Even the most veteran amongst you including me might forget these fundamental unspoken rules of helldivers 2 from time to time, so i've made this video to remind everyone to do your part by following these laws of common decency & common curtesy towards each other during your matches, especially during quickplay matches. We're still waiting on news about the new warbond & update for the game giving me time to talk about the less time sensitive fundamentals yet again.

7:10 I feel like this one happens mainly because of how patrols would spawn around every player before the 60-day patch. Before the patch, I would outright tell people not to call extract until we finished because I didn't want to deal with the sudden waves of patrols spawning around me while I was doing sub-objectives.
It only became a good idea to call it early after the patch

I'd like a video on bug holes and fabricators. Like how often they spawn and what determines when they do spawn. Because currently i can go a few mins clearing a heavy bug nest with with very few or no bugs spawning at all and other times they don't stop spawning for a while.

I have to admit, I often call in reinforcements across the entire map, although it seems to me that most players have to be at least above level 25 to actually notice everyone spamming the "reinforce me please" button. Kinda wish my team mates actually bothered to do that, I've had a bunch of players leave the match out of frustration.

One polite / "good habit" I've learned from playing Deep Rock Galactic is to ask / let team mates know if we're ready for an objective that takes time/team power, or to call in the shuttle to get out. Really simple too: "R?" to ask if everyone else is Ready, and "R" to just state you are ready. Only takes a few seconds to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Another thing I would suggest is that when calling in reinforcements in the middle of a large fight, marking large targets for the hellpods to squash should they so choose is very nice as well.
Also, I just had my first successful stealth run in a Super Helldive lobby. I told my team I would split off, and cleared about 35% of the map solo with no problems. Your previous stealth guide was SUPER helpful in educating me in how to carry the mission out. Thank you!

While he is getting reinforced, I start reloading it for him so he can use it right away after i drop it.

I always run with one of the guard dogs or the personal shield and everytime I see someone not having any backpack in their loadout I tell them I'll drop them one, or run up to them, drop my backpack and ping it so they take it and I can call myself a new one. Some randoms will also start spamming the request reinforce if no one calls them back in immediately. So some people just call it in as soon as someone dies.
Boarding the pelican early is something I haven't seen more than once or twice. The only thing I can think is you were low on reinforcements and they didn't think you could make it before everyone died so they boarded with what they had. Or they are idiots. That's always a possibility.
Also, it doesn't really feel like helldivers if everyone has time to make good decisions all the time. I thought half the point was the crazy firefighters where a factory strider gets dropped on your head while your trying to deal with a shredder tank and a pair of gunships. I've noticed it's usually newer, lower level players that might call in Pelican-1 early on as soon as they reach the extraction zone. Sometimes they'll know to wait, especially if they see others are running around the map getting POI's or secondary objectives done. Once in a rare while they'll jump in the pelican as soon as it arrives, even after I type a few times to wait.
Sometimes I'm close enough that I'll make barely make it (and sometimes someone else stands on the door to allow that extra 2-3 seconds before it really leaves). Other times I'm nowhere near and the cutscene of it taking off plays. I'll make sure to remind them of all the samples they just lost out on because they couldn't wait a few more seconds for me to get back.
I'm capped on everything besides super credits, so I could just be lazy and not pick any up. But I like to do it because I know many other players still need them, so I'm really doing it for their sake. Thankfully most players understand that without me having to tell them.

    1. Minimize crossing someone’s line of fire if you’re both shooting in the same direction.
    2. Mortar sentries should be deployed right next to you when you need to hold a position for a while. If you’re heading out, better to destroy it.
    3. All other sentries (bar EMS) should be placed not where they have good LoS to cover a wide area, *but somewhere it can’t fire back towards the area you want to be in * (ex other side of a rock/butte).

    Some artillery etiquete:
    1. Load up the most useful shells first; least useful ones last. In this regard, it is helpful to first gather up most/all the shells near the gun's autoloader before deciding which ones to load first.
    2. The order of priority is usually: Mini Nuke > High Yield Explosive > Explosive > Napalm > Static > Smoke
    3. Once you're done, call out the load order to the rest of your team. Voice is acceptable, but using text gives you and teammates something they can refer to later in the game in case anyone missed it or forgot.
    4. If a Mini Nuke is available, try to save it for dangerous objectives that would otherwise require a Hell Bomb if you know there's one on the map, especially if someone spotted a Gunship Factory in the distance. The High Yield Explosive would be sufficient to take down Detector Towers (not sure if the Explosive shells work too).

Perhaps I can suggest another rule. When playing with stealth players, don't shoot everything in sight.
I had a few games where I was sneaking into an enemy base, and the random players with me all ran in guns blazing. Before I knew it, we were dealing with multiple flame hulks, tanks, a dozen devistators, and a factory strider.
During a different game, I worked well with a different player. We would take objectives two at a time. He would go into his objective making noise and drawing enemy reinforcements his way while I would quietly take out my objective. Whoever finished first would then go to back up the other player. Rinse and repeat for a quick and complete map clear. It was fun.
TLDR: If someone is being sneaky, don't attract unwanted attention by being noisy nearby.

The number of extracts where teams i play with have been utterly wiped out, when just having let Pelican 1 do his thing instead of instantly rushing the extract, Have been gigantic.
Pelican 1 can wipe out enemy forces that a player-team would take 4 minutes work on, in a couple of seconds and the number of missions failed purely because someone breached the radius, is uncountable to me.
We've literally had people walk or remain in the radius, Even when a teammember has been with them, they've both been on MIC, and our team member has been verbally telling them to back up out of the radius, so pelican 1 can handle them.

More courtesy tips: Try to gauge if your teammates that activate extract do so with the intent of hovering the ship. Don't make the ship land by staying in the circle. Sometimes people do extraction first and then the mega nest for example. By making the ship land your team loses the free fire support.
Secondly, let the person closest to a teammate's death location reinforce them. If nobody is close, you can reinforce them. Make a voice comm to tell them which direction to steer their pod when droppipng in. (The game robs the player of any way to orient themselves during the drop in, they need info to know which way to steer to drop closer to where they died.) You can call the heading in the compass. You can gain maximum throw distance towards their death location when reinforcing by forward diving and throwing at around 50 degrees up.

Couple of extra don'ts, as well as some nice dos
    1. DO NOT pick up the samples at extract. They were put there deliberately. Unless you're merging your samples with them, leave them alone
    2. DO NOT tunel vision in to a lost objective alone. Yes, you may well have dropped the super samples in the middle of a fortress, but if you've died attempting to get it back more than twice and your teammates are doing something else, take the L and go somewhere else. You're bleeding reinforcements and would be far more helpful doing something else. Grab it when you have back-up or later on in the mission when the area calms down
    3. DO ping heavies when reinforcing. If you aren't completely overrun and want some extra damage on a heavy, ping it when reinforcing. It helps your teammates steer their hellpod into them for a load of damage
    4. DO make liberal use of the map marking system. This seems basic, but it hard carries missions when playing with randoms, turning what would be a disorganised mess into a co-ordinated unit. You don't have to follow all markers, but at the very least, knowing where people are going to be helps everyone tremendously

I think this person grabbed one of mine that was on the ground when I was dead and I called in another. He must of thought I grabbed his and proceeded to fill my head with lead and get it back. You can imagine I wasn’t so pleased and got back at him by unloading my impact incendiaries at our feet. I was fine but he wasn’t and I got my pack back. We had a freaking standoff with our guns pointed at each other and called it a draw. But the teammates found it hilarious.

Important note for that first one about stealing gear: open your stratagem menu and you should be able to see the cooldowns of your entire team. If you need an ally's weapon and they can call a new one in you are usually clear to grab it. Typically you should decide by how far away they are from it. If they are a good distance away and clearly are not trying to get back to it, go ahead and use it at will. Worst case they ask for it back and you drop it for them. Do not grab it however if they are clearly making an effort to retrieve it, since they may want to save their next weapon for when they can't retrieve their current one.

The amount of times I've been Walking Barrage'd/380'd or even Eagle'd with an airstrike or 500 while I'm quite visibly in the nest/outpost closing structures just because the stratagem thrower thought it'd be a "good idea" to throw their freshly off cooldown explosive hellscape maker to close the last couple holes/fabricators through sheer luck even though I or a fellow teammate can see the structures to destroy is above zero and it annoys me.
This is basically just an addendum to communicating with teammates when throwing offensive stratagems but also have some common sense to not do so when you see your teammates in the thick of an outpost unless they're about to die or are already dead.
Another smaller peeve of mine (and this sounds arrogant) is when I join randoms on the Bot front to test loadout ideas for team play viability and "low level" (ranging from 30-40 roughly) hosts on like Diffs 6-8 see my loadout and either straight up kick me from the mission or berate my loadout choices AND THEN kick me. Like, I'm level 150 in the game now and know a solid chunk of its mechanics, so it irks me when some low level host sees me bring something totally "off-meta" that's not the RR or autocannon or other thing and then give me the boot like they know better. Your loss, stinky.

You must have terrible luck. I've never been kicked for my loadout, nor even berated for it. I also don't use meta gear. I run a inf ammo set up; All lasers.

@@dakota9821 To be fair, they were definitely eyebrow-raising loadouts (e.g., gatling barrage, strafing run, MG sentry, gatling sentry; bringing all arc/EMS equipment; or bringing nothing but fire and gas) which seem odd on the Bot front, but I never take these higher than level 7 or 8 so I'm not intentionally being dead weight. I enjoy bringing these to the bots too cuz screw it, it's out of place but funny. However I lost trust in the quickplay system from being booted over "weird" choices by, and I kept track of the level averages, divers around level 40 or less. Divers leveling toward 70-80+ though understood my antics and went with it; I even had a random fellow 150 join me in goofing around on a couple 8 Bots operations with him on gas and myself on fire. It sucked lol but we made it work and it was damn funny.

You can absolutely win with everything, you just have to find the neesh it fits and what your play style is atm.

An unspoken rule related to #1 - Call in your extra backpacks and support weapons if one of the Divers doesn't have them. A support weapon and backpack does little good if its ready for call in while your team mate doesn't have them.

Resupply just needs to have a separate CD for each diver with a SLIGHTLY longer CD so that players can coordinate or just call it down when they need it. Great to have during missions like defend the flag or tower defense missions, so you can stockpile reloads and devastate your enemies.

    • @meisterregmyster
      @meisterregmyster 2 місяці тому

That’s how it was during the first galactic war. You could have as many resupply call ins as you had stratagem slots per diver. Yes they took a stratagem slot but everyone could call in their own resupply but the squad was forced to stay together so you really only needed a few resupplies for the squad. With the changing logistics in the second galactic war, squads dont have to stick with each other but resupplying is limited. Having the resupply backpack brought along to compensate as it is on a separate cooldown and has plenty of ammo to share with others or horde for yourself and be a one man unkillable death machine. Having a resupply backpack in the squad helps the squad stay topped off and be more careless with ammunition/stim/grenade usage. You usally dont need more than one in the squad unless you need a lot of stims. If you dont need to hand out all the packs on the resupply backpack, you can call in another one for a diver without a backpack. Now you have up to 8 resupply packs ready for your next encounter on a mission.

Unspoken addendum: If a squadmate dies near you, call them in. Too many times it falls on me while I’m on the opposite side of the map. Luckily in those scenarios I tend to have a spare jump pack to lend out.

How about "don't join high level missions if you dont know how to play and have no mic".
Just yesterday, i was completing a super helldive mission set. 3rd mission, wall defense. EASY WIN, right?
Nope, a level 24 with no mic joins. In 30 seconds he takes a well defended wall and kills the other 3 players, disarming all of us. 5 rockets had launched. 3 to go. So, the drop ships are coming heavier now. 2 or 3 factory striders +tanks every drop. Death spirals. No one can get to their gear. Everyone's sentries are killed and on cooldown. Failed mission. Undid all the defense progress of all 3 missions in 5 minutes. Didn't have the decency to get on a mic and say "sorry i ruined 1hr 45 min of progress from your 3 missions"
Kicked him from continuing and made a new rule for my lobby, level 50+ for helldive and super helldive missions.
Kicked 3 people today for exactly this. Told them, "you have no mic and you are too low level for this mission. Nothing personal. But your predecessors have ruined it for you"
If someone wants to use coms, i will take a chance. But rather than have a lobby of 3 people with no mic, i will solo dive or just play a single player game.
No reason to spend 40 minutes in a mission with someone who is clearly unskilled AND does not even have the courtesy to use a mic

🤣 have you never seen a computer? What world do you live in where computers have inbuilt microphones? *Some* laptops have inbuilt speakers, but I've never heard of one with an inbuilt mic. So no, not every computer has a mic, in fact it's not all that rare for people to not have one, especially if they don't typically play multiplayer games, or games where voice chat is useful. Some multiplayer games don't even need voice chat.

Those last few! Thank you! I got kicked recently because I split off from my teammates to do other stuff. They probably saw my low kill count at the stats menu and then kicked me. Had another person kick me for the pelican thing. We were in a Super Helldive and had NO reinforcements left. One of our teammates decided to fight far away from the pick up, and didn't get back to extract. The rest of us made it. But he was mad, left after the mission, and then the host kicked me, despite the fact that I completely carried that mission. So frustrating.

I once had a game where someone killed me because they weren’t done looting the map. I’d done most of the map myself and they’d joined in at the end to make a group of four. I call in extraction and he just walks up and shoots me with his mechsuit without saying anything, either in chat or in voice. Then he walks outside the extraction radius and his friend calls me an idiot for somehow not knowing they weren’t done looting. They don’t reinforce me for about two minutes. I was getting incredibly close to snapping and just kicking them, but I didn’t want to be that guy. For the record none of us ended up extracting. As soon as the mission was over, they left without a word. They never apologized, and I’m still mad about that. Their justification was that “I didn’t look like I was going to leave extraction.” Like seriously, you could’ve just said something, you didn’t have to kill me. Just… ugh.
