Testing the Catchmaster Rodent Trap

  • We bought this Catchmaster trap from a "Big-Box" store in town to give it a try with the rodents in the garden shed this year. It looks great, is easy to work with and the price was right but I think it's too un-natural for the critters around here. It will be left in place for the rest of the summer to keep trying but I don't expect much.

Those pads are a universal pad for the multi trap that lays flat on the ground or another trap that you fold the sticky inside. Knowing the trap you have and how you use it is a very important part of making videos and writing reviews. I'm glad you made the video but hopefully didn't give a bad review

CatchMasters are great traps if you know what you're doing. Wear gloves to keep human scent off, and leave it alone for about a week to allow rodents to become familiar with it.

You got to put somthing more appetizing in there. I put a chicken nugget in there and caught 5 in one night. I got barn cats that have gotten lazy. Over the years. They reek havoc on equipment wiring.

I've had two of these for about 18yrs and have had much success. I've caught up to 8 mice overnight in my barn without any bait. Just up against a wall, where they travel, feeling with their whiskers. I have also baited with peanut butter, set them in the middle of a stall or in the tack room and that works great too.

Someone told me that I put mine together wrong, it happens. Nice to hear you've had such success with yours! Thanks for watching!

Great video, great narrative, and very informative, but yes, reading the directions always helps LOL. When you fold the glue board, the glue is supposed to be on the inside. I have used this trap before, and it worked for me, but I was using it indoors and I used Doritos as bait. I suppose it depends on whether you place it indoors or Outdoors, and whatever type of beat you might use.

Lol, Doritos as bait would work!

That glue trap is folded wrong backward.
Plus all you need is cut that glue sheet in size just place it flat inside with a tiny bit of peanut butter in a small bottle cap and place it in the middle of the sticky paper to attract the rodents.

Thanks for the tips, I totally screwed up this trap but it's good to know if I get another one!

The glue sheet is just an extra you dont have to use.

If you are using the live mouse trap glue board you don’t need to fold it

I've always preferred the good old fashion with peanut butter, they rarely miss.

These have always worked for me!
The frustrating point is they stopped making/selling the corner version that takes up so little space (& is hidden under the cupboard overhangs) in North America! Someone that makes these has to start building them again, their importing them individually from China for $100 a pop with shipping & their making a killing!

That's a crazy price! I've got a little electric zapper version now that works pretty well, pretty sure we left this ol' trap behind when we moved ...
      Thanks for watching!

JT Bear I Was just joking.. Hey! I bought one today and caught a mouse tonight. I had wireless video cam setup to watch. First bait was a chick pea and cereal. Mouse didn't try very hard to get in. Next i tried a small dab of peanut butter right between the trap doors. Bingo! Mouse was very motivated and excited to get in there! Caught him and drove him out to country and let him go.

The glue traps we have said to fold the glued side to the inside. What does your glue board instructions say?

  • @JTBear
    @JTBear  11 років тому +1

Ours have NO respect for the old fashioned kind. We've even glued the bait on, only to find it triggered and empty the next day. The peanut butter thing though, get's 'em every time .... Thanks for watching!

I just got this. How traumatic... Lol. Caught what had to have been a toddler mouse. We don't have rats in my apartment building. Just mice. Rats are much bigger. But I had to bash a toddlers brains in with the solid end of an older screwdriver. Since I stripped that one and got a new one, that's what I used. But I couldn't just put the poor little fucker in the garbage, ALIVE!! Lol. No more glueboards. Snap traps are nauseating. I'll just do live catch? Lol

I recently got a newer one that zaps them once they get inside. No more having to kill them myself and I know that when they die it's quick & painless! :-)
