Norway beats Brazil with Romario in football 1997 on Ullevål Stadium. The legendary Egil "Drillo" Olsen was coach in Norway and Tor André Flo was on the peak of his carrer.
Having said that, he is from a village which is extremely remote from civilization, it´s called "bergen" and is Scandinavia´s equivalent to "Twin Peaks".
@jonasHM @jonasHM Thnx for the correction. But if you say that you have a good team every 60 yrs then you must start checking from 1998. That squad, in my opinion was the best Norwegian team in recent memory. They beat Brazil 2-1 in their Group A encounter, coming from behind and ultimately edged out the Moroccans who whipped the Scots 3-0 in vain, for a place in rd 2. So according to my calculations, their next WC appearance should be 2058. Hopefully It would be before that. 2014 perhaps?
Norway got bronze in wc in 1938:) im proud (= and drillo rules, or, not anymore, but he did, and norway have won more than just two good match, they beat england 2-1 on the 80'time, and they won over argentina and the goalkeepers Opdal and Myhre destroyed everything in the group play for coming to EC, and when drillo was trainer, we was the best home-team in Europe:D
@Pele724 Well, Norway won againt brazil in 1998 too, a year later. That is considered a bigger triumph than this match. And then you can check out Egil's comeback when Norway beat Germany in 2009. It was, however, a friendly match.
Viking Power!! Greetings to magnificent Norway from Sweden!
Obviously, Brazil and Argentina have way better football teams than Norway, but our way of playing football has proved very effective against Latin American teams. We have never ever lost against Brazil nor Argentina, and our only wins in the World Cups of 1994 and 1998 were against Latin American teams. European teams that are able to be fast, technical AND cynical at the same time (Italy for instance) we struggle way more to beat. Not to mention Eastern European teams.
@TheDragonforcenerd It would be more correct to say that they have beaten every opponent they've met (since there are a lot of football teams which thay haven't played against), except for Norway.
Actually all 3 teams NORWAY, MOROCCO & SCOTLAND needed to win. NORWAY however was in a more precarious position having needing to beat the World Champions to progress. Both MOROCCO & SCOTLAND needed to win and hoped BRAZIL did them a favor by beating NORWAY or at least drawing with them. The MOROCCANS did win emphatically against the SCOTS 3-0 only to find out later to their dismay that the NORWEGIANS had pulled off a dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind win with a mere 12 minutes to go in the match.
No. Brazil is better, and Norway have won on Brazil only once. The thing is that Brazil has never won over Norway, what is different. But, even so, Brazil was able to win 5 World Cups and 8 Continental Cups. *What I say in here, there is no intention to mistreat Norway, which I love. Norwegian people is VERY nice and the country seems to be perfect.
No we ain't and have never been better than Brazil.. BUT we are the ONLY team in the world to never have lost against them ;) 1-1 in 1988, 4-2 in '97, 2-1 in 98 and lastly 1-1 in 2006 or 2007.. I've stopped watching the Norwegian footballteam so I didn't care much about the date, tho I watched that game too :)
@nesossin Very true. Too bad Norways national team has sunk to the bottom in later years.. If we only had built upon what we had then, which was world class, we would probably do much better in present time as well.
I read in somewhere that one of the contributing factors for the Brazilian team losing this match to their Norwegian counterparts was that the previous night they were up very late in their hotel room watching porn films. LOL. I swore I saw that in a paper. Of course I'm subject to correction. With that said though, the Norwegian team always has a history of upsetting the BIG GUNS. At the 1936 Olympics in Berlin they also defeated the Germans for bronze (in front of Hitler).
@senorsalazar It's true that Norway beat Germany in front of Hitler, but that actually happened in the quarter final. Norway then lost for Italy (after extra time) in the semi and beat Poland for the bronze. ;) Seems like we have a good team every 60 years. I can't wait for the World Cup in 2050.
Norway is a very bad football country, in most senses, but with very high expectations. Now that the old manager "Drillo" is back, the world will again be astonished by what poor technical talent but good physics and great intelligence can accomplish.
If they were the best team in scandinavia thats debatable. During the time when norway was on the rise, denmark also managed to qualify to major competitions, and they managed to mantain a level of consistency in the renewal of the players since the laudrup years in the 80s. So ill have to opt for denmark. Plus, they won the euro in ´92
@nicklasbraemhoej Handball, no! Show some sources! You do know that Norwegian is a language that evolved from danish.... BUT we made it LESS GAY than danish! AKA... denmark is gay...
the problem with norway is the absence of a charismatic coach and the absence of a core of 5-6 great players to hold the team together. But i think the coach factor is crucial. What happened to norway is what i fear is going to happen to the team of my country (portugal). Great players go away and there arent good replacements. Right now we dont have left defenders and we only have one striker.
It´s true but the 2 times Brazil lost to Norway:1(this 1) Norway had their best side ever and were playing at home with not a good pitch. Where Brazil was playing in a too friendly way, maybe saving themselves to play in the Tornoi de France that was on the following days. The 2nd: 1 year later in France WC 98: Brazil was already qualified and was playing with some subs. Norway had to win at all costs while the other team that could qualify(Morocco) only needed a draw I think.
Yes, I know. I am Brazilian. It was a mistake by myself. 2 victorys over Brazil. The other matches were draws.... Actually, to win on friendlys or in the last match in a group phase when Brazil was already classified is not a big deal. Brazil has already lost to Bolivia, Thaiti, Australia, Iceland... I am just saying it's not a big deal, it's not enough to say Norway is better than Brazil.
A very good team.. Technically sound and very elegant... Norway
They are one of the best teams ever, but Norway was almost unbeatable in the 90's. ELSKER NORGE FOR ALLTID
It is always fun to watch any Norway-Brazil match.
beatiful goals and shocking result, in '98 Norway would confirm their ability to defeat Brazil
Having said that, he is from a village which is extremely remote from civilization, it´s called "bergen" and is Scandinavia´s equivalent to "Twin Peaks".
Mark: not the only team that has won against Brazil, the only team in the world that has not lost against Brazil!
Yes that's True! 🇳🇴💪
But now it's not the only Country, Senegal also never lost against Brazil! (1-1) 🇧🇷🇸🇳
Did Brazil play with ANY central defenders in this match?
De to første målene er jo bare vakkert!
I love the way Norway's direct style totally exposes the football 'purists' of Brazil!! Ostenstad's goal is a case in point!

første og siste fotballkamp jeg har sett. :D
Haha, that first Norwegian goal had a Brazilian touch.

i was so proud at that moment
@Pele724 He's basically saying how he's very satisfied with the Norwegian team and how Norway was way better than Brazil tactically.

Yes. But what has happened to norwegian fooball? You were by far the best team in Scandinavia.
Thumbs up for Drillo!
No. Brazil is better, and Norway have won on Brazil only once. The thing is that Brazil has never won over Norway, what is different. But, even so, Brazil was able to win 5 World Cups and 8 Continental Cups.

Skandinavien är kungar på Fotboll. Riktigt nice norge
@nesossin Very true. Too bad Norways national team has sunk to the bottom in later years..
If we only had built upon what we had then, which was world class, we would probably do much better in present time as well.
In later years. Who'd think they'd sink as low as they did in 2017?
Sangofe Sango lmao we are like 52
Not saying Norway didn´t deserve it. Actually they did. They had great results during those years.
Drillo is back! :D
That will not repeat again for Noway. 😏
They beat them again in the world cup the year after lol
It did a year after... in the World Cup... So suck it...
I read in somewhere that one of the contributing factors for the Brazilian team losing this match to their Norwegian counterparts was that the previous night they were up very late in their hotel room watching porn films. Norway is Brazils kryptonite.
Dæven! Takk!!!
Var på denne kampen!
Flonaldo!
Norway have never lost to Brazil ^^
Flondaldo!!!!
back when norway was 2nd on FIFA standings...
that was a long time ago now norway sucks that was when norway really did fight !
@senorsalazar It's true that Norway beat Germany in front of Hitler, but that actually happened in the quarter final. Norway then lost for Italy (after extra time) in the semi and beat Poland for the bronze. ;)
Seems like we have a good team every 60 years. I can't wait for the World Cup in 2050.
Brazil have won over all football countries without Norway!

yeah, norway is the only team that has ever beaten brazil:)

Norway is a very bad football country, in most senses, but with very high expectations. Now that the old manager "Drillo" is back, the world will again be astonished by what poor technical talent but good physics and great intelligence can accomplish.

@nicklasbraemhoej Handball, no! Show some sources!

Yeah right,Bergen is a nice city, but not the most beautiful city in Norway..;)
KOLLEKTIVT!! haha Drillo :')

HA!, Deam, We are so much betther then braz!
Norges beste fotball kamp noen sine
The Norwegian team suck now :P
The team that beat brazil is merely any of those players left in.
0:06 brasilianerne ble overrunka
@nicklasbraemhoej Of course you couldn't. Soccer is a tactical game. What you call to "kill" soccer is tactic. Which makes it beautiful. Nub.
enig
Sverige-Norge vore kul i Sydafrika 2010
Nos vingaremos no Brasil em 2014.. Muha ha ha ha!!
