinion and my personal #1 for the year.

For a better portable graphical experience on this game buy a deck, rog ally etc, limit the main proccesor to 80% , use fsr and 30 fps and now you have a mini version of the ps5 version that can last 2 hours on battery and i will say is awesome at least in my experience :v
But if you don't have the money for a more powerful handheld, man a switch lite is now capable of running this game and is just mind blowing xdd
Idgaf about the Steam Deck I have a Switch and I’m only interested in the Switch version as that’s all I have, I’m not interested in getting another system just to play a prettier version of Hogwarts Legacy. My Switch OLED is enough for me.

I could get Hogwarts legacy for my ps5 console instead of my switch oled. I'm looking forward to playing the Super Mario RPG remake launching this Friday and Dragon quest Monster the Dark Prince launching December 1st for my switch oled console. So I'm good 👍.

As a Pokemon fan I wish we could have gotten something a bit better than Scarlet and Violet, seeing what should be possible on the system 😢💔
I had similar issues with lego Star Wars but hearing this is pretty awesome. I just had to play this on the PS5 so I have no plans on replaying it with less quality.
after i stopped playing on PC for like a month since i got starfield, i really couldn't tell the difference between PC and switch if anything the only thing i noticed was a bit of lag but other than that i didn't notice until a side by side video
Awesome review on it! I got it on PC & decided to grab it on the switch and after a while you tend to forget and cut it some slack because it's way more convenient to play whenever I want and It's overall kinda crazy they got this game to play so well. The load times seem to drag a bit but even then it's not a deal breaker. I'd recommend it and I'm glad I bought it.

For most Switch users who doesn't have any consoles, this is an amazing work and an early Christmas gift!
This is an excellent port. But I would say that there is a little to much aliasing. If they can fix this in a patch then this would be perfect.
They can't fix that. It's the Nintendo switch. This game is fantastic for the switching
I just can’t.. I REALLY wish it weren’t the case, but I’m a huge graphics/performance freak and I don’t compromise. Because of it, I’ve missed out on some really well received titles like Celest, Dead Cells, Minecraft, Lego games etc.
Idk why but I just can’t do it. I’d love to play it mobile, but I’ll most likely end up getting it for my PC or buying a Legion to play it on.

Dude I play pixel art and 32 bit games on my switch, I don’t care much about graphics. I bought it for PC but never ended up playing more than 7 hours of it because I prefer to play handheld in bed after a long day. I haven’t bought it for switch just yet but I absolutely amZ
Panic button talked a lot about switch porting when they made Doom and Doom Eternal. The reason some elements look worse than others, while some still look almost as good as the other ports is because of selective culling. They made choices based on the players focus what elements could be downgraded to save processing, and which the player was expected to be impressed by. Random walls and pillars? Unimportant, drop their texture resolution. The giant magical chandelier the characters are gawking at? It’s a priority, make sure it looks good. I’m sure this seems obvious to some, but yeah, that’s why parts of the game look far worse than others. The devs had to decide what elements were important enough.
Frankly, given how many people were saying there’s no way this version could possibly work, I’m actually hugely impressed. I have yet to play this game, and yet, despite having a computer that could play it, I’m seriously considering getting the switch version instead for portability.
I’m happily surprised with how good this port is.
I got this on switch bc I travel a lot and like to take my games with me to play in my spare time. i haven't got to play it yet on the switch..i love it on the ps4. I know I'll love it on the switch too, even if it does have flaws.
People forget its a handheld , all other handheld gaming consoles wont last 1:30 on battery at best. Lower graphics are needed to sustain the battery
This video finally answered my question. For a while now I've been asking whether a teenager of the family would be able to enjoy this game should I buy it for them along with Switch.
Most of the replies I've been getting instead are replies to a question: "What device is best to play this game?"
The harsh truth is I'm not going to buy an expensive device for possibly just one game.
This is my first game on switch. I haven’t played video games in years, but I got it for my godson and I was surprised how awesome it was so I bought a used switch lite since I know I have a short attention span and got a copy for myself. It’s awesome! I think I’ll finish it which is wild because I haven’t played a game all the way through since dying light 1 on Xbox One 😂
It's not a bad port, but if you have any other way to play then i would take that over the novelty of it being portable unless the Switch is your only option. The loading times alone is a no go, there are so many new loading screens that it feels less open than every other version.
i think it looks maybe blurry and sometimes low resolution picture is looking awful but... (there always must be some butt :D ) i like it :) it looks nice , it works nice and i want RDR 2 and GTA5 and other cross platrofm games maked the same way as hogwarts on switch :) maybe it looks sometimes like shit but its portable so... I WANT MORE !!! :P
BTW. There allways was a gap between sony , microsoft and nintendo games in graphic : N64 - blurry cause cart capacity , Gamecube - blurry cause disc capacity ,WII was a little bit better GC but when we compare do x360 or ps3 - looks like from previous generation... so ... nintendo always was the same issue with their consoles i think :) maybe thats why I didnt expect super ps5 quality but something whats will be not compared even to ps4 version , something like low quality settings on ps4 (if that kind of pc settings could exist on ps4 ) . cya!!

To be honest, I got the ps5 just to play this game.... and there were moments when it looked bad, and it had rooms or doors that needed to load up the areas... on a brand new ps5.

I always find it hard to understand why people want to compare switch games with ps5/xbox series x visuals and all. The switch does a great job at what it does most of the ports are great and the sacrifices in visuals and all is worth it. It doesn’t make any sense making comparisons between the switch and next gen consoles and expecting the visual to be on the same level.
Exactly and channels like this one only add to the problem, I don’t have a PS5 or Xbox series X and have no interest in getting any of these systems as my Switch OLED is enough for me, until Nintendo announces the Switch 2.

I was going to get this regardless of it downgrade for obvious reasons but not until i found out that it's not as open world as in the other versions and that's when i drew the line. Now i'll either wait for the definitive edition on Swich 2 or just get it for the steam deck oled when i eventually get one....Imo they should have just skipped the switch and waited for the next-gen Switch instead. Not sure how this will sell on the Switch but i doubt it will sell as well as the other versions even with the 132 million Switchers out there so they should waited for a more powerful Switch instead....Later
Just to clarify. It's fine to release it on the Switch as is not saying they shouldn't..I'm just saying they should've waited for an improved next-gen Switch. For me the Nintendo switch is more capable than what people think, because we know that they decrease the power for battery consumption, it would be really great if we could make the tegra X1 run at it's highest performance.

in a love hate relaship i can get over the crappy grathicks the picys but the 2 minits lodinging to get in out of the shops is killing me i cumpleted it all 4 modes on the xboxs so as a huge HP fan i going to keep with it.

The work thy put into the scenes is super impressive but the problem i have is that im watching the game more than playng it... also so much of the actual gameplay is spamming the trigger..

Idk, but I just couldnt get past of how cartoony the graphics is on switch so I just resorted on getting a steam deck to play on the go.
is good port compare to pokemon, sad that Scarlet and Violet performance and visual is really bad :(

Nintendo doesn’t have no choice to give us a more powerful Nintendo Switch because they will lose more third party support if they keep waiting to long
Nintendo doesn’t need the 3rd party support, their 1st party games are enough and has served them well and it’s because of their own games is why the Switch is so popular so the Switch being successful had very little to do with 3rd party support.
But is is worth $89.99 CAD plus tax? Hopefully it goes on sale but, from what I heard the actual story is lame after an hour. I’ll wait for a sale.

Nintendo keeps making it clear they intend to keep the Switch running for the unforseeable future, so the question for me is this.
By the time the next generation nintendo system finally gets announced, will it already be behind the consoles it is running against?

I don’t care about the other consoles, as long as it’s powerful enough and fixes the flaws of the current Switch then I’m not interested in comparisons with the other systems, Nintendo will do what it does best and deliver stellar and innovative gameplay experiences, that’s what I care about.

I mean, the steam deck version does look and run better, and it will look even better on the steam deck oled. It's just a fact because the steam deck is significantly more powerful

More people own a switch and a switch lite is so much cheaper. But it is time for a switch 2. I think Nintendo is waiting cause of the economic slump currently happening

This video is a bit misleading. You keep saying open world. The added load times which don’t make it an open world anymore kill it for me. Bigger issue than graphics. And it’s not just loading between like the castle and other areas. There’s literally 30 second load screens when entering individual buildings in towns now.
I don't know why we have to be at a point with gaming where we need to settle for "it's better than I expected" when we're paying $60-80 for a game.

The Switch is a remarkable console, the developers should be commended for this port, for me I’m not impressed that much with the graphics on Hogwarts Legacy on Switch, it looks kinda ugly but the performance is more than decent, the developers of the Switch port of MK1 should take note and I’m sick of UA-camrs complaining about Nintendo not releasing the Switch 2 yet, enjoy the current Switch and STOP mentioning Switch 2, the Switch is only system, which I haven’t had for very long, yes there’s better versions of Hogwarts Legacy, but I’m not interested and have no interest of getting another system just to play a better version, your comment about you being sick of being surprised by the Switch, reeks of elitism, I will never get sick of being surprised by this little fighter of a handheld, even if I had my Switch as long as you i still wouldn’t be bored of being surprised. I want the Switch to dethrone the PS2 and be the best selling console of all time, damn it.
I don't really care much about the details of the graphics as long as it runs smoothly. Come on we're millenials! We grew up with classic mario. 😂 the important thing for me is that if they made this possible, then we can get more of such games on switch.

We need a system that can run games without needing to be downgraded like this.
Then by a play station. Nintendo has found their area in gaming and that means portable systems.
It's not like portable systems can't be better than the current switch.
@@ShadowR251 yeah, but even then you still need to downgrade the games. Remember no portable system is going to be able to do no where near 1080 60fps let alone 4k 60fps at a affordable price point. At best we get another oled swtich with a 800p/900p screen with better hardware. And downgrades are going the be massive heck to run re2 on my steamdeck I need to make the game look so blury that my eyes start to hurt after 15 min of play. Also at times it feels that it might catch fire by how hot that thing runs and how bad the battery life for it is. Heck at the state of the steam deck is, it should have stay to cook for atleast 2 more year before even considering releasing it. I'll say this, if nintendo releases a new switch don't expect much, at best we get a system around the power of the steamdeck, and at worst weaker than the steam deck by a significant margin.
Get a PlayStation then, as a Switcher I don’t care about the other systems or compatsio with other versions, Nintendo has found their success with Switch snd it is a portable system that’s not meant to compete with PlayStation and Xbox, Nintendo will announce the Switch 2 when they’re ready so in the meantime I’m enjoying my Switch OLED and I’m sick of hearing rumours about the Switch 2 which are mostly false ad Nintendo has stated already.
The switch is almost 7 years old at this point, using a chip set that's even older. Games made to be played on the switch aren't even doing as good as they should. Take pokemon SV for example.
If you guys are happy with the current switch then do nothing 👍 stay happy. But there is nothing wrong with wishing for a better / more powerful system that can run games better without needing to dial them down this much just to be able to play them.
I also didn't say anything about a switch 2. Just that I hope nintendo makes a better system than what we currently have, which allows us to play more games and not have to neuter the games in order for them to run.
