I believe that I have some of that filler. It's yellowish in color? I save that lightweight filler for areas that will stay on the model since I have a limited supply. I use heavier stuff for plugs.
It fit the bill for the criteria I set which was: 1) A simple, straight forward build that could (hopefully) be completed in 3-6 months (that didn't happen) 2) Could be easily modified to accept flaps, 3) Would be a good test for the flap linkage, 4) Would be fun to fly, and 5) At least reasonably scale
That was to protect the wood structure underneath from epoxy possibly sticking and creating trouble like it did with the blue foam. I didn't care if the blue foam was damaged but I didn't want that to happen to the fuselage when removing the cured part even if it is covered by the cowl.
West systems have a lightweight filler that you mix like microballons into epoxy and is much easier to sand. I used it a lot on the full size cowl.

Looks great!
Thank you!
@@BalsaAeroProjects I'm curios - the DR107 as an RC model is pretty rare, why you chose it? BTW if you need reference I built the full scale :)

Hello, what is the purpose of the film covering on the straight section ?

@@BalsaAeroProjects noted. Thank you
What do you use to seal the foam ?
@@Paul_RC A water-based sanding sealer that is easily found locally.
