    Bring back SS South Steyne. She is a PROPER Manly Ferry. Steam powered and FAST and can ride out any beam sea when things get rough. Other ferries now gone included Baragoola, Curl Curl, Dee Why, North Head and many more.
    I remember one crossing in rough weather with a quite large beam sea coming through The Heads. The lower deck passengers would hear the sea breaking over the side of the ship. The water would flow across the lower deck and out the other side of the ferry. The newspaper readers would calmly lift their feet and let the water go through. That is style. Mike in Oz
