    I am looking for a 30 - 36 fr boat in the UK. This was an excellent tour as I had seen an island Packet recently with not a good description. It’s now sold! They don’t stay on the market long.

    I love Island Packets ... just a tip ... when giving a tour, stand back away from each section you are showing. It's almost dizzying when your camera is zoomed in on every tiny detail ... the overall floor plan gets lost in the detail. Show the length from stem to stern in both directions, and then front to back of each side ... it will help people to follow along better with the narrative. Great IP!

    Your anchor setup. I have the same setup on my IP but no windless. Been thinking of adding one. looks to me like yours can be used with either anchor but being forward of where the chain drops to the locker how does that work. Like to know more about it before I start yet another project. And yes the light in your V-birth is the original light.

      Yes, I can use either anchor. I usually use the Fortress though because I don't trust the CQR. Either way, I wrap the rode around the windlass and then to one of the cleats.

    Good job on the tour. Nice boat! Very thorough. What kind of keel?

      @MattMarlowe  Рік тому

      Thanks, it's a full keel, 6,000 lbs of lead.

    How much? Selling

      @MattMarlowe  Рік тому +1

      No, not selling. You can usually pick these up for $60-$80k. This is a 1991, they made them from 1990 to 1996, then changed to the IP 320, which is very similar with a few more modern upgrades.

    IP's: short, heavy, wide boats with a shoal draught, inneficient keel & rudder, and a short inneficient rig. If you wanted to design a boat to sail poorly this is what you would design

      Sails great when the winds pick up though.

      @@MattMarlowe it's a motorsailor. Don't try to go upwind and dont try and sail in less than 15 knots.

      I can usually get where I need to go if the winds are better than 5 kts and I haven't had any problem going into the wind. The staysail helps when it's out. Tacking in light winds can be tricky because the jib wants to hang up on the staysail stay. It's definitely not as quick in light winds as my old Pearson, but it's a lot more comfortable in heavy weather.

      @@MattMarlowe "I haven't had any problem going in to the wind" very high leeway due to the 18th century underbody? Not noticing or caring?

      Probably a little bit of both! 😂

      @@philo5096 Thanks, I'll do another one and try to fix that. It's hard with limited space.
