I'm sure I paid for at least one or two real arcade cabinets in quarters as a kid. I would go to the arcade probably once every week and a half and I'd typically always spend $10 since you got 50 tokens as a bonus when you put $10 in lol. That went on for years. Thank you for watching!
As long as Motaro doesn't use his ranged attack, spamming low punch breaks all of his moves. It even animation-cancels his trips too. With a little bit of luck he's just a punching bag.
So that's the trick eh?
@@AR7271 it's not the total cure but it's very handy. Motaro can't move forward & attack at the same time, with the low punch canceling his sweep the only moves he has left is his ranged attack or to jump/walk into your punches. Fastest way to beat him will always be a lucky charge & smash, but when he decides to trip you the entire fight you can just LP him into oblivion.

Had to spam with smoke first to get to Motaro.(jump back, teleport, spear, roundhouse, repeat). At Motaro your technique took a while(you did say it may happen), but it worked. I was actually really surprised how well it worked against Shao Kahn. Only 3 tries! First time beating UMK3. Thanks! Scorpion was never my go to character, but he is now. Gonna try to beat it now with just him.

I do the same but do a jump kick then air throw after smoke teleport. Motaro I just jump over and do the little 3 punch combo. Khan I transformed in human smoke and you can lock him into a spear loop after an upper cut or spear. Motaro is the hardest for me.
Maybe someone has explained this but you can also beat montaro by using any fighter and by jumping in place and predicting and timing when montaro will jump into you you do a standing in place jump kick as he lunges towards you and do a kick combo to him. By doing this repeatedly you can beat him surprisingly fast. If that makes sense. It's better to show this. I think cyrax is best or any character with a good kick combo will do. You may have to move around a bit and find that moment to hit. And to beat shao Khan you go to far end left or right and duck. Stay there ducking. Don't move. As you duck you upper cut him when he does a flying shoulder hit up ward as he falls downward to you and Sliding shoulder hit toward you. When he does a sliding shoulder toward you let him hit you because there's no way to avoid it and then fast as you can upper cut him. All while ducking in the far left end or right of level. I've beaten my arcade 1up doing this. As for mk2...well that's another story. Mk2 is hard lol
Back in my childhood, when i played UMK3 on Mega Drive, i used Sub-Zero or Noob Saibot to beat Motaro and Shao Kahn. And the strategy was very basic and easy. For Motaro, jump on him with jump punch, and when you hit him, simply press high punch again to start hand combo, which leads to a full Sub-Zero's combo and so on. With Shao Kahn simply freeze and uppercut him until you win. The same with Noob Saibot, only instead you use stun cloud on Shao Kahn, to disable his attacks on you and then beat him until stun cloud stops working and use it again on Kahn, and so on until you beat him. But these days i learned how to beat Motaro and Shao Kahn with some other characters but in arcade version. Like Kabal for example or Cyber Smoke or Sektor. And the strategy is basically the same. You beat Motaro with combos and Shao Kahn with special moves + combos.
By the way, Smokes combos is basically a Sektor's combos. It's like: High Punch, High Punch, High Kick and High Punch, High Punch, Low Punch. It's the basic combos that i learned by myself. And if we talking about secret Human Smoke, then he is basically a Scorpion only in grey colors.

Easiest way to beat Shao Kahn is with Sub-Zero, the freeze and uppercut combo.
You know I found the funniest way to beat montoro which is just high punching because he just walks into it. It is so funny

Just high punching - That was the first time I beat montoro before I switched to jump kicking

I loved this one at the arcades, and the regular one too... I finished it with Cyrax my main back in the day, with shang Tsung , scorpion, and sub-zero (The only mortal kombat I could beat at the arcades, may be is for that reason that I actually love it jajajajaja)

Motaro is easy. It's Shao Khan that has his panties in a bunch. On arcade, I used to upper cut, run, upper cut, run, upper cut. Doesn't work so well on this version that I got on my PlayStation, though. You made it look easy with Scorpion lol

Dude there's an easier way with Kahn...
With either Scorpion, Robo or Human Smoke - throw your spear (Back, back, Low punch) then hold down and wait two seconds then uppercut (Down + High Punch) then immidiately throw your spear again and it will connect as Kahn is getting up and repeat until Kahn is dead.
The trick is the timing, to hold down and wait two seconds as as he's stunned after dragging him to you with your spear.
So much simplier than throwing a combo at him.

Those are cool strats. I'll have to try with Motaro. Against Kahn, i just pick smoke/human smoke/scorp and duck immediately and hope he does his upper shoulder move, then uppercut. While he is knocked down, just run up and spam LP while he gets up. He will be blocking, but just buffer in your Back Back inputs while doing the LP spam. Do your spear in the middle of your spam and that slight delay for spear animation lets the AI try and counter and he will always eat the spear. Uppercut, and repeat the process. The only time you get in trouble is if the AI is stubborn and just keeps ground shoulder ramming in the beginning lol. Just knock him down once though and it's basically over.

Not gonna lie, i usually just spam the high kick combo against Motaro or spam the HP HP LK HK LP with Smoke.. Khan was always the problem. Nice vid

Shao Khan is defenseless towards crouching projectiles.
You can easily beat him with Noob Saibot or Sub Zero.
Just throw a projectile at him as soon as the match starts, then a combo or an uppercut. Repeat until you win.
If you time it right he won't even have a chance to react. Easy flawless victory

With scorpion human smoke or smoke when you hit him with there spear uppercut run punch if he gets hit spear if not keep punching an then spear I got a flawless on him easily
Are you playing this on an arcade 1up cabinet? Also, you said it's a modded unit, wut mods did u do to it?
The only thing about this cabinet that's still 1Up is the cabinet itself and the monitor. I put a new sound system inside. Theres a PC inside and I've changed the controls to Happ.
Smoke. Jump towards, kick, teleport uppercut, harpoon, uppercut. Repeat
I do that during normal gameplay, does it work against bosses?

How with kabal
Motaro was much tougher than Kahn. And Kintaro was the toughest on MK2 too.
I used kitana on super Nintendo. Levitate him. That air punch and rush in for combo. Always be ready by tapping back and be ready for his teleport.
Kahn...noob saibot. No block ball combo is 4LK. Teleslam then ball. Noob is really best.
However noob isn't on arcade. And sheeva is. With Kahn you can use projectiles
Maybe sub would work. But besides noob, smoke is really fast and easy.
I feel like Motaro is especially cheap on the DS port of the game, since I can't get anything to work on him (maybe his AI is different?)
I use sindel against motaro & Shao Kahn

I get destroyed by this game's AI but once you find the holes, you can beat it.

Vs Motaro once you back him into a corner you can literally walk up to him and do a combo...walk up again and combo...rinse and repeat. Great video Chris!
