Holy sheet , lol. You watched the movie! lol. Well,.. but,.. but,.. Gaiden was first T_T lol , anyway, about your question in 28:02 I think she is one of the two girls that rejected Benedict's lunch invitation in the TV series' episode 01. IIRC.
The fact that all 36 victims of the arson attack are included in the end credits as a tribute whether they'd worked on this movie or not makes this movie even more poignant and heartbreaking Their lives live on in the art they've left behind
OMG never new abiut the fire. Now I have to watch this again so I can cry even harder ar tbe end! I love this series and this movie. I honestly feel that this is the best written series of all time.
Violet Evergarden is one of those anime that still hits hard every time I watch it. It was the first non shonen anime I watched and made me realize i was missing out on a lot of good anime.
This is the only anime and the only production ever made that made me so emotional. Since I was a child, I rarely had occasion to cry, and when I did, it was small tears. And thanks to "Violet Evergarden" I experienced real crying for the first time. Tears welled up in my eyes and I literally howled into my pillow so that no one in the house would hear. Now that I'm 23 years old and I'm watching it again, these emotions come back, not as strong but still huge. And I'm not ashamed of it. I'm a man but I'm not ashamed of it, I'm actually grateful that I could experience these emotions.
For me its: - I want to eat your pancreas - A Place Further than the Universe ep 12 - Violet Evergarden ep 10 / movie - Angel Beats - Clannad Afterstory - A Silent Voice - Grave of the Fireflies There are other anime that made me tear up, but these are the ones that actually made me cry.
The show feels like receiving letters from a person you’ve never met. Whether that be a pen pal, cousin, or even a lost parent, you feel as lucky as you’re heartbroken knowing these letters would stop coming some day. From the many questions you wanted to ask, from the why’s to the what’s, even if continents apart, that feeling is still there. From what felt like years, the sender sends their final letter specifically for you. Telling their feelings, even their future, by the time you finish reading, those words, oh how you’ll miss them so where you grow bitter at the writer. But until that feeling comes as it goes, you read the final words, “Sincerely, I love you.” As what was tears of missing them, those tears become tears of joy as you’re happy for them. Years past, people forget, but even with those final words, you’ll be reminded of their letter, their words, where even if you’ll miss it, you smile, like you and the writer, you move on, you live on. As much as I hate knowing this is the final chapter of this person’s story, I’m happy that she was able to find her happy ending. Like any form of media, literary device, like a letter, I’ll sometimes go back and reread their moments of their life just to remember them, that’s Violet Evergarden. “Sincerely, I love you.”
As someone who watched the series years ago, I was in a unhealthy part of my life. Even if I wasn’t able recuperate my emotions during that time, I’ll never forget the visions, dreams, and ambitions this show has given me. From growing attached to the series, I sometimes dread rewatching it thinking that the same kind of wonder, rush of emotions are different due to my age now. But I was mistaken, nothing has changed, these ambitions, dreams, even fears never grew out of me watching this series. Now finally being able to watch the movie, it felt like losing a part of me, a part of my life and I’m not even mad. This movie closed that part of me, and instead of questions like the series, the movie finally gave me answers. I’ll miss this show, I’ll miss Violet, but even with this feeling, Daisy’s letter, Gilbert, Iris, Ann, Charlotte, Claudia, all of these people, even Violet as much as I am sad to say goodbye, I am happy, I am happy for them, and for the first time in a while, I am happy for past me.
I'm really glad you enjoyed this series. Another one that is fantastic if no one has suggest it is "A place further than the Universe" I think you would really, really love it.
I remember when a certain episode of Yorimoi aired on the same week as Violet Evergarden ep 10 and that was the most I've cried in a week in several years.
I'm so happy for you Alana. I definitely cried with you... I've watched this movie so many times, and it just hurts so good. Seeing you say "This is like... everything I wanted, ok?" made me smile so big, because I felt the exact same way at the end. I'm sure that others have mentioned this, but this is the production that KyoAni was working on when the arson set fire to their main studio, killing over 30 people... many were on the production staff for this movie. The fact that they were still able to pick up the pieces and deliver such a breathtaking conclusion still makes me realize that while human life is fleeting... what we create and put out into the world is everlasting.
It really hit me in the feels when I realized that the whole VE series was a story being told by Ann's grand daughter, and all of them are gone already. Emotional damage!
I absolutely loved your reaction 😭 I love Violet Evergarden, and ever since the first episode I was so excited to see the rest of your reactions. I’m so happy you loved it as well 😭
the part where the little brother goes up to his big brother, not realizing hes gone, that just broke me. also, i looooove the symbolism of the ticking of the second hand clock in sync with violets footsteps at the end. its like its saying a sort of underlining theme where she goes along with the changing times. she is a part of the worlds changes and doesnt fight it but moves along with it. we see it in the other movie where radio towers are being built and here where mailing is becoming a bit more obsolete. change is a natural part of the world, and she knows it and goes with it. idk why but to me that was so beautiful.
These reactions to this series have been fantastic, Amazing job and what a Journey its been watching someone else go through the emotions that so many of us have already. Its been truly wonderful to watch. And Violet Evergarden will forever be such a beautiful story from start to finish. So glad that you ended up watching this series.
I find Claudio's role in this movie to be very interesting as well. I felt like it many ways Claudio sees himself in Gilbert, at least the same emotional turmoil he went through. But while Claudio had an outlet to heal from that pain, Gilbert stayed locked away in it.
This movie wrecked me. The series wrecked me. Watching your reaction video wrecked me all over again. In the field of artistic endeavour (not just anime) this is a masterpiece. Art is supposed to draw out emotions and this provokes so many with the story, the character design and development, the beauty of the artwork and the amazing animation.
This movie actually surprised me a lot. I watched Violet Evergarden when it debuted in Netflix in early 2018 and I really thought the whole point of the series was for Violet to accept her loved one died and she should move on with life regardless. @@SwordTune No, that wasn't the point. Violet always believed that Gilbert never died in the first place, she never "accepted" that Gilbert died. @@zelto3595 The show had closure without the final movie, and it doesn't make it better. I understand that some people like it, but to do so overlooks the narrative and thematic flaws. There are a few things you have to understand about VE to understand the criticism for this movie. Firstly, it was not merely about Violet learning what "I love you" means. That's the surface text. The subtext is that she lacked empathy and never even considered the consequences of her actions on other people. She has to come to terms with her survivor guilt and the guilt of taking human life. Losing a loved one of her own is the catalyst for that change. Secondly, Violet's grief is punctuated by uncertainty. Since there was no body, Violet has to grapple with a choice of becoming her own person or being tied to the idea of Major Gilbert. When death is certain, that choice is no longer available and it takes agency away from the character. What makes Violet's growth so empowering is that she chooses to move forward with it once she is reminded of her new life by her friends. Yes, she says she believes Gilbert is out there, but that is reflective of the pain that lingers when a death is uncertain: there's no definite closure, and that is the point. It's painful and hard to move forward with that uncertainty but that is why it must be done. Gilbert returning, not to mention the mischaracterization of their relationship as anything other than father-daughter, absolutely weakens the themes and narrative of the series as a whole.

Just cause shes not there doesnt mean they never see each other again She stopped working as a doll but you think they never visited Liden for fun? or went on vacations? lol
As soon as they opened up with Anne from ep. 10's granddaughter, I knew this was going to be a ride. It's so well done, and I wasn't disappointed with the ending, violent ended up right where she deserved to be. It's interesting to see different translations of the same material. In the version I watched, Gilbert said "I won't see her" instead of "I can't see her" when Hodgins confronts him. It seems like a small difference, but it actually conveys an entirely different emotion.
You know, after watching Violet Evergarden in October, 2020; I waited to see this movie for more than 8 months, checking my torrent server in a regular basis. But, at last when I watched this movie in May, 2021; it was worth my wait. It was one of the best movies (Specifically the sequel) I had seen in my life, and watching it, along with the series was one of the instances for which I am greatful for my life, because who knew if I hadn't seen the series and the movie then, I would've missed an absolute gem of Anime. So, thank you for your heartfelt reaction to this movie, along with the series as well. And also, if you want to watch quite similar kind of anime with beautiful yet emotional story, then I would recommend watching: 1. Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai (English Name: I Want To Eat Your Pancreas) (2018) & 2. Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms (2018). Hopefully, you would react to these movies in the future.
As a dude who loves shounen animes that have fighting, adventure, suspense, comedy in it... animes like Your Lie in April and Violet Evergarden are the few animes I consider Masterpieces that are absolutely not my taste in anime, but you can't help be in awe and be struck by the quality content, the direction, the feels, the music, the tone, the characters, the flow of the plot, etc. Everytime i think of these 2 specific animes, I think of the "goodness" in "humanity" and how as we grow up, are views of life darken and we see the world of how it is, where when you were younger, everything seemed brighter. Basically, these 2 series made me appreciate life more and that you should cherish those around you bc we are only here for a finite amount of time.
The first movie to ever make me cry within the first 8 minutes and also the only one to do so in the beginning, middle, and end. Straight tears every time.
Thank you for watching this series. Violet is so special and it warms my heart to see a fellow emotional person leak the sad juice from our eyes together. T w T❤
10:52 THE DELAYED REACTION OMG THAT WAS PRICELESS Also my sister and I watched this recently--doesn't matter what anyone's opinions are about the movie, we both were UGLY CRYING by the end, our mother was concerned lol
It has received a mostly positive response. It is second in the movie ratings on MAL, the first being "A Silent Voice". Most of the negative responses are from LN readers because KyoAni changed the story
I don't know if there is already an anime to replace Violet Evergarden, but I will recommend Sangatsu No Lion (March Comes Like a Lion). There are practically no videos of people reacting to this anime and it is very precious and unfortunately underrated.
as i was scrolling through ur channel i saw Violet Evergardennn and i figured it might be nice to rewatch my favorite drama/romance anime then watch your reactions. It indeed was a rollercoaster of emotions❤
This is still my favorite series of all time. I could nerd out about this show for hours about all sorts of topics. My #1 OST as well, it is just one of a kind. Love seeing people give it a watch all this time later, I feel so old thinking about how many years its been since I saw the TV series... even the movie is a few years old now. I ugly cried so unbelievably hard the entire movie. It was a long few years anticipating each release, just building up the excitement and attachment all that time. Maybe Demon Slayer will be the next show that makes me feel anywhere close to how VE did. Such a good reaction, thank you!!
You do realize that in the modern day scenes, Daisy is that little girls granddaughter. If that little girl grew up and died, then id be hard pressed to believe Violet lived an entire century.
Dear Alana Misako Thank you for your reaction to the theater version of Violet Evergarden. I was also crying all the time after seeing Violet for the first time in a long time. Violet Evergarden the Movie did not get much attention in Japan because it was released at the same time as Demon Slayer the Movie, but I love anime, so I went to see both Violet Evergarden and Demon Slayer. In my personal opinion, the theatrical version of Demon slayer was good, but I prefer the theatrical version of Violet Evergarden. So I hope that people who saw Alana Misako's reaction video will like the film Violet Evergarden. Thank you very much for your reaction. From your fan.
Did you already watch the 2019 movie "Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll"? The 2019 movie takes place after the series, but before the 2020 movie.
In her previous video she mentioned in a pinned comment that she wasn't aware of the other movie, but after recording this reqction she found out and watched it. That reaction will come later.
@@killuazoldyck4742 The 2020 movie was much better since it provides a fitting end to the series. The 2019 movie was still good, but it felt more like a side story that could be watched out of order.
I Simply happy knowing that Violet can be the Happiest she can be Edit: A side note the other Movie has a what I call the Limited Edition Twin Tail Violet and the If Violet was a man... He's the man that I 100% fall for.... And a I full on dude
I was hoping they sped up the pacing for more screentime on dwelling into Gilbert’s guilt towards Violet and war trauma. It felt like I made myself understand his situation rather than the show illustrated it and convince me. Also I’m on the side that glad this movie exist. Something about how Violet still appear hopeful about Gilbert being alive in the series finale tells me that “Violet accepting and move on” is not the end, therefore I’m happy for her instead of hating the movie. Finally, I love how they tied in the invention of telephone. It really makes Violet’s choice of managing a post office on a remote island that won’t see telephones a common place for a long long time a way for her to keep being a Doll despite the changing time, instead of a “quitting once’s job for love” kinda situation. Overall, I enjoyed this movie and I’m glad you felt the same.
I binge watch the entire series + the OVA + the movie, at the end I cry out loud while yelling 'thank god' in 3 different languages. Also, if you're into rom-com I highly sugest "Wotakoi: love is hard for otaku". Although the comedy is Japan and otaku culture specific, it's still fun to watch.
I LOVE Violet Evergarden. The movie had wonderful closure but after I finished it I had a hard time finding the next best thing because nothing can beat how beautiful Violet Evergarden was for me. I did however, find an anime that matched its beauty in its own individual way. That would be Fruits Basket. What a wonderful story and I seriously recommend it if you haven't heard or watched it yet. ❤😊
I watched to show and It was amazing but I felt empty after. I felt it's not the proper ending. I was so happy when I saw there is a movie and the ending was everything I hoped for. I'm not afraid to admit I cried 😅 The movie made the series perfect.
I don't like the decision to make Gilbert still be alive simply because of how far the main series went to make it clear that he could not have survived. He was too weak and wounded to move and the spot where we left him was destroyed by artillery fire. That's death. Once I move past that one thing this movie is a masterpiece of character development, world building, and emotional payoffs we never knew we needed. Seeing the granddaughter of her 50 letter recipient, seeing a postage stamp dedicated to her, seeing her relationship and feelings with the major laid bare, even showing how far she went to be there in the major's place with things like the flowers she left at his mother's grave. I know every move before it happens, but I still cry my eyes out.
First let me say that I don't understand English. Violet Evergarden has two movies. In order, Violet Evergarden I: Eternity And The Auto Memory Doll, Violet Evergarden theatrical version.
Easily the most beautiful anime I’ve ever seen and probably the best anime movie I’ve ever seen along with I Want To Eat Your Pancreas which I highly recommend but it will get you in your feels Def would love to see you react to I Want To Eat Your Pancreas
Im very mixed on the movie. I didnt like Gilbert being alive and them being together in the end didnt sit right. But goddamn the scene where Yuris dies had me sobbing. I cant remember any piece of media making me sob besides for that. Ive almost cried at things but this was a bullet train to the gut.
I would like to say to those who feel that the reunion of the two is not good, if what Violet got and learned before is only lost because of meeting the person she loves most, then what she learned is shit.
I wish she learned to appreciate everyone else who loved her after Gilbert more. I’m glad they reunited, just wish it was handled differently. I suspect it was especially “final” because of the arson.
Well, maybe I'm alone on this, but I always didn't really feel comfortable with the ending, with their ending. I can enjoy romance in a media, when it is deserved. My problem is, I don't really think the Major did deserve it. At least not that easy. I simply can't see him as a good person per se, let alone how he even treats her now. I also never really got what him saying "I love you" to her when must have been 12 or 13 really meant. Was it really romantic love, or more like a father? It just feels a bit creepy if it's the first one. But then he's saying he always wanted to do this when he hugs her. Really, to a underaged child soldier? Don't get me wrong, it's one of my absolute favorite shows ever, but this ending, I don't know... Though it's propably all Violet ever wanted.
I agree with you 😭 I always thought it was supposed to be a father- daughter type dynamic until I saw the movie. I wouldn't have been as against the romance if they didn't specifically tell us that violet is 14-15 They could have avoided this entirely just by making her an adult but nope 💀
No I'm definitely with you on this. I never thought of this relationship as romantic in any way but I guess it was. I heard that the source material (LN i think) has more interaction and dialogue and would have not made it as weird
He's a WW1 veteran who lost his eye and arm in war and is clearly stiff suffering PTSD, Violet loves him and wants to try and help him overcome his mental war injuries like others helped her. You sound like a pretty terrible human being. Violet is 18 at this point in the show, she can choose who she wants to be with
IMO I like the other movie more than this movie mainly because I feel like Gilbert should have stayed dead since that was the main point of Violet's development. Also the fact that he raised her and than turns romantic creeps me out.
OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE AHHHHHH

You know, after watching Violet Evergarden in October, 2020; I waited to see this movie for more than 8 months, checking my torrent server in a regular basis. But, at last when I watched this movie in May, 2021; it was worth my wait. It was one of the best movies (Specifically the sequel) I had seen in my life, and watching it, along with the series was one of the instances for which I am greatful for my life, because who knew if I hadn't seen the series and the movie then, I would've missed an absolute gem of Anime. So, thank you for your heartfelt reaction to this movie, along with the series as well. And also, if you want to watch quite similar kind of anime with beautiful yet emotional story, then I would recommend watching:
1. Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai (English Name: I Want To Eat Your Pancreas) (2018) &
this was a show that broke me over and over... yet i still didnt want it to end! XD
Most of the negative responses are from LN readers because KyoAni changed the story
never cried watching a movie or series once but then i started this series and im still crying to this day
I cried so much in this episode)) thnak you again for your reaction ❤️
I don't know if there is already an anime to replace Violet Evergarden, but I will recommend Sangatsu No Lion (March Comes Like a Lion). There are practically no videos of people reacting to this anime and it is very precious and unfortunately underrated.
March Comes in like a Lion is a masterpiece. It’s a shame so few people react to it.
as i was scrolling through ur channel i saw Violet Evergardennn and i figured it might be nice to rewatch my favorite drama/romance anime then watch your reactions. It indeed was a rollercoaster of emotions❤
I absolutely loved your reaction to this wonderful show!!
oh my god!!! It has been all the day and I was terrified that it will not be uploaded today! Thank you!!! I'm excited to see the reaction😍😍😍
ya i had some problems with copyright for this upload, thanks for ur patience though!! :D
@@AlanaMisako is there a chance we will still get to see the bunny girl movie?
@@AlanaMisako it's okay, I can wait as long as it needs😆
I like to think the guy who had the doll brooch was her grandson, and the brooch was an heirloom.
38:48 this is when Claudia becoming Zeke Yeagaah.. 😂😂😂
Me having seen the movie 3 times already: If Violet doesn't see Gilbert this girl will never recover.
by the way the city names are german words. For example "leidenschaftlich" the big main city is "passionate" in englisch.
I can say that this is the best emotional anime ❤
God bless you misako Chan 😭😭😭😭 thanks for this reaction I knew you would love it!! The movie completed the series beautifully
Dear Alana Misako
Thank you for your reaction to the theater version of Violet Evergarden.
I lowkey came to laugh at you crying (im sorry 😭) and now here I am crying along with you 😭😭
Did you already watch the 2019 movie "Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll"? The 2019 movie takes place after the series, but before the 2020 movie.
In her previous video she mentioned in a pinned comment that she wasn't aware of the other movie, but after recording this reqction she found out and watched it. That reaction will come later.
which is better? I haven't watched 2019 movie.
@@SwordTune oh gotcha, thanks for letting me know.
@@killuazoldyck4742 The 2020 movie was much better since it provides a fitting end to the series. The 2019 movie was still good, but it felt more like a side story that could be watched out of order.
There are no words for this.
Best part was watching your cat wonder why its hooman is crying for no reason. Aw well, atleast you had a cat to hold on to as you cried, unlike me.
This anime depleted my tear reserves for the next 10 years I think.
I Simply happy knowing that Violet can be the Happiest she can be
Edit: A side note the other Movie has a what I call the Limited Edition Twin Tail Violet and the If Violet was a man...
No wayyy thankyou violet evergarden about your story to the end of your life..
You should watch "Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll". It's the first VE movie and it's great.
There is also Violet Evergarden Gaiden, another beautiful movie of this beautiful series.
59:53 and 1:00:16 your cat is so precious! Also yes I cried too.
This anime is literally flawless, i felt so happy and sad and overwhelmed jeezz what a shitshow
Great reaction, love this movie
I binge watch the entire series + the OVA + the movie, at the end I cry out loud while yelling 'thank god' in 3 different languages.
Also, if you're into rom-com I highly sugest "Wotakoi: love is hard for otaku". Although the comedy is Japan and otaku culture specific, it's still fun to watch.
The show and movie are good exercises for when you haven't felt many strong emotions lately
Thank you so much for such great reactions ❤
I cried all over again 😭😭😭
I don't know why, but the opening scene in the future always makes me cry.
Its the way i cried again
We're not getting to see her watch the other movie? Where limited edition Violet with twin tails is
Your expression says it all.
It's a wonderful reaction(´;ω;`)
I had the same reaction. Love your reaction throughout the whole movie. Thought you were really cute BTW
This movie in a nutshell:
15:07
38:45
43:00
Alana woke up today and chose sadness
And this movie even sent people to the hospital
what is it with this show...no matter how many times i watch it, i am still bawling like a freaking baby every fxxking times ffs...T_T
I hope she also reacts to “I want to eat your pancreas” ❤️ love all of your reactions! ❤️
I was waiting for this reaction for a long time, This movie was just amazing and beautiful I cried like a bi**h 😢😢
1 minuite to midnight here, do I watch this reaction now or in the morning..... (WHY NOT BOTH XD)
I cried bro, I crode
So did you watch the first movie? I was literally in confuse.
She watched it after this one because she didn't know about the first movie.
@@SwordTune ok thanks
Im a grown man. No animated movie can me me cry !!!!
Later...
Ok i lost ..... trice......
First let me say that I don't understand English.
Violet Evergarden has two movies.
In order, Violet Evergarden I: Eternity And The Auto Memory Doll, Violet Evergarden theatrical version.
You know, Gilbert older brother VA is Uchiha Madara VA
Best best best anime.❤
Did she watch the first movie?
OMG AAAAAAAAA YAYYYY
thank you!
this anime
Easily the most beautiful anime I’ve ever seen and probably the best anime movie I’ve ever seen along with I Want To Eat Your Pancreas which I highly recommend but it will get you in your feels
Def would love to see you react to I Want To Eat Your Pancreas
I think you have another movie that you missed idk the title but you can search it bcs it's supposed to be watch before this movie
violet evergarden 2019
ヴァイオレットエバーガーデン外伝も是非観てみて下さい😊
Im very mixed on the movie. I didnt like Gilbert being alive and them being together in the end didnt sit right. But goddamn the scene where Yuris dies had me sobbing. I cant remember any piece of media making me sob besides for that. Ive almost cried at things but this was a bullet train to the gut.
I agree. It kind of undermines the whole series and the theme of Violet dealing with grief. As far as I’m concerned the movie is not canon.
Novel readers waiting for that second season
Is this movie Canon? I saw some people saying it's just a recap of the show so I never watched
This Movie is the final part of Violet Evergarden, set three years after episode 13 of the series.
I wouldn't have been as against the romance if they didn't specifically tell us that violet is 14-15
They could have avoided this entirely just by making her an adult but nope 💀
No I'm definitely with you on this. I never thought of this relationship as romantic in any way but I guess it was. I heard that the source material (LN i think) has more interaction and dialogue and would have not made it as weird
Yeah I hated that. Violet lost all individuality to revert to serving Gilbert. Such a horrible ending for her character.
He's a WW1 veteran who lost his eye and arm in war and is clearly stiff suffering PTSD, Violet loves him and wants to try and help him overcome his mental war injuries like others helped her.
You sound like a pretty terrible human being.
Violet is 18 at this point in the show, she can choose who she wants to be with
Ok who's cutting onions?
What about the other VIOLET EVERGARDEN MOVIE?
you miss one and jump the order? 2 movies ?
She is the grand dauther of the littel girl, sadly violet is not immortal she would be dead at this point
You skipped a movie. There's one more movie that is not related to the story but it's really good.
Get ready the pop-co.... Wait never mind..... Get ur paco of tissues readuy for this one 😢
👍👍👍👍👍
IMO I like the other movie more than this movie mainly because I feel like Gilbert should have stayed dead since that was the main point of Violet's development. Also the fact that he raised her and than turns romantic creeps me out.
