    Great lesson explained in an easy to understand way, good on you Stephanie, can't understand the thumbs down, those silly people just don't get the power of the pentatonic scale and you'll never educate the uneducatable lol.

    Are not the Minor Pentatonic notes 1,3,4,5,7 so if in key of C Major, the pentatonic notes would be A C D E G?
    It doesn’t look like your pattern bc you start w 3 white keys in a row but this pattern has 1 white key then a space then 3 white keys then another space then 1 white key.

    You're playing A G then A Gb in your left hand. Is there some music theory behind choosing those chords?

    • @kyleleesousa
      @kyleleesousa 8 років тому +1

      the chords implied by the right hand are Am (A G) D (A F#)
      she is calling her scale C major pentatonic C D E G A
      it can also be called A minor pentatonic A C D E G
      it makes more sense to call it A minor pentatonic in the context it is used at the end of the video. same notes but different emphasis

    • @PaulBanas
      @PaulBanas 6 років тому

      thanks! kyleleesousa It's so hard to see, even in slow-mo mode. I'm always confused whether you have to play C major here with the pentatonic scale or pattern or which chords it will work with. Am (relative minor of C) makes sense but where does the D come from? Thanks!

    • @mfreeman313
      @mfreeman313 6 років тому

      It's a II-V progression, the second chord in the key of G and the fifth. It's extremely common in all forms of music but especially in jazz, blues, and rock. "Oye Como Va" is a II-V almost entirely.

      Am 7 and D third inversion

    • @EthnHayabusa
      @EthnHayabusa 6 років тому +1

      First Inversion*, there is no 3rd inversion for triads. I'm sure you know that first inversion has the third in the bass, just wouldn't want beginners to be confused. :)
