    The number 1 definitely deserves its place. Respects to Ungvari but more respects to his incredible opponent !!! What a die hard he was !!!

    I really wish they change the rules so we see more Ne Waza in the Olympics. This is my favorite to watch.

      Judo nawaza is only effective if you arent used to such agression Judo fighters have on the ground (while BJJ groundwork is less agressive and more position oriented). Once you get used to dealing with it, youll realize just how meatheadish and generally bad Judo groundwork is.
      Also, wtf is up with Judo and broken arms? Not even BJJ and MMA combined have so much broken arms, let people tap out ffs.

      Haha I've had several people do this against me but annoyingly they're often saved by the ref so they don't learn that it's a terrible position to be in. It's nice to see here though that people were being given a decent time to work on the ground, I just wished it was more standardised across refs - I've had refs call matte when I've been on someone's back with a forearm under their chin...

    Lindíssimo Army Lock na posição número 5 porém e assustador perceber q um atleta de nível mundial de judô não sabe q para defender esse golpe e preciso pesar e nao puxar o braço ... Só deixou mais esticado para o adversário !

    I am fairly new to Judo and this, right here, is one of the reasons that I love it. I can only hope that one day I may have half of the skills demonstrated in this video.

    It's nice to see here that people were being given a decent time to work on the ground, I just wish it was more standardised across refs - I've had refs call matte when I've been on someone's back with a forearm under their chin, whereas there have been other times when I've been allowed to attack a turtled opponent for 15 or so second uninterrupted.
    As much as I love judo as it is, I can't help feeling that a better way to differentiate it in the Olympics from wrestling, rather than banning leg grabs, would have been to encourage more ne waza. It doesn't need to turn into bjj (as that level of guard play etc is hard for a layman to follow) just so long as there's a standardised amount of time that all refs have to allow, like a 30 second clock or something

    • @quickstep2408
      @quickstep2408 3 роки тому

      ya only if the ref knows that you have a good newaza rep will they keep them going at the top level. if you're not, you're just going to be boring and stall.
      30 sec would be fantastic!

    #5 Why do people lift the attacker off the ground and dump him face down which could easily result in a broken arm when they should push his shoulders into the mat and push the legs down to relieve the pressure then pluck the arm out?

    I don't see much difference between Judo and Brazilian Jiu - Jitsu.

    • @jestfullgremblim8002
      @jestfullgremblim8002 3 роки тому +1

      Because brazilian jiu-jitsu is judo without throws, bjj goes straight up to groundwork. While in judo they teach more standing techniques. Mitsuyo maeda (judoka and wrestler) taught judo to Carlos gracie and Luiz franca, later on, those two created jiu jutsu with what they learned from judo.

    • @jestfullgremblim8002
      @jestfullgremblim8002 3 роки тому +1

      If you practice this kind of judo, then you don't need brazilian jiu-jitsu at all.

    • @PathtoMidnight
      @PathtoMidnight Рік тому

      @@jestfullgremblim8002 jiu jitsu is really important in a striking context. Whereas judo is more explosive, the posture breaking bjj guys do on the ground keeps their opponent from doing damage in the worst situations

    • @jestfullgremblim8002
      @jestfullgremblim8002 Рік тому +1

      @@PathtoMidnight let me tell you, Judo is way better for strking situations because you can't just go and pull guard on your opponent or try the same old double leg takedown and hope they do not know how to sprawl. While Judo can literally end the fight with just the takedown, and the posture breaking that you mentioned is already taught at Japanese Jujutsu and Judo schools. BJJ has little to no innovations, oike i said, it's Judo with more banned techniques but they practice yhe ground game more than most Judoka now days, so they will usually be better than them at ground fighting.
