Love it! I am an atheist but I pray with Teffilin 6 days a week. Yea I know that idea of an observant Jew who is an atheist is odd. I really enjoy praying in Hebrew with teffilin and tallit. It brings me peace. I am in awe that I am doing the same basic thing that Jews were doing 2000 years ago. Sure my prayers my be a bit different since I use a Reform Suddur. But I am still praying in Hebrew like my ancestors did centuries ago. I am so glad that I became observant. I appreciate you showing what you are doing and explaining things. Considering this practice proceeds your religion by 2000 years, I'd say your Black Box in Mecca is just a copy of our tefillin. Why is it your people don't eat pork? Because we don't, and your religion attempts to copy our practices.
Hello! I want to ask you: is is it acceptable to pray without a book, like by learning everything by heart and just praying without looking in the book? And can you read prayers with your eyes closed, or do they need to be always open?
Disclaimer: I am not a rabbi, and I didn't check in any book for my answer. This is my personal opinion, as someone who prays daily. Before there were printed siddurs, there were a few copied siddurs, so most people had to pray without one. Today, there is no shortage, but you can still pray without a siddur if you know the prayer well enough. If you pray without a siddur, it's best to close your eyes, so you can concentrate better.
