I’ve been working with BMWs for 25 years. I still love the older models. Used to have an e30 318is, then traded up for a 99 M coupe and now the newest car I’ve ever had for myself an 05 325 touring that I swapped from an auto awd to 5spd manual rwd. But my heart still lies with the BMWs from the 80s and 90s. Hopefully have another, one of these days.

Becky, pls keep that E21 its only going up in value as time goes on. these cars in the next 10 to 15 yrs will fetch 120k easy in decent condition and my sure yours is better than decent condition.

Brings back memories, I had one in the metallic red ,in the 90s they drive very well ,the guy I sold it to abandoned it on the street till it got towed away by council 😢
people would complain about crank handles in a modern BMW,
but these were not the cheap handles found in domestic cars.
so they were solid and good quality.
Absolutely beautiful lady. I'm 43 and remember people my parents age in executive jobs having cars like this in the 80s. The older you get you start looking round and the little details on older cars like the chrome it just doesn't exist anymore.
I remember her at Brookes. Flatmates with Jude and Dale. Glad to see she’s doing well

hi becky great channel, I love your passion for the E21, it will remain a classic following in the shadow of the (slightly) more iconic 2002 Tti. Never heard of that reflector panel being called a "Heck blend" (?’ ) but hey, you learn something new! At 6:03 , the first gen bmw E34 had that as standard , and when BMW revised the E34 in ‘92, they removed it from the car. I remember by old boss telling me he liked that tail light extension/ reflector that he ordered it and had the dealer fit onto his new E34 540i.
Bring it on with getting up the E21 up to dream standard!!
I think that it would be pretty cool if you swapped the six cylinder in, you can do the engine bay then.

Yours looks timeless, honestly, new carpets, heater fixed, preferably a six cyl with Webber carbs then it’s complete..

You have good taste, and a BMW with what should be the size of a kidney grille, unlike these of today's cars which I think are totally tasteless.
Gotta love an E21. Great story too. How common are the 16 valve engines from the E36 - 318is. That would be a good swap. If you stick with the OE unit I would go for ITB's with EFI and possibly a 'mild' camshaft. You would still get all the intake noise but with the reliability of EFI.
Going to go look at my first e21 tomorrow. Hopefully its in decent condition so I can buy it
I bought E34 but yes this was my dream car as child as well. Very sad i didn't get one :( I always believed when i will grow up i will buy one :D who knows maybe in future when i will be rich. because this thing will be worth fortune.

You bought one at 21, i "lost" mine at 21. We're the same age. She was olive green, 6 cylinder, with Recaro seats. The cylinder head cracked because my silly father never took care of her, but i was going to do a complete restoration. She was RARE where i live.
I lost her one night because somebody called the municipality and told them she was a derelict, while she clearly wasn't because i was firing her up, washing her etc. I woke up one day and she was gone. I was going to move her to the garage of our new house.
I tried getting her back but since she was my father's he refused to do it. You see he is a communist and didn't want to own a car anymore. Owning one thing already (a house) was too much for him ideologically. Sounds ridiculous but it's 100% true.

Have you got the full tool kit in the boot, they are always things that go missing, I had an e36 with the full tool kit and a working touch in the glove box, a very rare thing to find. That car like yours was so reliable, brought it on 66k and put another 100k on it and had hardly any issues with it, the most expensive bill was a new clutch at 300 quid which was so cheap. I had small issues like wiper motor and a window regular but pretty much a bulletproof car, plus it was a 6 pot so had that fantastic bmw sound.
Becky, get in touch, i might be able to help with engines and whatnot, i been all over the country round bmw car parts places, i went to a place the other day with loads of E28's and parts in the other day 😁
An old school bmw has to be a 6 pot, that would be a great swap. So what if it’s only a 2.0L it will have that classic bmw engine note and with twin webbers will sound glorious.

That car is sex . I owned one years ago same colour inside and out . Loved it wish I never sold it and I didn't need to but having so meny cars all the time couldn't keep it no room 😢.

The car is not genuine. All vehicle manufacturers have a dislike to people changing their vehicles.Lets face it who better can build it than them.The changes made put overloads on other parts always mainly reducing life, increasing maintenance and increasing unreliablity.I don't rate it simply on that ,sorry.

Nice car. I had a 320/6 auto e21. Same colour, and I notice you've got the 6 cylinder front light setup 😊 I personally hate the fact suspension parts are not so available, so I completely understand your move to air ride.
Why do people put these stupid suspension set ups on these classics.

For some reason I thought this was your dad's old car, this red one lol and then you restored it or something. Looks really nice though besides the carpets but not sure how easy that is to sort out or maybe you like the patina. Battery probably needs to be kept on trickle charge or keep it regularly driven or turned over so it charges from the alternator if the air ride is constantly taking power. Most of my dream classics are JDM and the prices have rocketed since I was looking at them back in like 2013/2014

I bought (my money) my first Porsche (a 64 911) at age 16 and did the work on it. If there was something that I needed help on, my father a Factory trained Porsche mechanic, would give guidance.

My dad had the exact same car 316 it’s actually got a 1.8 engine. Did you know that It was navy blue with the single headlights I loved the way the bonnet opened the wrong way 😂 with the Beije interior, it was of its time

I don’t think those wheels are oe fitment on g60 rallye or the normal g60,nice tastefully modded car though,by changing the seats though,do you lose that old bmw interior smell?
