I am having an issue trying to use the slice tool. I will figure it out, I hope! lol
Me too ... slice isn’t a highlighted option only the weld, attach & flatten buttons

thank you for leaving such a great quality easy to follow video. I've always wondered how this was done and last night I had the ability to do this over and over for so many things because you made it so simple I do have one question I'm a little confused as to whether this is a print and cut design or if this is just a layered heat transfer design. I noticed on your screen it was just a cut symbol I was able to design so many things but not sure how to go about printing them out

Do you know if this can be done in craft room? It looks like I could put my image over my text and not weld, which would cut out that of the text, im guessing with that portion gone I could weed out the in between portions as well???

Yes HTV, you would cut in two colors and then press one at a time. :)

Love your tutorial. ScrappyDivaKaren has a video on this technique too, and at least there's sound. Okay, so now what? Is this something you can follow-up with, as others have asked, to see what it looks like printed and/or cut? That would be so appreciated. Martha Hurtado Just download the font. You will double click on the .TTF file and it will load into your computer mac and then be in design space.

Wonderful video- loved it, but I have a question. Will the dog be cut out just like the letters or drawn on the cardstock first, then the letters cut out? Ken, I also have a Golden. By far the BEST dog EVER!! This is why you have 3 I'm sure! :) I would love to change the font to pink and the dog remain black or brown. I am a newbie, just opened my Explore box yesterday. But I am thinking it should not be that hard to change the font color. However I wish we could choose a different picture for the Golden, I think this dog looks like my English Chocolate Lab. (Just a thought). :)

So to do a top and have two colors of vinyl, do you cut one color and then the other and place them individually on the shirt?
Sandy Laning yes that is correct. Do a quick heat press on the first layer.
Awesome video. Easy to understand, but would you be able to tell me why when I go to slice does it not allow me to slice. It is greyed out. What am I doing wrong?
Jennifer Medina make sure you only have two items selected....sometimes pieces are hidden and this can cause a problem

I left a post earlier regarding Design Space upload pages that were laid out differently on your web page than mine (oddly I no longer see that post).
But am now trying to intercept you
The FALL update modifies the "Upload Image" page….and figures out for you if it's a cut image by the extension (.jpg, .svg, .dxf, .bmp, etc) ….and an "Upload Pattern" option. So save yourself some reply time.
Ken, Im wondering how your design space doesnt have the annoying buttons on each corner of the images. In mine it has the buttons on all 4 corners for moving, locking, resizing, and deleting. How did you change that?

I am following this video step by step and my slice feature will not light up for me to select it. I am holding shift down in order to select both images. Design space is soooooo flighty.

Ok, I have my image on the words. I selected my dog, hit shift and ten then clicked on the text. I then hit slice. But instead of everything turning one color, I have 2 colors. I'm going crazy here!
Hmm, I finally got it but I don't know how. I had multiple layers showing up for my words but I don' t know why! It was much easier the way you did it. I wish I could show you a picture of what I keep getting.

Why doesn't it cut out the dogs nose tho? It cuts out all the other spacing but the upper part of the N doesn't get cut

How can I leave a bit of a border around my "knock out" image? Obviously if I just try to resize down a bit it doesn't fit back into the larger image in the correct way. Thanks!

+Michele Roberts Michelle, i am new too and the offset feature was one I used frequently. According to all I've read, you currently cannot do an offset in Design Space. I import my images into Inkspace. If I want sharp corners I use "Offset". If I want rounded corners, I use "Dynamic Offset".

sorry - I thought I would get a notification if you replied! Yes, all ungrouped except for the letters. I get 4 layers - 2 of each colors. I tried to screen shot ... I tried again, and again ... not sure what I'm doing wrong!
I kept playing with it ... I think if i delete the 2nd and 4th layers it works!!! Not sure why it's different for me - but thanks for the tutorial!!

You are a great teacher Ken, but I am a poor student! I am trying to follow your directions, but when I click on both my wording and image, it won't let me select "slice". It's not highlighted to let me select it. Why?

+Brenda Lawrence Highlighting all isn't working for me either. Can you do a number over a text? I was trying to make a "solo" cup that says, "PROCEED TO PARTY" with the numbers 21. But it doesn't matter what I do, the slice feature isn't highlighted for me to select it.
