kudos to you for keeping the flame! over 30 years ago, I had a 1980 320/6 and two of my friends had 323i models. just fantastic, wonderfully analog cars laden with mechanical harmony and handling prowess. always loved the envious looks I'd get from other E21 owners with their big, ugly-bumpered US-spec models.
Beautiful cars. I had a white one in 1992. The first owner was the local managing director of a big company (3M) and had it optioned with a blue leather interior, BBS front and rear spoilers, an M gearshift knob and a stainless steel exhaust system. It had 180,000km on it when I bought it and it was in showroom condition and drove like a new car. Friends at the time could not believe it was 12 years old. It was a joy to drive and really performed well out on the highway. The Getrag 5 speed manual had a really nice gearshift action. The only downside was that parts and servicing were expensive with a major service costing over $1,200 (for a car that cost $10,000) and a minor service costing $450. I saw in the owners manual that the original price when new back in 1981 was $25,000.

Great little car, a true classical icon of Bavarian engineering. I have always admired the E21 and E30, I used to have one.
