Awesome! We need more teachers like you with the “cautious continuationist” view. We should be cautious to live tethered to the scripture. But we should also be cautious to not “go beyond what is written”. 1 cor 4:6. Cessationists, i believe, go beyond what is written, because the scripture does not say any gifts have ceased. However, there is much too be cautious about in the charismatic/pentacostcal movement. They are not often not tethered to the scripture enough. And there is demonic deception going on too, which of course complicates things.

Thank you for all your videos. So much of the “Prophetic speak” we hear today is wrapped up in prosperity, name it & claim it, declare & decree that, as you pointed out, many begin to completely dismiss legitimate biblical prophecy. I think we should also remember that the Prophets of the Old Testament often brought messages from God that were not pleasant for the people to hear. The only prophetic message an individual has ever given me that was truly accurate was a woman who told me that our daughter would give us a great deal of grief and heartache, years of it. It was not good to hear. But she was right. And in my heart I felt the Holy Spirit agreeing with her as if to lovingly prepare me.

I commented below and thanked you for having the courage to share this. I also had a similar encounter with prophecy. I also agree that we need to test every spirit and am well aware of the abuses when it concerns prophecy etc. I absolutely cringe when ppl go the generalized prophecy route like back pain etc. What is your position on tongues as a prayer language? I prayed for it over 10 years ago and received this gift a year ago, to be honest before this experience I wasn’t sure if it was even real. Nobody prayed over me, it was during a time of spiritual warfare in my life. I prayed and asked God why this was happening to me. I felt something in my mouth and when I spoke it suddenly came out of me. An actual language not just gibberish. It edifies my prayer life and isn’t something for corporate worship. According to scripture I don’t think this gift is for everyone, and the Holy Spirit gives gifts as he wills. I also hate when churches over emphasize the gift of tongues and create division in the church by creating a theology of the haves and have nots. I was told for years that I didn’t have this gift because I lacked faith. This really saddens me, but on the other hand I’ve had ppl tell me I’m demon possessed and under false teaching. These comments have even come from ppl on your channel and a few others when I’ve tried to share about it. It seems like we tend to attack those who abuse the gifts of the spirit, but aren’t those(cessationists) who ignore them just as wrong? I just wanted your thoughts on it! Thanks and God bless.❤️

Yes - that took great courage, humility and obedience for Allen to step forward that day, and what a reward he has received and is still receiving.
Just for clarity, what was spoken in the powerful illustration in this video was a “word of knowledge.”
There are the gifts of: “word of knowledge,” “word of wisdom” and “prophecy.”
The speaker in this instance spoke a word of knowledge had “knowledge” about Allen and didn’t appear to speak any future “prophecy” for Allen’s life. He simply spoke what he saw that had transpired the night before and God’s response to Allen in his seeking forgiveness and the Lord being pleased to grant it..
The gifts were used interchangeably here (as in “beware of people telling you you’re about to get a job next week”) but the minister on this occasion solely spoke of the past and what he knew concerning Allen.
We can take comfort in recognizing the distinction in this gifts as the Holy Spirit gives us discernment in each gift.
A word of knowledge about us is - for lack of a better word - “easier” to discern and receive because it either applies specifically to us or it doesn’t, it either happened to us or it didn’t or it is true about our life situations or it isn't. But when we hear “words of prophecy,” this is about the future possibly concerning us, There is a higher and deeper level of faith (and obedience) required to receive and take by faith these prophetic words as for us, and to walk in them in their application to us. (This is seen in the Word in the form of prophets and angels coming and telling people “You will have a baby (Sarah/ Hannah/ Mary/ Zechariah et al)... you will do great exploits, .. you will go up and win this battle, (Jehoshaphat, Joshua,) you will go and do this and that.”) These words spoke of the future and the hearer had the option to act on them or not but they first had to take the words by faith before anything else to set the words in motion in the future.
It’s simple to debunk “words of prophecy” and “false prophets” in this regard since the words have not yet happened - and may not happen immediately or “soon” as we think of “soon” in our concept of “time”) but just because they don’t happen right away, it does not make the words any less true, the prophetic speakers any more “false” or “time” any less accurate. Many prophecies in the Scriptures took years to be fulfilled in people’s lives - and that still remains true in our lives - as there are appointed times for promises and fulfillment of the Word. We need to have a clearer understanding of the distinctions of these gifts, the implementation of our faith and the overarching role of the kairos timing of God, His seasons and times when understanding these gifts.

    • @noble604
      @noble604 2 роки тому

(Last thing for clarity.... for an example of a “word of wisdom,” this is found - along with a “word of knowledge” and “prophecy” - in the prophet Nathan’s word to King David after King David had Uriah killed after sleeping with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba, and impregnating her.)
Nathan spoke a “word of wisdom” over the circumstance in the parable, in which he spoke of the man and the ewe lamb. He then spoke what he knew about David and his prior act with Bathsheba. Then, Nathan foretold of future events in David’s reign as a result of this event. We see the breakdown of these three gifts in one in the word to David and we can further learn how these three gifts and types of words apply to the hearer.) Fyi
      Blessings

As someone who is disabled and mostly wheelchair bound I have heard too many false or yet to be fulfilled prophecies over my life. Im still praying for healing. A false prophet once tried to push me over at the altar, to “slay” me in the Spirit. The force he used confirmed in my heart that he was working in the flesh. Most would fall under that physical force without it being a miracle. But God was with those seeking Him and met them there though the preacher was false. The altar had become about the preacher and not about Jesus. I was bolstered by true prayer warriors who kept me standing while the preacher was pressing his thumb to my brow to try to make me fall. He tried to the point he was frustrated and made comments about me and went on to the next person. I dropped to the ground, ashamed. I started to see the storm around me instead of realizing Jesus had held me up temporarily and I wasted that opportunity to be used to correct the scene. I just became part of the blubbering dissatisfied on the ground. I do see now that God is still with His people even while they are mislead. The misleading is on the false leaders to some degree. I am still disabled but another time years later I was prayed over by a person who was seeking to give God the Glory and I received gains of strength for a year and a half before a time of great difficulty and survived that tragedy in part because of the gains of strength. I have deteriorated since then and feel it is because I started to waste my strength on worldly pursuits. Maybe not, maybe so. Now I am alive past the time the drs had prognosticated and am grateful to be alive. I am either going to be healed or not but whichever way helps my walk or roll is best and is up to Him. I am not a cessationist and regret times of speaking doubt about what The Holy Spirit does. Its really been more of being jaded against false people and at times false me than ever truly thinking The Holy Spirit to be false. Jesus is Lord and His Spirit is True.

God bless you Garrett. It frustrates me when people try to use disabled people as a tool for selfish gain under the disguise of prophecy. I'm sorry that's been your experience and I hope you're doing much better now.
God is faithful and your disability brings no shame to the Kingdom or the message that we preach about Christ, rather it further elevates it, because just like Paul being in chains for the sake of the gospel and still holding on, you continue to place your trust in Jesus even when others would tell you to curse Him.

Brother Allen, thank you for sharing. God knows what we need to hear, I know we have his word but sometimes he uses people. A few years back I was going through the valley as God was refining me (long story). It was a Wednesday night and we were having an evangelist speak at our church. At the end of his message he starts calling specific people out of the congregation to pray for them. I go up to the alter, wanting God to speak to me through this man. I needed to know God was listening to my cry’s. The evangelist kept passing me up, choosing the person to the right of me or to the left. Discouraged, I went back to my seat. After a few minutes my mom came over and said let’s go back to the alter (she knew what I was going through). I agreed and this time the evangelist stopped in front of me and was about to lay his hand on me to pray but then he stopped and pulled me close and hugged me, the kind of hug that a father would give and he whispered in my ear “the victory is in your praise” several times. I broke, you see earlier in the day at my apartment, where no one could see I was in tears feeling discouraged with everything I was going through and I told the Lord how much I wish He would appear and just hold me in a hug, like a father! He did through this evangelist.
The words “the victory is in the praise” reminded me that in the middle of my struggle I was to Praise the Lord because this was a demonstration of trusting him regardless of the storm I was in. It’s what I needed at that moment in my life! God bless you!

    • @nakeyaoverton
      @nakeyaoverton 2 роки тому +3

@@RageBaby587 hi friend. Actually this was prophetic flowing out of a word of knowledge. Sometimes the prophetic expression can be from a vision, word, dream, sense, audible voice of the Lord, etc. Prophecy doesn’t only foretell the future (if that were true then fortune tellers would be considered to be prophesying, but we know they are not; I believe God specifically placed a distinction on the prophetic for this reason)
Prophetic utterances exposes God’s heart for a situation, people, nation, etc, uncovers what is hidden (as in this case), it discerns times and seasons, gives strategy with the goal of salvation, deliverance and redemption, releases things through natural materials (Elijah)
A prophet does all these things as well, among a couple other functions. The first mention of a prophet is Abraham (genesis), and we see God calling him a prophet in order for him to pray for a king under God’s judgment.
Abraham also discerned to give a tithe to Melchizedek, establishing the actual amount to be given (10%). Im still studying out tithing in genesis and Malachi, but it seems that’s Abraham gave the tithe in honor to King Melchizedek right before it was time for him to face the opposing kings

Several years ago...I saw what looked like a hand out stretched in the clouds and heard that I am in the palm of His hands. The next day I went to this church service that openly admits to performing prohectic words and the guy spoke over me and he said "God has you in the palms of hands." He didnt know what I saw in the clouds and how I felt about the cloud. It was eye-opening. And someone else, also several years ago, told me God sees me as a beautiful sunflower. Earlier this year I was at a different church and wondering if I still truly believe God exists or if all these people (myself included) are just really that desperate and will believe just about anything. Well, as I'm sitting there during their musical worship part, a lady put their hand on my shoulder and said to me "God sees you as a beautiful sunflower". God is real. And if someone says to these things "oh that's just coincidence" I reply with my favorite saying I saw on a church sign once: coincidence is just God answering anonymously.

I had an experience when I was in rehab about 10 years. I basically "challenged" God. I told him to prove that He's real and to show me that being sober wasn't going to be a boring life or else I'd go right back to the drugs. We were in a church at the time and I was just angry that my life had gotten to this point and that ""God"" allowed it. So, we were all being prayed over and a woman leading the prayer was looking directly at me, crying and said, "I'm real, don't believe the enemies lies and I'm going to make all of your dreams come true." My dream, a decade ago, was to have a decent, normal life. Fast forward to today, I have an amazing work from home job, the best of friends, mended relationships, a new car, a stunningly beautiful daughter and I'm almost financially set to buy us a house. Do not rely on those things that you mentioned as your anchor of faith because any of those things that you mentioned: the job, the house you are about to buy, the car, even the child can go away and it’s going to be just you and God. An visiting evangelist knew nothing about this, and spoke directly to me that I should do what was in my heart to do, which I think was more a word of knowledge rather than a prophecy. There has been way too much emphasis on the gifts of the spirit and not enough on character. When there are visiting ministers--who prophecy also need some kind of accountability, like a way to let the pastor of the local church know when the prophet or minister is wrong.

I had a prophesy come to pass not to long ago. God gave me a vision in 2020 to get a van, travel the country and help small churches grow. And earlier this year I drove from Michigan to Texas and a minister laid hands on me, prophesied all that and that it was coming soon and God was calling me to California. No joke, when I got back to Michigan I got a fully custom built van for living in with a bedroom in the back, and everything I needed, for FREE. And I spent a month with my family and loved ones before shipping out and I been serving in California ever since. Everything fell into my lap after that prophesy.

I had been unemployed in 2019 and went to a job interview. I was unsure whether I would get the job. I went to church the following sunday and was helping the ushers collect offering (I don’t usually do this). Once I had finished collecting , I was sent to a man at the the church and td to give the offering tray to him and he would ensure its all put away. Anyway I had seen this man before and new he was a church elder but had never spoken to him before. He knew nothing about me. I told nobody in that church I went for a job interview. As I handed the man collection tray he took it, looked at me and said, “Don’t worry you’ll get the job”. Anyway, I got the job. Thats my testimony. I did not strike up any conversation with this man at all but in my mind I was worried because I was in a desperate situation financially. God can use people to communicate things.

I had a similar situation happen to me, when i was saved in 2018 my family turned against me (long story) i felt horrible. the thought of ending it all was in my mind all week and i didn't tell anyone about it then the church had a guest speaker. he told us the Lord had something to say to someone in the room and that it was for a woman she is thinking of ending it all because of family i went up and i was told that our father in heaven loves me and through him i have a new family after that all the guilt and feeling of ending it all left. since then i got married my family and i are getting along i have the Lord to thank for all this.

Thank you for this testimony, Allen! I know God can still work through prophesy, and I went through something similar. Might take a while to read this story.
This happened around five years ago, I'm 26 as I'm writing this. I was a very rebellious, lukewarm christian, was convinced God was real, he answered prayers in the past so I knew how he worked but I really never knew Him. Had a Gf who grew up catholic but had a lot of New Age beliefs and I never put too much thought on it. We were together for 5 years at the time, and we lost our virginities together when we were 19, making sex a habit since then. I joined my parents going to a small church that had the Holy Spirit moving through it, first time someone gave me a specific word from the Lord I started crying painfully, since it had to do with my resentful and rebellious attitude towards Him. I started to pray and read the bible consistently, couple more of times I had specific word from God regarding the things I spoke with him alone in my bedroom.
One time I was praying during worship at church, almost everyone left their seats and went in front of the worship team, so while alone I asked God:
"Lord, what is the next step in order to receive your spiritual gifts? What's next to get where I want to be?"
He responded "you need to leave her".
    "What?!"
    "You need to leave her."
    "Why?"
    "Because she has hurt you."
I was confused. Hurt me? When? How? If anything, I am the one who hurt her couple of times. Then I thought, ok, usually when God asks us to sacrifice something He rewards us with something better, and I had a small crush on a classmate that later on became a friend of mine, so I asked:
"If I leave her, what will you give me?"
"I do not promise you anything, just do it."
This, of course, pissed me off and then stopped the conversation. That same afternoon, my girlfriend called me, she wanted to talk at her house, then we argued (for the first time in years) about our future and what i was going to teach our children (regarding religion), if we had any at some point. I talked to her couple of weeks before about leaving sex until marriage, she felt offended so she confronted me on the matter that day. That was my opportunity to break up and obey the Lord, but I didn't. I didn't know how to tell her "Hey God told me to break up with you" without sounding like a lunatic.
Fast forward a few months, fell into depression, the crush I had on my classmate grew and felt guilty since I already had a gf, I started to lose weight unhealthily, and this urge to leave my gf grew stronger. One time the pastor came again to pray with me at church and opened with THE EXACT SAME WORDS the Lord told me. "You need to leave her, because she has hurt you. I know you told me you wanted her to be The One, but she isn't! You believed this lie from the Devil, that no one could ever love you except her, but that's not true! You are NOT going to be left alone! You are a handsome young man!" This made me cry like a baby (I was struggling with low self-esteem issues) and was overwhelmed by his love and compassion.
At the end of the year right after christmas we broke up. Told her everything, told her none of this made sense, that I needed to be alone, we had no future specially since I was getting stronger in my faith and we would have fights regarding religious beliefs, we confessed that we had feelings for other people. Lord knows I loved her, and I cried painfully days after that. But it was necessary. Now I understand.
Four years since then, no gf, no dates or interests in anyone (besides from that one friend, which by the way rejected me months after the breakup and I was obsessed with that thought for months), and of course no sex, totally celibate. Now I understand the will of God: to marry a godly woman, someone who seeks Him and fears Him, someone who wants to get closer to his presence just like I do. I don't know when that person will come, don't know how long is gonna take. But waiting has a purpose. I need to learn how to love the Lord above anything else.

Wow. Glory be to God and may you delight in the Lord as you wait. And yes it's much purpose .....before I got married, I too was wondering what to do while I wait and I had the best bibles studies with people, I learned so much about God's purpose for marriage, I learned from other brothers and sisters about marriage as they gave their testimonies, and all this I didn't necessarily plan although I would turn on the Am 1500 station or show up at bible studies with people I really didn't even know. I was lead and enjoyed all the clarity and truth in God's word. So much so that it stopped feeling like I was waiting on marriage specifically but whatever God had for me. I actually became so content with our time that I was not anxious at all as I was for so many years. I was glad to finally trust God with all my heart and boy did he surprise me when the time came. I reunited with my first love after 18 years of never seeing each other or even knowing what happened with each other. We met as teenagers at church, which was an outreach in southwest Detroit. Buses would cruise the neighborhood picking up 100s of us to hear the gospel and have fun! We liked each other me 14 and he was 16 and at that time all we could do was talk on the phone.....theres many more details but too much to text...I'm pretty slow with it lol. But I moved and his life went on and so did mine......one day I go to church same place and saw a friend who knew the both of us. He went on to tell me that he had my husband phone number and he didn't know why cause they really didn't talk or have a reason too....so of course I was like call him now!!!! You have to tell him we ran into each other....he did and we were inseparable every since that was in 2016. He shared with me all that God had done with him and how he was waiting, even being laughed at because he told his friend a year earlier that he would meet his wife by next year. He said he knew it was coming....again way more details to this but............,.well you know. Long story short. Waiting on God is the best position to be in right now cause to watch him orchestrate the plans he have for you is great to see and experience. He really is extraordinary and Mighty and truly Love us!!! Glory be to our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

I got engaged at 22. After seeing my parents go through a lot in my childhood, inwardly, I made up in my mind I didn't want to be a failure as a husband and a father. I never had this conversation with anyone. Just my inner prayer. I went to church one Sunday during that time only to get prayed for. I visited a new church my mom and dad were going to. I went up to get prayed for. I was going to ask him to pray a blessing over my upcoming marriage and my unborn child that my fiance was carrying but before I could make the request, the pastor stopped as he walked up to me and asked me what my name was. I told him my name. He looked at me and said "Andre, God is telling me to yell you, if you surrender yourself to him, he will make you the husband and father that you want to be". Mind you....I've never seen this man in my life! He spoke directly to me about something that ONLY God knew I was thinking about inwardly! I'm right there with you bro. Sidenote.....my wife and I will be celebrating our 21st anniversary on next Saturday. God is faithful!

I had a similar experience a few years ago. I had made a "vow" to God that once I get married, I would never step out on my spouse. We we separated for about 2 years and I ended up blowing it & boy did I feel condemned! Even after hearing God tell me that He was gonna use this for my good, it still wasn't enough for me to stop condemning myself. The next day I went to church, and out of all people, my mother in law came over to me while I was on my knees praying, and said, when she looked over at me, she heard the Spirit say, tell him there is no condemnation. After that I knew that God loved me and that I was truly forgiven and I've never made a terrible choice like that again.

Something no one could know at that time. This is one of the gifts of the Spirit found in 1 Corinthians 12. God uses this gift to get our attention, so to speak... Prophetic words/ prophecies always have to do with your future potential in the will of God or purpose in life.

A few weeks later at church that woman walked up to me, called my name and said, “The Lord just laid it upon my heart to tell you that I don’t need anything. A couple years ago my brother became an atheist and he would often say things on the way to church to try and undermine our faith, and one day, church started and the pastor said something along the lines of "somebody in this service tonight is trying to undermine" and also something like "we need to run the devil out this service tonight" and everybody started shouting and worshipping and in that moment I got goosebumps and started tearing up, and I felt like God really cares about me and he lifted me up in my doubt's and strengthened me. since then my whole family, cousins and all have left the church, though they claim to still be Christians. But God has lifted me up and kept my through everything that has happened. Many of nights crying scared of what's going to happened, doubting if I'm even saved, wondering if I will ever be able to go back to church, seeing as I live with my parents and don't have a way to go back at the moment. But God has been faithful and kept me and strengthened me in my fear and doubt. Just know that whatever your going through, God is there for you and cares deeply for you, and above all, he's got your back.

Amen!🙏🏼Test those spirits & ask for confirmation!💯Especially in this day & age, because now not only are there a plethora of false prophets- there’s also witches trying to infiltrate the church.😑Timely message, thanks Allen!🔥

I love how real you are as a Christian. We all sin and fall short in God’s eyes. I’m so thankful for His forgiveness.
I so understand that struggle. Sex is really hard for me. I wish I was married. That guilt of falling to temptation.. it’s awful. But I’m doing good now 😇

Thank you, brother, for sharing this. I can relate. I've had a couple of prophecy experiences similar to yours in my life which I've guarded in my heart. Haven't shared them with anyone. I trust that God will see me through to the fulfillment of these promises. Thank you for the principles you mentioned.

I wrote a book, sent it to a publisher, but had no peace. I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to retract the book. I did. Nobody understood, not my husband(but he did support me) not my family. They thought I was a loon. I asked God often to confirm that this was from Him, one day in a Bible study group, a man came to me and said: God saw your sacrifice." He didn't know me, he knew nothing about my situation. It gave me tremendous peace and strength.

I was on a hike four years ago and I go to the top of the mountain. I was on a different path than I always take and there was a group of people worshipping and playing guitar. A stood there for a minute and a man came over while everyone was singing aloud and stood in front of me. He told me as he looked at me that I would regain my relationship relationship my father and brother. Well, after years and years of not having any relationship with my father, my dad's wife died and he moved back to Utah area which is close to me. My dad was in need for me and I was there for him of course. Now my father is terminally ill and he wants me to help him. This isn't exactly what someone would want the story to look like but I do know God gives prophesy to let us know he is beside us during trials. He knows some of us are hard headed and he hits the nail on the head. He is specific and clear. Don't believe prophesy channels. Someone who is a prophet doesn't claim it all the time. Prophets cannot just pull a prophesy out of a hat. Prophesy is randomized, irregular events and specific.

Thank you for sharing this experience with us. Evangelical Christians too often don’t want to acknowledge the gifts of the Spirit. On the other hand, Charismatic Christians try to minimize the fruit of the Spirit. WE NEED BOTH!!!!! Pursue Love and desire spiritual gifts. Especially that we prophecy.

I had a similar thing happen back in college. Had a woman speak to me about something I hadn't told anyone. I love your Biblical perspective on this and agree with your stance/viewpoint. We have to have discernment and bring everything to His word. Thanks for sharing!

Hey I'm from Cleveland😊! No coincidence lol We have to stop putting God in a box , when its from God we'll know, the main thing is it has to line up scripturally, most prophesies are warnings or encouragement with forgiveness, Thanks again for another awesome video

I believe that you will know when that prophecy is directed at you if you have been carrying the sin heavily on your heart for some time. As a kid you never owned up to something that you didn't do, but the squirming you did by being caught out was enough for your parent to know. I agree with Allen, I don't care who knows my sin so long as I can receive forgiveness for it!
