ALR is the best guitarist walking the earth right now. No one compares. He puts so much emotion into his solos, and his whammy bar techniques and scale runs are unbeatable. Saw KD in Chicago November '15, best concert I've ever been to in my damn life! Was in awe the whole time! Mike Wead was an excellent complement to the band, and the bassist and drummer were thundering the building!
Kane Roberts, never heard of him until now. Insanely good solosmith! I started listening to La Rocque since '96 and when I heard the solo's for "The Trail -Chamber Ardente" I was seized by a sudden strong chill as my blood froze over and then melted again. Long live Andy "The Rock" La Rocque!!
Been an Andy fan since Fatal Portrait BUT ; Kane croons harder, poses more intensely, uses more hair spray, flexes his muscles more and probably pulls more ass. ....I guess that makes him better. : )
Hahaha funny comments lol. But yeah Andy La Roque is not only better than kane. He’s the best ever... is not aleays about the speed o complicated chores that you’re able to make. Is about the feeling and the signature of your chords that makes you a Legend !. For example, David Gilmore
All one needs to do is hear how effortlessly Andy plays the notes better in Sleepless Nights vs the previous playing. Kane is good, but his playing doesn't sound as effortless as Andy makes his notes sound. Kane's playing sounds very deliberate...
HAHA!! This so awesome! I can't believe someone put this guitar battle together Two of the most obscure yet two of my favorite guitar players of all time. I saw Kane Roberts with Cooper on the Raise Your Fist and Yell tour and just love him. Sadly Almost no one knows he exists. Andy is hands down the better of the two. There's really no question, but Kane is an extremely tasty guitarist. Constrictor Album is his best work IMO. Andy La Roque should be on the top of every guitar lovers list but again, few know of him outside of the metal world. More well know than Kane for sure. This is great to get these two guys out there some more!!!
There's a Magic in these notes when Andy sligtly touch the strings mysteriously so melodic and at the same time so deep "penetrate to my brain" (Oscar)
As a lifelong King and Andy fan, it's very easy to see why this comparison was made. Their styles are quite similar...In fact, an instrumental guitar album collaboration between them would be a very interesting indeed!
"Hands-down, Kane Roberts was the most gifted and underrated guitarist I ever produced." -Michael Wagener (Who worked with a HELL of a lot of brilliant guitarists, might I add - from George Lynch and Zakk Wylde to Wolf Hoffmann) I love Andy Larocque. But these King Diamond fanboys are REALLY selling Kane Roberts short. Some of these shreddy solos, he performed WITHOUT A PICK.
Did he ever created music like Andy??Abigail-Them-Conspiracy,those are masterpieces..He may be a good shredder, but can he create music??Like Andy??Andy gave us unforgetable guitar parts..literally you cannot forget most of his solos..Now listen to "Kane"s music or solos...1 hour later...you wouldnt remember a thing...!!!!
@@2Times22 Kane Roberts created Raise Your Fist And Yell, one of the greatest albums from Alice Cooper (and btw without Alice Cooper there would be no King Diamond), so the answer to your question is yes
No contest. Kane is very good, but Andy is among the best and probably in the running for THE best in metal. On par with Kirk, Marty, and Dimebag. Check out King Diamond's Into the Convent, Lies, and The Ritual if there is any doubt. Who else is capable of that dark beauty? Nobody, that's who.
At this point in time there's thousands upon thousands of brilliant guitarists who aren't in the industry or at least not in the spotlight that could hold the title of "best". I love metal but for God's sake go watch a master level flamenco player, a bluegrass monster or any number of eight finger wonders and suddenly the line of technical ability gets towed out into no man's land. As far as tasty licks and songwriting chops go, consider how many independent artists are only releasing their music via Soundcloud and Bandcamp. There's literally thousands upon thousands of hidden gems that if given exposure could be the next monumental thing.
@@Mad_Axe_Man125 i respect your opinion, but Andy Larocque for some is the principal guitar and composer from King Diamond and the member Who more years play in the band. Cheers bro.
If you're going to show off Andy's chops don't start with a Pete Blakk solo. The first part of the Sleepness Nights solo is Pete Blakk's. The second, more melodic part is Andy's.
How is this even presented as a serious comparison? Andy La Rocque is a vastly superior guitarist. This would the equivalent of comparing Bobby Jarzombek's drumming to that of Luis Cardenas.
I love the Alice Cooper stuff from Raise your first and yell especially with Kane, and I don't like all of King Diamonds stuff, but I've always been a fan of Andy's playing. These are two guitarists, along with Pete Blakk that i could never play like. Kane has a very unique style which is good, but I don't care much for it, it sounds a bit to mechanical for me for lack of a better term. I like Andy's choices of notes and scales and use of the whammy bar. Everyone gives Brad Gillis credit for that style, I don't know who actually used it first, but I just like Andy's stuff.
this is a good match up but I think Andy plays more technically and cleanly than Kane. I love them both...check out my covers of both Prince of Darkness and Welcome Home.
The first solo from Sleepless Nights you used isn’t even Andy lol. It’s Pete Black. King Diamond has always had two lead guitar players sharing solos. It was easier back in the day to distinguish who was who since it specified in the CD pamphlets
I don't think they could be compared. Kane is a "commercial success" created by big label records (just like Alice Cooper and everybody that surrounded him), whereas Larocque is a heavy metal genius from Sweden. Kane Roberts has a very commercial, run-of-the-mill style whereas Andy lives on the edge. When it comes to technique I don't think Kane can hold a candle to Andy's solos. Also, the two solos (one from Sleepless Nighs and the other from Welcome home) are not played by Larocque.but Pete Blakk or maybe I'm terrible wrong here.
Thw first solo in Sleepless Nights was Pete Blakk and the second was Andy. The Welcome Home solo wasnt Pete, that was Andy. Second solo in the song. First solo is Pete but the uploader didnt put that one in
