So, confession: I saw this before I saw the Keira Knightly (or any other) version. I, too, wasn’t sure what to expect. Was it a spoof? Was it serious? I effing loved it! This movie encouraged me to watch the 2005 movie. I had assumed I wouldn’t like it, because I tried to watch the Gwenneth Paltrow version of Emma and couldn’t make it through. Oh, how wrong I was. @@crystalrose_pa oh my god I completely forgot that Pride & Prejudice & Zombies was a book! I was talking about the Jane Austen one lol Thanks for the clarification. I've never read them, but always wanted to
When I was younger, and the books first came out where they took classic books ie: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice etc and added monsters to it, I was all 'Oh this is such rubbish, how dare they!'. it was actually pretty funny when you read the actual text of the books, because they literally used the same sentences, but threw 'zombies' in there in parts. but I definitely enjoyed the movie though. Matt Smith was hilarious as Mr Collins, I feel like he always does the best with whatever ridiculous roles he chooses to pick up. Lady Catherine being extremely badass was also pretty great, because in the original book she has a line about how she would be great the pianoforte, if she had her learned it, but in this one, she actually does stuff, not just comments on it. I'm so glad you guys reacted to this. it's definitely a fun one!
Sam Riley as Mr Darcy, gosh he so handsome. listen I don’t now who made the decision of casting him but who ever did I hope they get everything they ever wish for.
Didn't know what to expect from this movie as an avid Austen reader (and probably more fo a purist), but was tremendously tickled to recognized to many famous British actors!

So much better than you would think adding zombies could do! I didn’t see this movie for a few years after it came out because I was skeptical about it- p&p is my favorite regency era films and I was worried it would be ruined - when I did see it years after release I loved it and was very impressed how they were able to adapt the book so well with the inclusion of zombies. That it could still have the same nuances with the inclusion of the zombies, that the zombie plot did not detract from what makes p&p such a beloved and timeless film! While when it comes to the film adaptations I prefer the 2005 I really liked and enjoyed what this adaptation did with the source material!
7:17 Wholeheartedly did NOT expect that, WTF 16:06 OH! He's the guy from Miley's movie "LOL" Calling Wickham a hoe is WILD 🤣 and the AA analogy was hilarious. Rare Mr. Darcy L 😔
17:40 As a big fan of your Bridgerton reactions, Benji got me good with this snippet. Had an actual laugh out loud moment to myself for a good 2 minutes. I adore ya'lls humor, warms my heart. 😂❤
Also, this movie is based on a book of the same name. The author also wrote a book called Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, which was also adapted into a movie. One of my favorites!! 💥
The person who adapted this took Jane Austen’s original book, and had the rule that every page had to have at least one word changed (notated in red) and at least one word of the original kept (notated in black). He said some pages had only one word in red, and some had only one word in black. He did it basically as a dare, but it ended up being a surprise cult hit.
I'm loving this Pride and Prejudice extravaganza. If you want another one you could try Bride and Prejudice, the Indian version, you know, just for fun 😊 Or Emma 2020 (off of another Jane Austen novel), it is truly a visual masterpierce and it's very entertaining to watch.
I remember watching this when it came out in theaters with my best friend in highschool. I embarrassed myself so much when Matt smith came on screen😅. I’m a sucker for romance and a even bigger sucker for zombies.
If you have room for one more adaptation, there is a TV show called Lost in Austen, about an Austen fan who finds a portal into the world of pride and prejudice in her bathroom and swaps places with lizzie and chaos ensues!
As you know, there have been many different versions of Pride and Prejudice over the years, but I personally love this rendition and how they incorporated zombies into the mix. It would never occur to me to do that, but they pulled it off! And I loved all of the comedic twists. I really enjoyed the fact that the Bennett sisters weren't these ignorant foolish simps but rather these bad ass bitches. Did you notice how during the first ball scene where everyone was running out to escape from the Zombies, but the Bennett sisters actually ran in to obliterate them? I loved that! And don't even get me started on Mr. Collins character. Dude was crazy nuts! I was dying when he was making Lizzie carry all the rifles to her aunts house just so he could get there early to get a fresh scone. And the mother asking Lady Katherine if she wore her eye patch for fashion or function? Wtf?! That was super random! Anyway, thanks for taking me down memory lane- I hadn't watched that film in quite a while. Keep up the great work!! 😂😘🧟 🎥

Ok first, loved the call back to Cinderella benji. That was a good one. Second, my random thought about disney descendants. Did anyone feel like the song “Night Falls” from the third one would work in this movie? Third: while this is not my favorite version of the story, I like how they are making it more palatable for a younger audience who may want to start reading Austen.
I am so happy you guys reacted to this movie. It's so silly but also fun. Benji breaking out(kinda) into the Into The Woods song, makes me want to see The Pink Popcast react to the filmed 1991 stage version with Bernadette Peters, it's so so good!
That movie is just stupid fun and of course it's a fanfic. It was published as a parody in 2009, there's also one about Sense & Sensibility with sea monsters 🤣
Loving the pride and prejudice reactions❤coming from a fan of the book I think y’all are so funny (btw I think y’all would love Austenland, a funny spin on the movie with Jennifer Coolidge)
This is such a guilty pleasure movie for me lol. It’s definitely a movie that you don’t watch to take seriously, but I do genuinely enjoy how they weaved the zombies into the historical aspect. Mainly though, I watch this movie for Lilly James and for Matt Smith as Mr. Collins who is actually one of, if not my favorite version, of Mr. Collins. People can say what they want about this movie, but he was truly an inspired casting choice and plays it extremely well😂
Yesssssssss this is why I love you guys ❤️ this movie is my guilty pleasure it’s not super goofy and they follow the story without making it a parody super fun watch, happy you two had fun.
Have you guys ever heard of the movie Austenland (2013) starring Keri Russell and Jennifer Coolidge?! It’s a really good watch since you’re on the Jane Austen and Bridgerton watch train!
This movie is based on a book by Seth Grahame Smith, the guy who wrote Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and was published by Quirk who also published Miss Peregrine’s. They tried to make this a series, also publishing a prequel and more importantly an adaptation of Sense and Sensibility called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters which was unfortunately not made into a movie.
Rizzo exclaiming "oh, Charles Dance is in this!" as he's literally narrating the intro xD And I still maintain you should watch the BBC mini series of Pride & Prejudice, if only for the iconic wet shirt scene ;) Matt Smith can make any character likeable, it's bizarre. Oh, and I want all of Lizzie's coats.
yeah, as others have said this film adaptation is in places more book accurate than the Pride & Prejudice film you reacted to, in some cases even the costumes in this are more accurate, because the director of the Knightely P&P just happened to prefer costumes from a slightly earlier time period and like most filmmakers, refused to work with bonnets.
I had an OBSESSION when this came out literally watched it so many times! I really enjoy this movie a lot and I haven’t seen the original one with Keira knightly 💀
I think y’all would have fun watching another interesting and comical P&P adaptation called Lost in Austen! It’s a four episode miniseries on Prime. I had reservations that kept me from watching this for a long time, but eventually caved and it’s such a fun adaptation. I agree Benji, I never knew I wanted an action packed regency movie. I love a strong female character.
When this book dropped I loved it so much. It literally just is pride and prejudice with random inserts about zombies. It's hilarious. There were tons of these at the time. Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter, which is the Abe Lincoln bio but they added vampires to it, lol. Those are the three I know about that are actually well done. I know there are more of them.
There are parody/mash up books with the same title of Jane Austin’s literature: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters.
If anyone here wants to see more of CHarles Dance (the man playing Mr Bennet) there's 'Gosford Park' (minor role though - but a good movie, like a detective mystery story but not really), 'Bleak House' (miniseries, 10 or 12 episodes roughly, good series), and 'And Then There Were None' 4 part mystery story, Agatha Christie's darkest and based off the book rather than the play adaptation she wrong of it which had a happier ending.

I love the KK version, I love the PPZ version, and even like the ‘95 BBC version.
So glad y’all made it to the after credits, lol.
The fight scene with Liz and Darcy is amazing, cuz they can finally exhibit their anger and emotions, instead of internalizing them. My favorite part is where she’s throwing the books at him with “She’s. Shy!”
And that kiss at the end is what we were all wanting with 2005’s Liz and Darcy in the rain. They’d looked ready, lol.
the "She's. Shy" got me too!
I am fond of this movie. One of the things that I love is they really leaned into Bingley being such an adorable himbo 😂
He definitely was 🙆🏽♂️
I think Darcy is weaker in this version but I adore the other actors and interpretation. Just so much fun. Gutted it didn't get it's sequel.
Was there a sequel to the book??? 😮
@@PinkPopcast no the book never had a sequel, but it's my understanding they wrote this movie to have a sequel...to tie up the loose ends of the story of this zombie version. It ends kinda abruptly
@@71lizgoeshardtThere’s actually both a sequel and prequel in the books. The 2nd book released (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls) depicts the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. The 3rd book released in the series (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dreadfully Ever After) takes place after Elizabeth and Darcy are married.
@@crystalrose_pa oh my god I completely forgot that Pride & Prejudice & Zombies was a book! I was talking about the Jane Austen one lol
Thanks for the clarification. I've never read them, but always wanted to
@@71lizgoeshardtthe movie is better than the book! 😊
Yeah this LK seems to actually LIVE her life!
Benji at 31:41 had me wheezing to the extent that my pets ran in to check on me. Both times I watched it. 🤣
It’s such an understated little gag
Sam Riley as Mr Darcy, gosh he so handsome.
listen I don’t now who made the decision of casting him but who ever did I hope they get everything they ever wish for.
🥵🥵🥵
Still waiting for a movie adaptation of Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. 🐙
fingers crossed you get it!
Love this! Please watch the A&E six episode Pride and Prejudice series with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle next! It’s wonderful!
It's on our list!
Didn't know what to expect from this movie as an avid Austen reader (and probably more fo a purist), but was tremendously tickled to recognized to many famous British actors!
They got you!
Gotta tell you - I found you through your collab with Eric/Pretty Much It. You had me immediately, but that HSM send-up was how I KNEW you guys were my people. This is a WONDERFUL channel, and you two make a lot of people, myself included, very very happy. Thank you ❤
Oh my god thank you so so much 🥹
So much better than you would think adding zombies could do!
Yea we were really impressed with how much they were able to maintain the story while adding so much with the zombies!
it's clunky but it's so much fun!
7:17 Wholeheartedly did NOT expect that, WTF
16:06 OH! He's the guy from Miley's movie "LOL"
Calling Wickham a hoe is WILD 🤣 and the AA analogy was hilarious. Rare Mr. Darcy L 😔
That’s two for two on Darcy’s being lame
17:40 As a big fan of your Bridgerton reactions, Benji got me good with this snippet. Had an actual laugh out loud moment to myself for a good 2 minutes. I adore ya'lls humor, warms my heart. 😂❤
😂😂 thank you! 🥰
Also, this movie is based on a book of the same name. The author also wrote a book called Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, which was also adapted into a movie. One of my favorites!! 💥
Saw that one in theaters and it was… quite an experience 😬
The person who adapted this took Jane Austen’s original book, and had the rule that every page had to have at least one word changed (notated in red) and at least one word of the original kept (notated in black). He said some pages had only one word in red, and some had only one word in black. He did it basically as a dare, but it ended up being a surprise cult hit.
Y’all! I set an alarm for this! Alexa just told me (as if I wasn’t already waiting for the clock) that it was time to watch!
😁😁
Have you guys seen The Sandman? Charles Dance features in the first episode.
Noooo!
Haha yes we’ll definitely be doing more
Also the action and fighting makes the regency era stuff better
Yess!
I remember watching this when it came out in theaters with my best friend in highschool. I embarrassed myself so much when Matt smith came on screen😅. I’m a sucker for romance and a even bigger sucker for zombies.
you must have been in HEAVEN!
@@PinkPopcast lol I was 😂
If you have room for one more adaptation, there is a TV show called Lost in Austen, about an Austen fan who finds a portal into the world of pride and prejudice in her bathroom and swaps places with lizzie and chaos ensues!
ALL HE WANTED WAS A FRESH SCONE!?!?
off topic but since we got this movie
im still waiting for someone to fulfil Leah Pipes' wish and make a "Romeo and Juliet and Vampires" with her and joseph morgan
GIVE IT TO ME
i nominate you two to make it, I just know Benji would write the best love confessions bridgerton style
Ooomggg yesss!!!!
@@PinkPopcast
gonna take this as Benji admitting he likes klamille
screaming
(if u dont, let me live in delusion)
My reaction prayers have been answered! This is my top 1 comfort movie as a fantasy nerd with an unhealthy obsession with the romance genre.
🙌🙌❤️❤️
🫂🥰
I think you guys would love INTO THE WOODS. It intertwines classic fairy tales, takes an unexpectedly dark turn, has a great message and is a MUSICAL! They SING ABOUT IT
24:47 "you cant say this if its not raining" LOL
😂💦
The level of excitement I have for this reaction is unholy and profane 😆
🙌🙌❤️
I’ve read the book a few times (school) and omg 😭😭some of the dialogue is word for word like why does it feel like this movie was a planned out Ao3 by someone who loved the book 😭
I can't answer the 2nd random thought as I (Rizzo) have never seen any of those films (though we eventually plan to cover them here)
@@PinkPopcast am excited to see those when you plan on doing them. No rush though.
I am so happy you guys reacted to this movie. It's so silly but also fun. Benji breaking out(kinda) into the Into The Woods song, makes me want to see The Pink Popcast react to the filmed 1991 stage version with Bernadette Peters, it's so so good!
Did not know she was in that production wow!
I JUST FINSIHED SEASON 3 PART TWO OF BRIDGERTON AND NOW THIS COMES UP??? OH HELL YEAH ❤❤❤
Can’t wait to share our reactions too!
I feel like this would double as a valentine and Halloween movie ngl
That movie is just stupid fun and of course it's a fanfic. It was published as a parody in 2009, there's also one about Sense & Sensibility with sea monsters 🤣
If you’re in the mood for more P&P, I definitely think Austenland is worth the watch!
It’s on our list 😊
I'm so happy you watched it! Another unique zombie movie is Fido. It's a heartwarming story about a boy and his pet zombie.
This film is an exercise in bi panic… Lily James is an amazing Elizabeth Bennet
I keep hearing that 😂
I unironically love this movie, it's so misunderstood 😭
Haha it was way better than we thought
The “my courage always rises” line is from the original book and it’s one of my favorites so I’m kind of happy it made it into this one 😅
Loving the pride and prejudice reactions❤coming from a fan of the book I think y’all are so funny (btw I think y’all would love Austenland, a funny spin on the movie with Jennifer Coolidge)
I only noticed it now, but this Mr Darcy is the same actor who played the crow in maleficent! God, I love that movie!
Collins. People can say what they want about this movie, but he was truly an inspired casting choice and plays it extremely well😂
He was ALOT of fun, and I was very impressed with his… “lightness of foot”
@@PinkPopcast it makes me chuckle every single time😂
My favorite scene is the dance
When they walk in slashing zombies and Darcy immediately eats his words while watching her fight
So good!
Looooveee this moviiieee. It's ridiculous and I love seeing Lily James kick some Regency-era zombie ass
Yes!! She was awesome!
Yesssssssss this is why I love you guys ❤️ this movie is my guilty pleasure it’s not super goofy and they follow the story without making it a parody super fun watch, happy you two had fun.
I was pleasantly surprised how serious but fun it was!
Have you guys ever heard of the movie Austenland (2013) starring Keri Russell and Jennifer Coolidge?! It’s a really good watch since you’re on the Jane Austen and Bridgerton watch train!
it's on our list of movies to watch!
OMGGGG I cannot believe that you did it guys!! thank uuu 💖
you're welcome!!!
😂😂 no prob
You should watch Bride and Prejudice, the Bollywood style version of P & P
We want to!
I missed their “turns about the room” It would’ve been hilarious to see zombies do that 😆
Omg that would have been classic!!!
You guys should watch ‘Bride and prejudice’ next omg it was my all time fav, I’ve just subscribed!
Love Benji never missing an opportunity to shade Colin “we’re just friends” Bridgerton 👌
😂😂
This movie is based on a book by Seth Grahame Smith, the guy who wrote Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and was published by Quirk who also published Miss Peregrine’s. They tried to make this a series, also publishing a prequel and more importantly an adaptation of Sense and Sensibility called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters which was unfortunately not made into a movie.
Rizzo exclaiming "oh, Charles Dance is in this!" as he's literally narrating the intro xD And I still maintain you should watch the BBC mini series of Pride & Prejudice, if only for the iconic wet shirt scene ;)
Matt Smith can make any character likeable, it's bizarre. Oh, and I want all of Lizzie's coats.
ommggg not rizzo watching the actual pride and prejudice a thousand times but still being shocked at mr wickham's storyline XD
lol I’m happy you two nerds found each other and became friends lol
😂😂 thanks us too!
@@PinkPopcast hope you guys keep having so much fun!
yeah, as others have said this film adaptation is in places more book accurate than the Pride & Prejudice film you reacted to, in some cases even the costumes in this are more accurate, because the director of the Knightely P&P just happened to prefer costumes from a slightly earlier time period and like most filmmakers, refused to work with bonnets.
Wait… did they not wear bonnets in P&P 2005!?!?
I had an OBSESSION when this came out literally watched it so many times! I really enjoy this movie a lot and I haven’t seen the original one with Keira knightly 💀
Watch the 2005 version it’s SO good!
Benji's concern for the flies was so hilarious!!!😂😂😂
I really want them to watch the 1995 BBC P&P even though it’s not as “exciting” as the 2005 but it is my favorite.
Maybe one day!
Sounds like Alice I’m wonderland lol
@@PinkPopcast Lol it’s quite funny and doesn’t fully stick to the original narrative, so it’s fun to guess what will happen next.
Didn’t the same writer do Lincoln Vampire Hunter?
I saw that movie YEARS ago but can’t remember the killer
@@PinkPopcast thinking of seeing it again on the channel? They do say it requires two - one where we're told who the killer was, and one where we rewatch to find the clues.
I bloody love this version so much it's actually one of my most favourite adaptations of Pride & Prejudice 😂❤ I love how you lot were like "OH GOSH IT'S THE SAME FILM!" 🤣
Sooooo how about a reaction to "Warm Bodies" next then? ❤
Definitely expecting a more liberal adaptation lol
