- I haven't been a fan of these "Mama" Themed commercials from Plymouth. They ran them for two years, 1979 thru 1971 with then Arthur Godfrey becoming the Plymouth and Chrysler Spokes person in 1972, Mama was gone. In this commercial, it does tie the story together with references to the whole family, Older Brother Dr. driving the Fury, Engineering Grad Sister driving the Duster. Marvin, played by a very young Gary Burghoff, here is the "unstable" son driving the Cuda. Marvin ends up with a Sebring for 1971, the Barracuda in 1970. Sorry on the poor quality upload, working to get a better copy. Some folks think this is Gary Burghoff? I'm not so sure? • 1971 Plymouth Sebring ...
Had one. Now. I. Cryyy. For it everyday......
the scary part is i remember that commercial vividly
Radar O’ Reilly! Gary Burghoff.
Radar! Never seen him in a commercial.
"Bananacuda..."!! That line cracks me up!!
Good to see Gary looking after his mother
For those e-body, Mopar or no car guys, that's a grand coupe barracuda. Evident by the overhead console.
The Backaruda, as some of us called it back in the day.
Strange to see the "T handle" shifter in a 70 'Cuda.
My 70 'Cuda had the straight button top shifter.
Then I got a 71 with the "T handle" shifter.
This commercial might have been filmed near the end of the 70 model year.
This is the “Gran Coupe” model, which was the luxury leaning package and had these sorts of interior upgrades.
I have been looking for this commercial for so long.... Love it. I also remember this playing over and over again...
love these Plymouth ads with Lillian Adams - she’s so funny - R.I.P. Ms. Adams - we miss you
Radar!❤
I'm showing my age.I remember watching that commercial.
There is no doubt that a lot of actors get their start doing car commercials. All very young and looking for work. I've seen Robert de Niro, Richard Dreyfuss, Tom Selleck, Gary burghoff just to name a few 👍
Wow! Absolutely bowled over by this one! Gonna share.
"banana cooter"... good lord!!! 🤣🤣🤣
His mother should be proud his $3.200 Cuda is worth $400.000 now
Very cool
Make's me miss my 70 Barracuda Gran Coupe.
Gary looks exactly like how I'd imagine a young guy that bought a new 70 would look. Having some new money, kind of geeky, but quickly becoming cool.
...and gettin' plenty of AK-SHUN!!!
@@bobtepedino5661 with Ma? Eeeeu.
@@JohnShinn1960 You weirdo! : )
@@bobtepedino5661 Them damn promiscuous boomers
Wow, Radar drove a backerfishy.
Fancy Schmancy. I'll take one!
Mama: How come you never call me?
Me: ..........
Keep in mind that neither of these actors in this commercial wrote the script. I think they did a pretty good job working with what they had.
Radar!!
A stick slip shifter. Lol.
There's no need to argue parents just dont understand
I wonder if he took his uncle Ed out for a drive next.
This must be Norm Crosby's mom.
My mom sounded like that when I got a Lincoln Mark 8
That's what my Mom sounded like when I bought a new 79 TBird……..except she was worse......and she threatened to cut off my college tuition!
@@OsbornTramain holly! After the Lincoln I was looking at 300 Cs and she got after me for that too.
Ah man and this whole time I thought Alan Alda was the cool one. Was I wrong ! Lolz
And it probably was a 318 car
That’s radar O’Reilly from mash driving a 70 barracuda 53 years ago awesome
Stick Slip Shifter!
Mrs. Malaprop!
And look at all those guages! What are you an airplane pilot or something???
Ah, Gran Coupe!
I think I hear MY mom ...
71 shifter...
it' can't be a 71 shifter, the commercial aired in Fall of 1969
My brother had a friend with a yellow Hemi Barracuda... A real Bananacuda. 😁
Does it come with a "Radar" detector?
Overhead console.....in a cuda? Since when?
Since it was an option.
Challenger had it too on the special edition. I think cuda was grand cuda. I believe it was a package. Challenger had smaller window and rear silver panel, I have a challenger so I’m more familiar with the challenger
I knew a 1970 440 Gran Coupe that had one.
