I remember that three times iny life, Judo saved My life when falling. And I took only one month lessons of this martial art. I think everybody should learn at least falling in Judo. Thank you very much Sensei!...
I started taking Judo at 6 years old. I am now 63 and it has saved me falling more times than I can count from falling off a ladder to tripping over a root.
13:55 According to Daigo's book on Sutemi-waza, O-soto-makikomi is a technique that starts as an O-soto-gari-like technique and is continued like a Soto-makikomi or an Uchi-makikomi. Thus, I would call this one an O-soto-makikomi.
Torne's ouchi gari should have been a no-score and a shido because he didn't have a grip before bear hugging. Bear hugging is allowed only if the judoka had 1 grip right before making the bear hug. From the rules: "Kumikata: To attack with a bear hug the athlete must have a minimum of one grip before making the attack. It is not valid to grip simultaneously. *Only touching the opponent’s judogi, hands or body is not considered to be kumi-kata,* gripping is necessary" Rules clearly say touching hands is not a grip. Still not a hansoku-make though, rules say it's just a shido.
Judoka practice falls a lot, and the properly done throws aren't intended to put someone head first, but usually on their back because that scores the points.
Hmm. I did Judo in the 80's and very few of these throws would have been Ippon back then. They must have changed the scoring quite a bit. The criteria I learned were you had to throw the opponent with force and control, which usually meant that you had to be still standing. Sacrifice throws didn't usually score Ippon- WazaRi maybe.
Is that little step ogoshi, referred to as european, like a feint to get your opponent to move as you don't actually make the step and then go in? Been learning uchi mata lately and I can see why people think it's difficult. On the surface you can do it with ease, but looking at Maruyama fully lifting them on the leg despite doing the classic fashion where you don't step deep inside their legs and go for the further thigh, that seems just impossible for now. I'm starting to think maybe the makikomi roll like Bouda's shouldn't be awarded for points. At best it should be waza-ari or just a takedown to newaza, because you go to the ground dragging your opponent with you and then rolling around them with the arm trapped to make the back hit. It looks like bjj technique for submission, not like a throw from standing legs.
Judo save my face from two attaquer when i was a theen two bums try to bully me and rob when one grab me osotokari so hard on the ground that he fell unconcious and his other friend look at me waving he dont want no smoke judo can be really effective in a street figth
More time for nea waza .. love judo but when I got to adult category they changed the rules.. no leg legs attacks under the waist time on the ground nea waza got shorter. My coach trained kosen judo in Japan once he got his blackbelt so every Thursday all wee woukd do was nea waza.. but that was 16yr ago but I did go to bjj no1 believed me I'd only trained judo .. but was basically nea waza I'd done alot of that hour's every week for year's but they thought only bjj guys new submission. No anything that came from helio Carlos gracie was already in judo . Kimura isn't a move that's ude garami Kimura was just a judoka that threw around then submitted him using ude garami a submission someone taught him a judoka

I am not trying to imply anything, but I am pretty sure we could have seen some female ippons in these videos. It's hard to believe that none of the ippons were good enough for this top list

Love Judo, beautiful throws. We need a good Judo gym in Louisville KY. We do plenty of jiu jitsu and wrestling but not many Judo guys around.
I love seeing O-guruma in competition! An underrated throw imo

13.12 is yoko guruma. The inner leg blocks your opponent in yoko wakare, not the outer as here.
Hi man! I nearly at the exam of the 2. kyu and I'm a little bit affraid. But I'm feeling a little bit confident after the video. Thanks
Those judokas are such high level. Unimaginable.
that high Osoto reminds me Yamashita!!
With how many of these throws end up with the person hitting the mat head first, it's amazing that there aren't more broken necks in Judo.

nah
You don’t get Hansokumake for bear hug, just a shido
Wait so if you’re not at 2 Shido and you you do what Torne did, you get an ippon + a Shido?
@@JudoHighlights2015 you normally never get a score for a technique that is illegal and causes shido
@@mfp5585 right? I still don’t know why this isn’t a Shido….
@@JudoHighlights2015 I guess the ref couldn't see the hands position from his angle, not sure video ref was called.

bear hugs are not hansoku make. Would be nice if you’d try to say some factual stuff once in a while.
They are 1 shido which is Hansoku if you're already on two shidos...
