- This is Rob Dahm´s (yes, the fellow automotive UA-camr) Mazda RX-7 FD3S monster, built in Record Time, to tackle the ultimate HillClimb Challenge, Pikes Peak International HillClimb. As many of those who follow Rob´s channel will know, this Monster was just finished right on time pass Safety Inspection during Monday prior to the event and would go on to have very limited track action during the week, until being unleashed on the Full Event. Amazingly, it would go on to be able to finish it with a respectable 11:04 chrono, while trying to preserve its internal, with some clever reserved driving making sure overheating would not get the better of the newly built package. Still this is a 3 Rotor 20B Semi peripherally ported powered machine fitted with a G45 Garrett Turbo good for over 1200Hp at Sea Level. Engine was also moved back 8 inches making this now a truly Mid-Eengined race car. Fitted with a Tick/PPG t56 magnum sequential with MME air shifter, a Ford 8.8 rear diff, 285 18s Wheels all around with Bridgestone RE71RS rubber, 50/50 perfect weight distribution and a 1270Kg Total Weight. An Haltech R5 ECU is the electronical brain behind all this, Öhlins ILX suspension to connect chassis and wheels with Custom rear suspension drop knuckles, and aerodinamically we can see an APR GT2000 rear wing and Full flat bottom.
So epic as i dont get to enjoy the flybys. Im just hanging on for dear life wondering why i got myself into this hahaha. jk it was one of the most fun enjoyable driving experiences ever. I was lift and coasting to prevent overheating so on the straights i was pointing at spectators and waving. gave me time to really enjoy WHY we do things like this
Saw you upload and saw hillclimb monsters had to take a sneak peak 😂
Cant wait to see the time gets put up!!!!
Always liked the sound of these cars - back in the late 1980s my brother's best friend had one. My brother hit it with my dad's 87 Accord LXi one night in the rain. Bumper of the RX7 pushed the nose of the Accord in.
Hearing the reaction on the people when passing by its awesome
Nothing but support man, it's an awesome step in your journey to getting to race up pikes peak with the 4 rotor some day. I can't wait for that day, it will be legendary
Holy shit I look away for one minute and he's turned the 3 rotor into a 1200hp hillclimb monster, Rob never disappoints
(in only 5 months)
I can't wait to see the final video on Rob Dahm''s youtube channel about this build. So far it's been an insane journey, and we're glad to see footage of his car performing well!
He posted 😮
I just finished watching them crack the eggs...I don't get emotionally involved in videos, but I was stressed out watching that episode.
Rob has come so far from when I started watching him in 2017. He has become a true craftsman of his own cars. 👏🏽
What a tip of the hat to Rob being featured on this channel
The fact that he made it up the mountain after all the struggles he and his team went through is so great to see. Props to Rob and his team for making this monster a reality.
Dude had the slowest pikes peak climb i've ever seen.
@@averagereviews3389 first time up the mountain in a car he just built, hasn't been tested well and has an overheating issue, id say he did well considering
@@averagereviews3389he came 7th in his class so he didnt do that bad all things considered
Edit: looking at your previous comments i see that you’re just a rob dahm hater lol
@@averagereviews3389let’s see the video of YOUR car up the hill…
@@stevemccauley5734 averagereviews3389 is craving for some attention even if it proves he's a "monkey spanker".
It's wild to me how he was only about 30 seconds off of Mad Mike's rotary record up the hill.
Brand new build done in a few months with almost zero testing, the incorrect tires and it was his first ever run up Pikes Peak.
Mad Mike on the other hand had one extra rotor and turbo on his car, and it was all built by a professional team and sponsored by Red Bull and Mazda.
30 seconds is a lot lol
@streetfighter4006 pikes peak is a veeery long hillclimb, so 30 seconds really isn't crazy. I'd say its comparable to 4s~6s gap on a normal lap time. A big difference, but still impressive when we're talking about the gap to a record.
@@streetfighter4006considering Robs time was a little over 11 mintues, a 30 second difference is extremely good for his very 1st run up the mountain and 1st shakedown for the car.
After seeing the video @robdahm posted you know they have so much more to do before the next pikes, excited to see the full shakedown and rib get dialed in his driving.
Its funny when people think Dahm is good with rotors lol
The smiles on the spectators faces as he went by was just fantastic.
Better footage than the whole stream, we were waiting for this!
Agreed the stream has been terrible for pikes peak. It's unbelievable how a company with deep pockets like Mobil1 couldn't put on a better effort than that. Then to see they were running ad's through the chat during Pikes Peak this year was pretty low class. I honestly bet Cleetus's live streaming company could do better with it than Mobil1 does.
Love Mazda. Love Rotary.. Greetings from Ireland...
A huge learning curve, Rob will no doubt improve in all aspects
Seeing where this car was at just 1 week before the race, and to see him going up the track at speed (im sure theres so much left to squeeze out of the platform) is just amazing. A team of just a few guys, self taught. The car sounds amazing, the shifts are orgasmic. Im so excited to watch Rob get to enjoy all of his hard work and relentless attention to his cars. Keeping the rotary alive, giving us great content. Thank you for doing this, Rob!
同じくRob DahmさんのAWD・4ローターRX-7とは、また違った意味でこちらもかっこいいですね。海外でもマツダのロータリーが愛されているのは嬉しいです。
We all love doritos, our governments dont
"Aw my gawd, look at that thing" - Exactly what Rob Dahm was after. #success
oh my gyatt
Ken Block would have been proud of Rob Dahm
Can’t believe im seeing his car on this channel, that’s amazing 🥹🔥🔥🔥
Hell yeah!
Ikr
Rob has made it big time with this feature.
Its honestly the dream for me. Legitimizing my efforts and having positive results that arent just from my fans. Im tired of being a youtuber who almost woulda coulda eventually maybe.. This is the test bed for the AWD 4 rotor to go break records first run up the hill. Or break axles. either or haha
@RobDahm sounds about right! Almost done with your newest vid right now.
Heh, it said semi pp
Can't believe I'm seeing this on this channel
In Rob we trust. Greetings from Greece.
Rob is part Greek. 23 and me would never lie ❤
Jeez i remeber his first track days where he pushed in the clutch to go around corners!
Haha Yeah. He's definitely improved as a driver and this run takes HUGE BALLS!
Yesss
I've been hoping you would feature Rob
When he brings the 4 rotor out oneday you need to go all out for that video
god that 3 round burst of the 3 rotor is pure love
So glad to see my vid here at 0:54 :D
Though, as others have suggested to me, it could use a bit of stabilization!
Maybe it could, but alongside the launch, it is our favourite bit of the video TBH 😉🤝
THANK YOU for posting this, been scouring the internet looking for footage. LFGOO ROB!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't be a letsgobro
lol Robert Dahm, never seen it as his full legal…
Looked like a ton of fun.
I know the car's a constant project, and there was a TON of work prepping it for hill climb. I'm glad the car was sorted well, held up, and gave you a good run up the hill. It's a testament to how much work you've done and how far the car's come.
HELL YEAH. You stitched together a great video. Thank you
well deserved spot! hope see him again in more developed car
4 rotor is coming either next year or 2026, and the 3 rotor is a play toy compared to that thing
And it needs a racing driver too
@@HyviaVideoitaMansenlale robs a far better driver than people realize
@@Maarnu_ I have been following him long enough to know better, lol. But sure he is way above the average, but no racing driver yet by a long shot, though.
@@HyviaVideoitaMansenlale Have you not read Rob's comment above? He literly said he was enjoying the ride and interacting with fans. He wasn't pushing the car to its limits, even though he could have, he was simply having fun and toying around. If rob wanted to, he would go much faster bro.
If anyone didn’t notice, he’s taking it easy at times, while not blowing it up😅😂 it’s so good to see that thing alive ❤️
Dahm on this channel. He's legit now, hehe.
Silly Rob. You added DOWNforce when you want o climb UP the mountain.
certified legend now
My emotions can not be showing in this comment. My man put it together with his team and done a mission impossible I'm happy
robs time up the mountain was 11:04.797. very good for the first run with barely any testing
This car is so god Dahm cool
So happy Rob and team managed to get that thing buttoned up enough past the last minute and still were able to make a run! Congrats!
This IS bringing a whole new generation into this. Pikes Peak is smart to let him run. That will ensure they have plenty of future racer lined up to race.
i watched his bulid from the start, im so proud of rob its like going you kids first game!
Holy shit amazing footage. I feel like I'm watching the meeting of two histories - this ain't just a UA-cam build any more, this is a bona fide hillclimb monster. This is a legend in the making. Just the look and the sound and the triple bang on up shift. Legendary.
truly brutal sounds , no electric hotted up cake mixer will ever beat that . Truly a great effort .,now a weeks sleep . .next time start early enough to get it all dialed [ I know, like if one more person says that !??].
never thought I'd see Rob , love the work he put on his journey
Rob and the gang absolutely did it. So impressive! And the sounds that beast is making is so awesome!👏
It sounds like a Tie Fighter from Star Wars HOLY! 1:07
You did an excellent job with this compilation video. Very well done and fun to watch. Kevin Dahm (Rob’s dad)
Let's goooooo!!!! Awesome to see you on the hill man!!! Such a beautiful machine you have crafted!!! Hope we get to see more stuff like this!! Would love to see this car on nuremberg nordschleife!!!
Where would you and every other commenter like to go exactly?
@@djb5320 my top 3 bucket list tracks are #1 nuremberg nordschleife #2 Pikes Peak #3 Mount Panorama
Glad to see he made it out. I know he was trying hard.
Congratulations to Rob on seeing all your hard work pay off and getting to run the peak.
Man that thing sounds and looks sooooo good
Jeez that car has an almost 1 to 1 power to weight ratio! What a monster!
I Copied and pasted your results and I am so please delete this message if I over stepped by doing so but I am SOOOOOOOO damn happy for you guys. Huge results for the huge amount of time put into this monster of a car. You and your team have the right to be extremely proud of yourselves for the placement and time. Truly impressive for never running this race before this year. CONGRAT'S TEAM DAHM!!!!!

This video was awesome to watch. That 3 rotor sounds nasty. Congrats to @robdahm and his team on a wild build a clean run up the hill
OOOOH MY GOOOOOOD !!!! I F***ING LOVE the sound of a blood tuned Rotary engine
I think the sound is grating and obnoxious. However, both you and I are correct. Beauty is in the eye (ear) of the beholder.
@@frankhage1734 that is a great reply. Not often you see someone disagree ,but again show respectful behaviour and reply. I like that, and I do like your description "obnoxious" 🤣🤣 you are absolutely spot on. The sound is kind of obnoxious 😅
All wheel drive in the future or at least 30/70 split.
Been a long time coming.
Saalute.
Now who’s too fast two furious!!!
Get’M!!!
Those shifts sound godly!
man there are many engines out there but there is just something special about a good sounding rotary. The engine sounds like a professional singer hitting the perfect high note all the time and is so pleasant to listen to that is sends chills down my spine and excites you every time you hear it.
If he had showed up for practice he might’ve had an impressive run
That crazy son of a B did it! Sounds great!
U go rob dahm!👍🏾
Great video and car!!
Sounds like the engine is clearly a bit struggling on the higher altitudes🧐
Even from the start I'd say more tuning is in order
considering it was tuned day of I'm not surprised
i half joke but now that Pikes is over i can finally shake down the car haha
@@RobDahm only respect for what you do. I wish I could go up that hill in a car like that. You are doing it!
that sounds amazing 🤤
So proud for him!
The sound of that thing is just amazing!!!!
What an unexpected surprise to see Rob Dahm ripping through pikes peak
I’m so glad I go to see this in person and even make into the video for 2 frames. Video will never do this car justice. Sounded absolutely insane
Can’t wait to see the full vid. This thing is a monster.
monsters aren't real
Totally epic! You can definitely tell its a fair bit slower at the top of the hill. big props to rob and the team
sounds so good echoing in the mountains 😍
Love the way that dragon snorts.
Congratulations!!!! . Great to see you got to Pikes Peak. Also to see you absolutely gunning it. That 3rotor is heaven to my ears. Sounds pitch perfect. Love it. You should contact James Dean and have a race against his 3rotor. Only messing. Lol lol.Big respect 🙏 👏 to Rob and his fantastic crew of fabricators and skilled welders .
That man builds INSANE MOTORS 😱😂✌️🇬🇧
This one is not built by him, I believe.
@mikeysan4 oh no, he built it. Not the plates yet. But he'll get there
@@mikeysan4 he definitely built it. It's like you putting together your entire engine by hand, selecting each and every part and component, and you using a couple "off the shelf" components during the build (that was still probably in excess of 60k) and someone saying "you didn't build it, you used this cam, which Crane ground, you didn't mill and grind your own cam out of a block of billet on your own CNC and lathe!"....😅
@@mikeysan4 Watch the videos... The whole cars is built from the ground up by him and his team... everyone is going to buy parts here and there but its definitely built by them.
if this isnt one of the best sounding cars i've ever heard... my godd Rob job well done mate! bravooo
i was scrolling past, had to double take and click into the vid once i heard that engine. Dahm!!
My god, the gearshifts! Sounds like bursts of cannonfire. Awesome!
Goosebumps !!!
Seeing his name spelled out as Robert Dahm is just hilarious for some reason
Wow it didn't fall apart.
Amazing
Love the shifts!
Pretty stock. Why not some tuning on that bog race?
Can’t wait to see it next year after a bit more development 👍👍
I am so impressed! great stuff Rob!!!
I love how the RX-7 looks, even with all of that crazy aero. The sound is also insane! Rob Dahm really knows how to make a masterpiece.
I would love to see that on the old course when it was a dirt road😢😢😢😢
Im so glad rob made it. He deserves this massive W. Just his car qualifying and running means a lot to people like me, his long time fans.
A true credit to him and his team ! 💪💪
LETS GOOO ROBBBBB
Can I come?
This is my new favorite song
1:12 kind of a clean skid, no?
It is so amazing to see someone that designs builds and races the car rob is the man 🤟
Love the vid, but please make sure to give credit to the rightful owners of the clips you are using! I know most of the people that filmed these while we were on the mountain. Thanks!
Hi @tyschwarzer3237, the vid was edited with bits and pieces that were sent to us after the event, we assumed from those filming it (some who sent bits are in this comment section too) but if some parts are not and not credited, we would gladly give all the credit needed, or if someone has any issue with the video it we can take it down too. No intention of stepping onto others copyright and we will do whats necessary to ensure it 👍🤝
oh look, two of my favorite channels colliding.
that shifting sound insane
Awesome Rob! Congratulations to you and your team for just getting there. Can't wait to see you compete.
One of the slower cars i've seen do Pikes Peak. The triple fart noise sounds cool though.
Few things why, He missed all the practice days and first time doing Pikes peak in a untested car, Overheating issues means he has to turn the boost right down. Done good considering that
3:08 thats new mt. records
The car is so composed. You can tell it has way more to give. Can't wait to see him catch up to the car and really start wheeling it
That was absolutely fucking glorious, Rob. 😍👍🏻
Was Robs Grandma driving?
From a car that nearly beat Ken Block's Hoonigan on an airstrip. I can't wait for the 4 rotor to get it's wings maybe next year. Would love to see the full edit from Robs onboard.
Can't wait to see this car next year with the overheating fixed and some more seat time, I know Rob can get near the 9's.
And to think this was without any proper testing...
That thing is SICK AF!!!
