    Excellent clear instructions. I stay stitch or stabilise as soon as I cut out because some fabrics stretch if you look at them. Love your channel

    Hello! Another great video! I have had a day where I have been running around doing a bunch of errands and didn't stitch all day so now I'm hand quilting and watching. I hope you have a joyful week ahead. Thank you for posting this video and your creativity.

    Are you left handed?! Love the way you quickly iron it on. When I ironed mine on it melted a bit, maybe the iron was too hot?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 роки тому +1

      I am right handed but I play all my sports with my left hand, so perhaps a bit ambidextrous! I have got used to doing stuff with the best hand to get it in the video!
      Yes, maybe the iron was a bit hot. I would try using a pressing cloth? Test it on a piece of fabric too. And check if your interfacing has instructions for heat and time. It should have them written on the interfacing edge or where you bought it.

    What brand stabiliser tape do you use? Mine doesn’t have the stitching only fusible but tape?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 роки тому +1

      This is a Vilene one as it is easy for people to purchase. But I do have some unbranded ones too. I have some without the stitching but usually I will use them for different areas of the garment.

      @@RudeGurlTheBOSS I sell the Vilene one in my online shop (madetosew.com/product/vilene-bias-tape/). Not sure where you are based, we ship stuff from the UK or Australia and we ship worldwide. But if you search 'Vilene bias tape' on Google you might find somewhere local to you sells it? Hope that helps. Aneka

    Off topic but does anybody know if the ties for a dress need to be cut on the bias?. My dress has two ties that are just above hip level that tie at the front & I would save fabric if I didn't have to cut on the bias.

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Gill, it really depends on the design of them and what they are for. If they are just straight ties then I would cut them on the straight of grain.
      Think about how the grain will help / hinder the ties. The bias will stretch, whereas the straight of grain will be more stable.
      But it might depend how the ties are being finished as well.
      Hope this helps,
      Aneka

    • @gill8779
      @gill8779 2 роки тому +1

      @@MadetoSew Thanks Aneka, The ties are shaped wider where they attach in the side seams & tapered to the end. My dress is in silk so there is fluidity, I think then cutting on the bias may be better. I was just trying to save fabric lol, hoping to get a skirt out of the remaining fabric.

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  2 роки тому +1

      @@gill8779 Yes, if the designer has asked for it to be cut on the bias there is probably a reason. It sounds lovely.
