    My cousin accidentally forgot to unplug the oil container and dropped every bit of oil from his car during an oil change, on my drive way, a week before my home was going on the market. I was dying inside. We used an oil absorbing sand, tried other chemicals but the stain was still extremely noticeable. I saw this video and ran to Home Depot. Bought 5 bottles, let it sit for 12 hours and prayed. It freaking worked!!!!! It’d describe it as almost a bleach for concrete. Whatever it is, I’m sooo happy and my cousin can come back out from hiding.

    Great to see this after the day ive had! I moped up nearly a quart of used diesel engine oil from the corner of my driveway and used degreaser and 1500 psi pressure cleaner. All of this took it down 50 percent but the stain is still highly visible although you could eat from it. Next step was finding the goof off concrete cleaner which is on the stain this minute. I found this youtube video and have a little more peace of mind!

      @@powerofknowledge7771 I'm a little bit late to replying but no it wasnt as good as the video. My driveway stain was a strong mix of heavy duty diesel oil that has spilled onto the concrete and also had black soil mixed in. I used the concrete cleaner last after a pressure cleaner and degreaser wash. Overall it's not terrible looking now.

      I’m even later to the discussion, but the guy at the auto parts store recommended liquid laundry detergent on the stain and then oil absorbent on top and then let it sit for a day. Worked like a charm. Only problem is now I have a really, really clean spot on the driveway. Trick is to let it sit as long as possible (days, not hours).

    A great tip would be to fix oil leaks on our vehicles as they leave a trail everywhere you take them secondary to that using a chemical to clean them up only increases the contamination of our groundwater just like the oil leaks on our vehicles. This is a good video to show you how to clean up a driveway when you find you have an oil leak but it is worth mentioning that we should fix our vehicles.

      @@chrissuter4107 There is no green solution to rid ones self of oil stains. The issue and their causes in and of themselves is in no way green. The ultimate green solution is to walk. The next step is to fix leaked immediately upon detection. This involves daily inspection of your vehicle.

      I've been retired for about 5 years, I've pretty much done about everything you can imagine but I was taught as a kid that you give an honest days work for an honest days pay. I just cannot get over how many people are just so damn lazy today. Seriously, some people are so lazy if someone set them on fire, they'd wait until someone else put them out. I paid the post office 12.00 for a two day delivery of a birthday card. It took 28 days to travel 800 miles. Why does a 2 day air delivery envelope sit in one location for 5 to 8 days? I applied for a homestead exemption on March 13th, on April 12th, it's still pending review. God, I hope my house doesn't catch fire, I could celebrate several birthdays before the fire truck showed up. Is it me? or does it seem like everyone is using the scamdemic as an excuse to do nothing ?

    • @DIYMAN
      @DIYMAN  3 роки тому +7

      There’s no doubt, people are lazier now than they’ve ever been. That’s why companies like GrubHub are so successful. People are willing to pay $20 extra for their food just so they don’t have to drive 5 minutes to get it. Then they wonder why $30k isn’t enough money to live on. And you are absolutely right, this “pandemic” has made them even worse because they have more money in their pockets that they can use to further this laziness.

    Try bug and tar remover. I used it to remove gasoline spots (not oil) from my brick paver driveway after other products failed. I’m assuming that since tar is a petroleum based product, it was able to remove it. I have tried it on oil, but who knows.

      Update; don’t use this method. Initially, it looked good but it actually left a worse stain. I treated the spots with a baking soda paste and it has worked well.

    **Update - I used blue Dawn dish soap - completely covering the stain and letting it sit for about 24 hours, then rinsed - that removed every trace of oil... while the Goof Off removed some of the darker spots, most of the stain remained- the Dawn completely removed it... Thanks for this video ! I have small stains from a motor oil leak on a pristine-clean concrete surface in super-hot south Florida. Tried tons of DIY already: soft scrub, baking soda, dawn dish soap, acetone…. Nothing has really worked on the very porous surface. Do you think it’s alright for it to sit 12 hours in the hot Florida sun?
    Still excited to give this product and method a try!

      Ready Strip rust remover is my go-to for rust stains. Works like magic, spray on, walk away, and stains are gone within 5 min. Muriatic acid although effective will etch concrete and the fumes will fk you up (not the fun kind either) if you're not careful.

      I can't believe it worked. Our driveway was less than a year old and was stained with fluids of all kinds from the vehicles of our friends. Instead of being 'that guy' and demanding no one else park their crap cars on nice new concrete, I just used about half a bottle of Goof Off and 40 hours to let it dry (in 35 to 50 degree temps) and sprayed it off. I can't express in words how satisfied (and surprised) I am that this stuff actually works.
