Well, I suppose that's what happens when you reach 137 years old. Either that or his Sennin training. Look up his backstory on the Street Fighter Wiki, and you'll see what I mean.
Real talk some of those early sf3 stages were really cool, I wish they kept them, or made a version of third strike that included all the stages from all the iterations.
@@ayronjr16 Because 3S, as good as it is, was made as a low-budget, last-ditch major refresh of the SFIII "brand" made by a different team to try to recoup the HUGE losses Capcom had with New Generation and 2nd Impact - hence why it feels more refined than the previous two games while looking cheaper and having a very different, distinct audiovisual identity.
The detail in the stages is really amazing. In Sean's stage alone there's all the tiny windows and the sunlight creeping into nooks and crannies of the buildings. And the colour palette is incredible. There's always something new to find when you go through these backgrounds. A lot of the Third Strike stages feel really simple and empty compared to these. Compare Ibuki's ninja village with characters, blowing grass and the shifting daylight, to an empty open field at sunset with little animation.
I too have always preferred the New Generation and Second Impact stages to the Third Strike stages. Even though, in Third Strike, I find the Ibuki and Elena stages to be very memorable.
Facts. New Generation introduced selectable Super Arts and Second Impact introduced EX moves. Even though they both felt weird in terms of gameplay. Third Strike basically defined what modern Street Fighter is today
@@Dresfvae Word. New Generation & 2nd Impact changed a lot and heads weren’t ready. I mean they're incredible but you can't really shine when under the colossal shadow of a game that is SO good (and unarguably better) and also has basically the same name
@@protodevilinYeah, i actually thought that they were going to bring him back when they first started mentioning dlc characters, but it never became a thing unfortunately.
Man i was so blown away by New Generation as a kid in '97, the music, the stages, the graphics, the presentation, etc. I really have a soft spot for this game man. I was one of the few people in my local arcade that played it on a regular basis, most people hated it because they didn't like the idea of parrying and thought it didn't make sense and also because the cast was almost completely new. Most SF fans at the time kept playing Alpha 2.
Sean's stage is honestly the most beautiful thing. Even with the christmas tree it feels so nostalgic. The lighting behind the buildings, the overall tone, its a fucking masterpiece. I hope they can remaster the stage in 3D to make it even more beautiful.
this was my first sf game, I played it a lot in my local barbershop when I was 6. The instrumentation in the first 2 sf3 games are unmatched! Smooth on the ears and more chill than most entries.
I always thought that, too (the sea of lava thing), but I'm 99% sure now it's just the Dead Sea, which is naturally red in colour. And Gill's stage is called the 'Mediterranean Sea', but it still counts, as, for all we know, the stage could be off the coast of Malta or Cyprus. LOL, I dunno, I suppose that's just an educated guess.
it might just be novelty since i’ve never really seen this game or 2nd impact before, but the stages in this game are SUPER interesting, even if they clash a little bit with the action. wish they could’ve stuck around for third strike.
It's amazing how the stages still hold up after 24 years. They're so pretty for how (should I say it?) basic they are - graphics wise, of course. I mean, this game's basically the same age as Tekken 3.
In the first two SF3 games, air parries work differently from 3rd Strike. You can press either forward or down regardless of the attack, and the direction determines your trajectory after the parry. Pressing forward makes you rebound, while pressing down makes you bounce forward.
Oro is definitely one of the more unique additions to Street Fighter. His design, his attitude, fighting using only one arm, he’s a character I will always remember. He’s basically the Yoda of Street Fighter, a strange looking creature that doesn’t act all that serious yet is one of the most wise and strongest warriors in their worlds.
This is indeed looks fun and enjoyable to look at. Too bad nobody ever talks about SF3 all the time, sure it has a cult following that’s for sure but it is considered a under appreciated fighting game ever made. It’s one Capcom early years when they were very heavy focused on DMC and most other survival horror games at that time, they didn’t payed attention towards their fighting games until now.
Samus also has this on all 2D Metroid games post-Super. But yeah, Gill is fancy like that 'cuz Capcom wanted to show off what the CPSIII could do with "next-gen" 2D graphics, and that's part of the reason why it took until SFV for him to show up as a playable character again - no other arcade board made before or after the CPSIII could replicate his unique spritework due to hardware and memory limitations and such.
@@Bingo_the_Pug To be fair, Gill is probably the only one they could feasibly pull this off with. His actual design is symmetrical and very plain, so keeping his colors on the correct sides is a simple task of just re-coloring the animation frames to be consistent. If they did this with Oro or any other character with even a slightly more complex design, they'd have to rework posing on moves and figure out how to sell the movement from different angles. It'd be a mess and would've eaten up a lot of dev time, which is why nearly every game that uses sprites just flips them.
