The Palmetto State Armory Jakl is a main stay for today’s gun owner and PSA makes an incredible rifle. The Jakl in 5.56 with the 14.5” barrel is one great shooting and functioning rifle. It shoots flat, fast and most importantly, it’s reliable.
All new from Vortex is the AMG UH-1 in FDE. This holographic weapon sight looks great and functions like you would expect. For our set up we have a Die Free Co Kung Fu Grip and HRT AWLS Weapon light. The set up is perfect for home defense, training or just having fun with target practice.
For a piston driven design the Jakl beats out the Sig MCX Spear and other similar designs by incorporating quality at a much lower cost. American made and freedom dispensing! Let us know your thoughts on the Jakl and all new Vortex AMG UH1 in FDE.

I am a huge psa fan and their mission. I just picked up the Sabre and am closely watching reviews on the Sabre. I love having a up front style charging handle. Seems simple but it’s what I like.
It’s a really nice rifle!
16" jakl 5.56 upper, 80% lower, Samson BRE with CTR. Steadily working it's way to favorite suppressor host.
Hell yeah!
I went from Pmags to USGI metal mags and prefer the metal ones at this point. It’s a vibe.
I really like Lancer mags too!
@@HuntFishShootChannel I have a few Lancers and like them as well
Did a Kung Fu Grip and your wright on the money Great Grip.
Did a 3.5lb PSA Match Trigger a Magpul Sling and did Holosun 510c Combo with a 3X Magnifier I like the setup. I agree 100% about the stock-Sharp looking but cheaply made.
Glad we agree! The Kung Fu Grip rocks!
aint gonna lie, forgot about this gun. thank you, its back on my list!
Definitely recommend it!
First time seeing your channel. I hope you’re not another UA-cam shill because I like these videos so far.
As for that FDE UH-1, it makes my pants bulge!
Rifle looks nice too.
No worries! We are not 💪 if we “promote” something on here it’s because we believe in that item or thing.
Thanks for watching!
Their new stock is just as expensive, with the biggest downside being that the hinges are plastic on plastic. You can see the detents in them pinching and giving way if you try to force the folded stock back into place without the actuation. Not that you would, but it's an airsoft level flaw for such a pricey product.
Oh I think the stock sucks. It’s grossly overpriced
You're basement operator skills are starting to show again 😄
😂
Your*
So are YOUR English skills. Haha
English and spelling never was a strong suit of mine, but you spelling and english majors are just stuck with me on here it'll be alright, just think of me as the Cousin Eddie on here you know like the Guy from National Lampoons Christmas vacation im that guy of the family 😄
@David-j3n Happy to have you in the family, Cousin Eddie!
I always thing it’s weird when someone says “it’s a piston gun so you can just adjust the gas”. Just because something is a piston gun doesn’t mean that it automatically has an adjustable gas block. Really I would say most don’t have an adjustable block. The Ak, the M14, the earlier HK 416s, the K1/K2, the T91 and tons of others
Well with most piston guns manufactured and developed now, they have adjustable gas settings
Finally a AMG in FDE
Woot woot!
Woot woot!
Good morning, everyone. Like I will always say. PSA ammo. 👌. I haven't had a chance to shoot any of their firearms yet. When their jakl .308 comes out. I may look into that model. On the magazines. I know my dad and I love the metal magazines from APF ( Alex Pro Firearms. 0 issues so far. You can run them any AR style platform .223 or 5.56.
Great! Thanks for sharing James 👍
Went to go find the M&P Carry Comp video but it must not be up yet. Just send the Jakl video to my brother to push him into buying one before I sell a Bren or MCX.
M&P video is coming soon.
lol I did the same
For a $1000 bucks... hard to beat man. Great review.
Thank you!
If I got the one besides the 10.5, it would he the 13.7 pinned and welded. PS they own the company that makes the stock. I think it enough people mention it, they will fix the issue.
We have the 10.5 as well. Also this is the 13.7, I misspoke in the video
Just a tad bit under gassed, but that still is probably a bad mag. I would give it one more click. 10:32. You did correctly state that you had turned the gas down. Please don't take this as a gate comment. Just a comment about an adjustable gas system.
it shoots so nice as is, I doubt I’ll move it for now
Someone feel free to correct me, but I was under the impression that the the main impetus for the Gen3 PMAGs was the anti-overinsertion tab and other bits to make the mags more reliable when used with other related platforms beyond just mil-spec lowers. Like the 416, SCAR, and others. That would suggest that using Gen1 and Gen2 in this gun may be more prone to mag related issues. Try a Gen3?
Jakl uses mil-spec lowers, however the adapter or upper may be causing the issues.
It could be a few things, possibly even gas settings but not likely as I experienced this on higher settings. I don’t have any Gen 3 mags lying around but have tons of lancers and they are great in it!
@@michaeleason1217 Good point, I forgot about that.
14:10 Havent seen the full review on the M&P Carry Comp because you released this video first
It’s coming
This gun actually looks interesting but I have heard some mixed reviews on it. Mostly in regards to the rails being outta spec. Not working on P mags is kind of a negative too. That’s all that I even have personally speaking lol.
Have a thumbs up for the Lost Odyssey profile pic.
Don't buy it, my friend who got it sold it soon after. 9:57 It wasn't the Pmag's fault, the gun malfunctioned and locked open onto the carrier. You can see some bolt was visible, it jammed on top of the ammo without feeding.
People like to undergas this rifle and call it soft shooting because of that and the fact it is front-heavy. That F5 MFG copycat ACR stock flexes and it has poor fitment.
If you like this style, get an 8, 11, or 14" Bren2 pistol and SBR it with an OEM stock. Maybe consider a few HBI upgarde parts. Then you actually have an awesome combat-proven rifle.
@JohnZ556 the issues I had were directly linked to PMAGs. I had and have had no issues with anything else. So don’t buy it or not, I don’t particularly care but it’s not the gun in this case.
@@HuntFishShootChannel The gun had a false bolt hold open(caused by undergassing) on that Lancer mag before you even started that reload. Are you going to blame that Lancer mag now? No mag can save that malfunction when the bolt is riding on top of the round instead of behind it.
If you have other evidence proving it's the PMAG's fault, I'm happy to see them; I just didn't see it from your video.
But you're right; not exactly the gun's fault in this case since you choked the gas too much.
@@JohnZ556ok bud.
So by "ALL NEW", you mean it's in a different color. 😔
Sick setup, clean mods 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
I have a few PSA lowers that have trouble with the 20 rnd gen 2 pmags guess they are just really tight
Maybe that’s the case!
You’re really tight
Cant wait to see Hop tear the UH1 to fucking shreds
It’s been out for a very long time, this is just a different color.
You should review the Lead&Steel Promethean dot if you haven’t already.
We haven’t yet but looking to do so!
I would love to see a review on the Vortex Spitfire 5x
Not a fan of prism optics personally
Oh I’ve always been a fan of them because of my astigmatism.
You look like Rambos little Brother with that gun i will be watching the rest of this video later work work work 😊
😂
Love my jakl. Only complaint is i heve to wear gloves to shoot it or ill burn the shit out of my hand. 10.5" barrel and the gas piston/gas block interact exactly where i place my support hand
The shorty does get hot! I didn’t notice this getting nearly as hot
@@HuntFishShootChannel yeah it's not exactly the heat but the gas/soot that goes with it haha
Nice blaster!
Thank you!
That's a cool looking firearm
💪🏻💪🏻
Just a good video with a peanut butter sandwich and a cold qt of milk 😂
Right! That would be perfect!
@@HuntFishShootChannel Now let's work on those arms , O yeah I seen that video. I better start with .22 LR. 💪
@waynecastleman1363 😂
I'm waiting to see the pricing for the 308 version.
Nice!
Mom said you'll have malfunction days like this at the range sometimes
LOL, that is so true. But none of the malfuntions was caused by bad luck. The primary reason is user error by undergassing the rifle, 7:52, 8:30, and 9:57. The last one was pretty bad because that will cause another malfunction if the shooter doesn't know what to do. You can see it had a false lock-up when the bolt was already hanging above the feedlip before he realized he needed to reload. Then you can see he released the bolt that was already riding on top of the mag.
That type of false lock-up is a clear sign of an undergassed rifle, where the bolt didn't even go back far enough, and the bolt catch only caught on the carrier instead.
The easiest fix is to charge the rifle after inserting a fresh mag. But still, I would need to look into what happened afterward.
@JohnZ556 I like joking around with Mike. I know it wasn't him all. Mike has a great sense of humor
@@David-j3n I thought so too, literally just defended him against some dude under his SCAR 17 DMR video. Then this video kinda makes me think he is lacking some basic knowledge of tuning an AGB, and has some ego issues to correct mistakes when being pointed out.😂
@JohnZ556 hello John…. It’s an adjustable position based gas block, I have it on a setting which I find that shoots the softest and mentioned in the video that it’s likely not the most ideal for reliability. No ego, you mistake is thinking you are the authority when it comes to a position based gas block that anyone could figure out which setting they want based on the user preference. Shoot your guns on what setting you want, and I’ll use my range toys how I like to shoot them, besides when I add a suppressor to it, it’s going to need changed again.
Dude, you are running it way under-gassed, this isn't a competition rig. It jammed and didn't lock back because the AGB gives people too much flexibility. Some people run it as low as they can get away under nice range conditions while the gun is somewhat clean and lubed. Coupled with the fact that it is front-heavy, some call it soft shooting, but it is not reliable at all that way.
Take Bren2, for example, a military rifle that has been combat-tested with great results. The gas plug is only two positions, and an ejection pattern before 3 o'clock is standard.
Being a somewhat long barrel with a long 4-prong FH, shooting fireballs in daylight is alarming. It might be a few rounds of pissing hot ammo, evident by those few shots that seem to have a more normal, almost 3 o'clock ejection pattern than your other shots(which are under-gassed).
That F5 MFG ACR copy stock is pretty trash, poor fitment and it bends under pressure.
9:57 The hold open likely malfunctioned and was hanging onto the carrier instead of the bolt face. Aside from you didn't notice the false hold open🤣. Then the BCG got stuck on top of the ammo instead of feeding it to the chamber.
Again, it was a user error of undergassing the rifle. It's NOT a seating issue with the Pmag.😂
Honestly, are you hard of hearing? I state things in the video in relation to how I have the gas setting. I even mention that I could turn the gas up. It functions great with metal mags and my lancer mags while remaining soft shooting. For me it’s nothing more than a range gun or shooting with a suppressor, not a duty rifle. leave the idea behind that every gun is for defensive use or needs to fight some genre.
@@HuntFishShootChannel Chill dude, I have some experience tuning piston guns; every assessment about the JAKL and ammo I just gave is most likely true. Feel free to correct me.
9:57-Go watch your own video. The bolt didn't even lock back properly, the bolt is already on top of the feedlips, no mag can fix that; stop blaming the Pmag when the gun already malfunctioned on that Lancer(not Lancer's fault either). At 7:52, the casing barely got ejected with the BCG stuck midway, that's a textbook FTF caused by undergassing.
It's okay to make a mistake, admit it, fix it, and move on. If I literally don't give an F about how well your rifle is running or your channel, then why would I point out your mistake? Take it FWIW, or you can tell me and everyone that you don't care about the truthfulness of your video.
You claim 'Why Is The PSA JAKL So Good?' and I watched your whole video, but I refuse to take what you said for a fact because the video shows otherwise.
'leave the idea behind that every gun is for defensive use or needs to fight some genre.' your words, I never claimed such. Fun fact: My best gun buddy is a collector, so...🤣
@@HuntFishShootChannel 8:30 Again, FTF caused by undergassing. Barely ejected the casing but was not even close to catching the groove of the next round to cause a jam like 7:52.
Don't get me wrong. I think you should get rid of that old Pmag. It could be getting old and starting to be finicky around some guns. But I can't say it is the primary cause of your issues from watching this video.
As I said from the beginning, another factor is that those fireballs indicate something is wrong with your ammo. If they can be that overcharged, then how about a few that are undercharged?
@@JohnZ556are you this obnoxious in person. Give it a break. No one was waiting for you to chime in. Wow!
I’m waiting for a 6mm ARC
In the Jakl? You will be waiting until the next century
Just wondering but are you doing ok healthwise?
Yes I sure am, thanks for asking
Not a big fan of that brace i see whatt you mean about it
It’s a stock. Not a brace
They now have them with a B&T stock, just ordered one to try out
Proven 😂😂
Now suppress it....
Fire it up!

PSA shill officially. PSA is overrated and not full fight ready.
Didn’t say it was full fight ready and PSA Shill? You must be new hear, especially seeing as we reviewed two PSA products before this and neither received positive reviews
What a turd level comment 💩
“Not full fight ready”… so um how things out there on your Seal Team 6 missions? Sorry I can’t take you seriously when you try to slander with words like “shill”. What are you like 15? Back to Brass Facts lil fella✌️
To be honest, the PSA JAKL is fundamentally flawed for 1300$ especially when they make AR's that are as good as this, and a bit more reliable for a half of this
But it’s not just another AR and good luck finding a comparable piston gun for anywhere close in price. Our two jakls have been great so I’m not sure what the fundamental flaw is?
@@HuntFishShootChannel well since I’m not an actual manufacturer I don’t know the CAUSE of the issue, but it’s a feeding issue primarily on the .300 blackout. Which, is kind of a big deal, and it isn’t just one or two, it’s a fist load of em. I love PSA but I just can’t justify 1300$ on a rifle with inherent problems, and maybe if I didn’t actually shoot one and encountered an issue it may be different? Who knows. Glad PSA is trying different shit, just because I have an issue with AN ISSUE, doesn’t mean I don’t respect what they do
@thePreparedFather can’t speak for the 300 black out and this review wasn’t on the 300 blackout it was on the 5.56 Jakl
@@HuntFishShootChannel glad the sponsorship is going well
I never understand the “it’s not better comment”. It’s called variety, of course there are better guns out there but this is for the person looking for something different to enjoy shooting. Not everything has to be end of the world, doomsday ready. This gun fills a certain niche in the gun space
A user error and blame pmag, a weapon error and blame pmag. Why not be honest with yourself and viewers?
What? Pmags do not lock back in the gun. What are you talking about?
But are the rails in spec? 🫨
No issues here!
